That's a wonderfull pea dot camo achievein his tunic Gav! Looking forward to see your next step. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work marra!
I'll not be one of those that tell you the paint color is wrong. I think it's a fine example of one of these solders. Keep doing what you're doing Gav, it's right awesome work in my eyes. Take care!
I know marra i played the vid back and thought he was outside again . Unfortunately i only had a small amount of time to make the video . All the best Joe ! Regards Gav.
@@gavinbooth oh no, I wasn't criticizing, I just hadn't head ice cream truck music in a long time. They don't have them here anymore so that's why I was surprised haha.
There's something for everyone in figures Paul , history , fantasy , scfi if he is not keen on the history side then games workshop have great figure kits with lots of options . Look after yourself marra . Regards Gav.
Hi Gavin, the figure is looking absolutely fantastic, the Germans certainly knew how to dress their troops, looking forward to the next update soon, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
It certainly looks the part! (The pattern on the skirt and back show the pattern perfectly, though you're kind of a bit compromised by all the heavy folds in the 'pushed up' sleeves... Hard to get that perfect... WERE IT ME I'd POSSIBLY try a 'light umber type wash' just to try and 'knit' those sleeve colours together and accentuate the heavy folds... THEN AGAIN on a figure this large that might be overdoing it? On a 28 or 54mm that wouldn't be an issue...) Of course, we're looking at an incomplete figure, so we're 'super concentrating' on only the features that are currently completed. When the flesh/face/kit/weapon are done our eyes will be drawn to those features too, we won't be primarilly focusing on the camo-pattern as we are now... At the end of the day, well, so far, it looks like what it is, an early-war SS 'Summer Pattern' camo-jacket! You've got the colours and pattern pretty perfect, (we can especially see this on the skirts and back) and that's hard to get right in this scale. Worth mentioning too, perhaps, that the (necessary but harsh) studio lights take some of the subtle detail away?) Which is probably why the skirts look better since they are not 'hit' as harshly by the overhead light... I'm not usually a fan of the larger figure, (Talking PURELY about Figure Modelling here!!!!) but I like how this chap is coming together. As usual, even though it's not my area I've picked up some tips. (I like how the different cloth materials 'look' different, heavy 'canvas' on the jacket but soft 'serge' on the trousers and collar...) I'm impressed! xx SF
Thanks Steve i will go back to this whole figure when completed and add more shading or highlights when i do what i call the sign off . That's when happy or not i call it done . I have to say display figures and busts are my favourite now back to trying to sculpt a 1/35 figure (its not going well marra ). Regards Gav.
