Composer Victor Young sadly died of a cerebral hemorrhage in late 1956 at age 56. His passing cut short a brilliant career but movie scores such as this and "Shane" plus many, many others assure he will not be forgotten.
I've never been compelled to watch this film (Bogart fan that I am) from beginning to end but your presentation here is very well done. Yes, Victor Young's music was simply exquisite in every way. Amazing that Bogie, 5'7 wearing a toupee and speaking with a lisp stands as tall as any movie icon we've ever seen. Tierney was a stunner and a compelling actress. Her mental issues slowed her down but she fought to do her job well. Cobb was a chameleon who could do anything. What a resume. Great job.
A emotional historic era which is captured with beautiful scenes and great actors, some who would never be on the large screen again! The farewell song to Bogie I have never forgotten and I tear when I hear it. It was as if it closed a period in cinema and time.
Superb Score! Have long enjoyed the music as well as the movie. I feel Bogart was meant to play this roll as he was such a help to Gene Tierney as she struggled with health issues during the filming. One of Humphrey Bogart's best movies.
This Movie was the beginning of the end for Bogey and the end of the beginning for Gene, I found myself being carried away in wonderment at this score and imagining what Gene was going through. I believe bogey was kind and gentle with Gene while making this movie though he himself had his own cross to bear. There will never be the likes of them again...
True so true sadly I must agree with you, they are as warmth from a winter blanket a haven from all those chill winds and yet as fresh as morning dew...
Hi Brain, Another one unseen. I loved listening to this score however. I am a fan of Victor Young's work. In ,my opinion he has done some of the most beautiful music in motion pictures. Thanks for posting. Your friend from USA, Norm
I guess each of them was going through a very difficult time in their lives, sadly for Bogey there was not a lot of time left and for Gene time was all there was left. Tic Toc goes the eternal clock.
The Left Hand of God is such a great movie and the music of this picture is wonderful!
Please where can I find it to watch? Does it have audiobook?
