Could you talk about Zack Snyder's Legends of Owl Kingdom Ga Hoole. I think the film is underrated. And the film is good because it is not moralizing and characters emotions are done so well and it has epic CGI.
As Overanalyzing Avatar said, Zuko didn't get banished because he spoke out of turn; that's the reason he had to do the Agni Kai. Zuko got banished for refusing to attack his father.
Zuko didn’t run, and everything was stripped away from him. Aang felt like everything was going to be stripped away from him, and so he ran. Every time I watch this episode I’m blown away by how convincingly the creators of this show made Aang and Zuko mirrors of one another
I see new things each time I watch this show and it is seriously incredible.
you didnt realise they were mirrors of eachother on your first watch?
throughout the show Aang is 12. in the first or second episode he asks Katara if he looks like an 112 year old man to her.
He said that to bait people into commenting for the algorithm
@@sigmasquad5285 Clever Girl...
@@nicodemous52 overanalyzing avatar admitted to it thats how we know lol - or at least thats the first thing i thought of
He was 13 by the end im pretty sure
The show was 3 year in avatar time, so he was 15 years at the end when they defeated ozai
The Storm, Zuko Alone, and the beach are easily like top 5 in the show imo which is fun since they all are mostly about Zuko
I was going to say something similar. Almost all of the shows great episodes focus around Zuko.
Crossroads of Destiny too. And the Day of Black Sun II when he stands up to his father is one of the best scenes in the whole show
The Avatar and the Fire Lord and the Sun warriors episodes are wordy to be in the top 5 episodes of Avatar.
Its even crazier when you realize that those make up three if the top 5 and the other two are the finale episodes. Perfect show.
the parallel with this while aang run away from the responsibility zuko face it
Correction: They wanted to send in a DIVISION to be sacrificed, not a battalion. Meaning they wanted to sacrifice 12-20 thousand new recruits
God Damn. That is a LOT more people than I thought would be sacrificed. Really makes you think how cruel the Generals can be.
It's a rule of thumb that any Avatar episode that heavily features flashbacks will be one of the best entries of that season 😊

this episode still gets me. I remember watching when it aired, being the same age as Aang at that time, and just sitting there. I hated Zuko so much and suddenly I just. couldn't? It was one of the first shows I can think of that ever challenged my young brain to think past "this is the good guy, he does good things. this is the bad guy, he does bad thing."
this show becomes a deep show the deeper you get into your journey. as a kid its just a cool show but when you get older and rewatch it, you understand it to a degree thats so relatable. thats why i love this show.
"The avatar gives Zuko hope" is a great line! This parallel of Zuko and Aang gets set up a lot more obviously as the series progresses, but to see it this early and kinda subtly is really cool. The show transitions motives in super intersting way. Zuko's goal changes but motive stays pretty consistant? Zuko still hinges hope on Aang even as his goals change, so having Iroh point that out so early makes the transition of Zuko's transformation a lot easier. It's built throughout Zuko's arc. I agree for sure that this show did so well in part because it allowed it's characters room to grow in authentic ways! Great video :D (also pls ya'll I know he asked to be corrected about Aang's age and stuff and prolly would've been best to look up before finishing the script and filming but this is a super great analysis and deserves more said about all the effort that went into it!)
Aang is 12 and if you want to see an even greater example of how bad the world is and how much common people don’t like the Avatar read the novels and compare how they treat them then and now
Wait, is there a novel?
@@ludmilamaiolini6811 Yes but about Kyoushi and Yangchen
@@markpula91 *There's also I think a comic book series that acts kinda like an unofficial book 4 for Avatar that follows the gangs adventures after the war is over. One of the stories actually deal with figuring out what happened to Zuko's mom. Just wanted to give my 2 cents* 👍🏿
@@VergilLover69 what did happen to Zuko's mom?
@@noahdrucker3076 the comic is called The Search
Aang is 12 as everyone else has stated, but the monks told him he was the avatar early because of Fire nation expansionist. Traditionally they would inform an avatar at age 16-18.
I love the bit about the cabbage vendor
Justice for cabbage man
the use of Arcane music during this added extra FEELS 🥺
There's barely any filler in the entire show. When they're not majorly fleshing out a character's backstory or advancing the plot, they're nailing home some of the best thematic material ever seen in a kids show, or at the very least providing very interesting worldbuilding. When I convince others to check out Avatar, they'll ask, "so we'll skip the filler episodes?". And I can maybe only think of two episodes in the show's entire 60-episode run that you could possibly cut out and still be able to follow the story, and even those two episodes are quality stuff either way. Absolutely zero wasted airtime and it ends just before wearing out its welcome.
It also has one of my favourite jokes. Sokka: I'm too young to die! Fishmonger: I'm not, but I still don't wanna!
I love how zuko's design changes each season.
It’s a good episode, but I’d argue that episode 3 of the first season is among those perfect episodes. It’s the episode that shifts our thinking from Nickelodeon cartoon with some cool ideas and tells us, there will be real story telling.
Aang is 12 years old in this show.
That's what Google told me
someone mentioned this in another video but I love it so I'll mention it: I love how Aang's story began because of selfish reasons and Zuko's because of selfless reasons
And when he got scared of the teeny tiny responsibilities of all of humanity
I’m so excited for the Avatar videos coming soon. This show and this characters mean so much to me in so many levels, and I’m sure you can give us some unique perspectives to it, with the same passion and care you gave to Arcane and its characters (another very important show to me). Besides, great analysis of the beginning of Aang’s and Zuko’s character arcs and how they complement each other. Can’t wait for more!
Ps: Aang was 12 (technically 112)
Oh man I love this episode!
To be fair to the old man, he grew up during the war, as a kid his father most likely was killed in the war and thus he holds resentment to the avatar, somebody who was supposed to aid everybody and stop this, just didn’t show.
There needs to be a what if episode of what would have happened if Aang had died during the first storm? He would've been born to a water tribe but how would Sozin have used the comet? If he found out that the air nomad avatar died maybe he redirects his comet genocide against the water tribe instead of the air nomads. If he doesn't find out the air nomad avatar died. The new water tribe avatar would've grown up in secrecy. How soon would the water tribe risked the new avatars life. It would've been impossible for the avatar to learn Airbending with the air nomad genocide still happening. It'd be difficult to get an earth bender without being discovered. It would've been practically impossible to find the avatar a fire bending teacher. It would be an interesting graphic novel to see or maybe a short series from avatar studios.
Aang is12 and he was told he was the Avatar 4 years early than he should of been.
When you mentioned the juxtaposition of Aang's and Zuko's pasts in The Storm, it suddenly made me think of why storms happen in real life.
1:35 ... wanna make an ATLA fan cry?
repeat after me: "leaves from the vine..."
"The Avatar and the Fire Lord" is probably my all-time favorite. The line, "Some friendships are strong, they can even transcend lifetimes," is always a gut punch, as well as the reveal that Avatar Roku was also one of Zuko's great-grandfathers.
And talk about ugly weeping... I'm reminded of when Fang dives down in a vain attempt to protect Roku from the pyroclastic flow, and then immediately we hear a newborn baby, Aang, crying. 😭
There is no such thing as giving Avatar too much praise.

The scar is on the wrong side
Zuko was always my favorite character while watching this show as a kid. I kinda feel like I’m season 3 they kinda neglected Toph.
when Anng run from responsibility Zuko face it that result to his banishment.
The whole show itself is perfect
Your videos are really fun and the movies/ series you talk about are always interesting🤌🏼 love your energy and spirit, I honestly thought you had hundreds of thousands of followers, not “just” around 35k, the quality of your content is really good🙏🏼😌
This was the episode that made this show go from good to great.
While it is a show for kids, it is very important to not underestimate kids them and insult their intelligence.
Kids can handle darker and complicated themes as long as there is balance in the story told.
This is for me simply a perfect show and the less good episodes still have importance to the overall arc.
I think this episode didn't air in my area. As a kid I was a massive fan and always watched this show when it was on TV so I had definitely seen them all.
Yet, when it dropped on Netflix and I binged the whole thing, I didn't recognize this episode at all.
Beside the first two episodes the boy and the iceberg, the avatar returns the storm is definitely my favorite episode of the show and also great follow-on to the southern temple the third episode of the series!
aang was 12 in the show 112 actually but 100 years frozen in ice.
Yay, can't wait!
i need to see more such awesome video dude!
defenently relatable, I also had to burn half my face off and cause a genocide!
Cool video you should do more avatar or korra would be cool too!
I know you did it as a bait. I respect it. So here is my “he’s not 6” comment for the algorithm haha
You should do one of these videos specifically on zuko
I was goosebumbed through middle to end of this video. Holy fck
the intro hits different
He is 11-12 in the flashback before he froze. 12-13 during the series in present time.
The Aang being 6 thing is a joke, right?
In the thumbnail zukos scar is wrong
There is no war in Ba Sing Se
Zuko is relatable to me almost on a subconscious level . My biological father leaving me when I was one and my "stepdad" turning out to be a complete asshole I had my grandpa as a father figure (RIP grandpa, I miss you every day)
Han Solo: "He was 12!!!"
bro if aang is 6 than how old do you think katara is? :P
Hm, how very interesting, will look forward to see more.
The walrus looks like a bird
Please do the blue spirit.
Good video
@Flying Walrus
What music did you use throughout this video??
I feel like I recognize some of them, but can't quite put my brain finger on it
I forgot lol, but it's a mix of royalty free music and music from Arcane
What screen capture software do you use?
The Southern Air Temple, This episode, The Winter Solstice Part 2: Avatar Roku, the season 1 two part finale, (Siege of the North) The Blind Bandit, Bitter Work, Zuko Alone, Tales of Ba Sing Sei, Lake Laogai, The Awakening, Sokka's Master, The Beach, The Avatar and the Fire Lord, The Day of Black Sun Two Parter, The Southern Raiders, The Ember Island Players, and Sozin's Comet Part 3 are the perfect episodes in the series for me (Yes, in my opinion season 2 is overrated, but still better than season 1 and season 3 is the magnum opus of the series).
it's tough to pick a favorite episode, to me Seige of the North blew my mind, it seems like once they get to safety with the northern tribe the Fire nation goes full on Empire or LOTR orc style and brings a massive fleet, not to mention the whole Moon and water spirit lore, everything about that was my favorite until they got to Day of Black Sun, like an epic rag tag team risked everything and they lost out even more hope, it just sets everything up so perfectly for Sosen's comet.
Subscribed just for avatar content
If you want mor of this, Overanalysing Avatar is a channel that goes over the whole series... every. single. episode... he goes over all of them and points out the fact that the moon will never be consistant.
He’s 12. Not 6. cmon man
11:30 USA
you mean to tell me that this episode is a ''perfect storm''?
I love ❤️ lol 😂 this video!
What music did you use???
Arcane mixed with Royalty-free
Idk how you could think Aang was 6 like damn he'd have nowhere near the depth of emotion at that age. He's 12 and has been since he was frozen in the ice.
for avatar state that is supposed to be accumulated skill of past benders, freezing aang for 100 years seems like a stupid move, considering he can waterbend or air bend like at the start of the series
I ❤ Korra
❤️
He is 12 😉
He was 12 years old
Ahhhh the scar is on the wrong side
wait you guys didnt have this on cable? like what?
His household didn’t have cable.
Don’t mean to be that person, but in the thumbnail the scar is on the wrong side
I loved the shade thrown at Korra, that series really dropped the ball sometimes
he was ...12 I believe
12
Aang is like twice the age you gave lmao
He's 12, possibly 13 at the end of the series
@ Flying Walrus 12! He's 12! (Nice joke if you were not serious)
This would've been a better pilot, but it does help the show that this episode came around a time when Avatar was quickly growing out of it's childish Nick phase.
Aang in this time was 12
Aang is 12
he' 12
Aang’s 12!!!! Not 6🤔🤔🤔🤔
I may be late to the party, but he's 12. His birth year is 12 BG, making him 12 when he was frozen. He comments multiple times about being 112 years old.
Thought I'd share that since you asked.
Still way too young to have that weight on his shoulders.
hes 12 not 6
And then they made Korra........
I am disappointed. There was no blib
Ang is aleast over the age of 10
Sages Rain did it better + ratio
avatar took a lott of inspiration from there first few seasons of pokémon why doesn't anybody ever talk about that
Okay but if you close your eyes, it's almost like a more mature Sokka is voicing this video and I just. 🥲
Woah ur so right lmao
