    After getting an absolutely lovely response to the Procreate watercolor floral monogram tutorial, I was so excited to have some requests for more videos utilizing the Uproot watercolor brushes! I love these brushes (and am perhaps Abbie's #1 fangirl ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) and will take any excuse to paint with them! Because the shapes we're painting here are relatively simple, this tutorial is surprisingly easy and accessible for beginners - I promise, the brushes do a lot of the work for you!
    I used a whole mix of brushes from the set to paint this watercolor mountain vignette landscape scene (haha, yes, that's what I'm calling it). I tried my best to break it into steps so that you can pause, or rewind, and just generally more easily follow along.
    Here are the timestamps for easy navigation:
    (0:00) - Intro and brushes used
    (1:03) - Circle base & sky watercolor wash
    (3:41) - Painting the mountains
    (5:13) - Adding shade & definition to the mountains
    (10:38) - Painting the trees
    (12:07) - Painting the snow / highlights
    (15:21) - Adding details on the horizon
    (16:15) - Finished art
    (17:01) - My cat barging in and stealing the whole show 🙂
    If you like this format (or hated it!), leave a comment letting me know! I am always trying to get better at explaining and teaching and seriously value all your feedback.
    Thank you for taking the time to hang out and make art with me! ❤️

It was harder to put on, and it scratches easier, and I've also heard it wears out your pencil nib faster. But I'm really, really digging the paper finish so I'm down with the trade offs.)

    hello, i'm in love with your brushes!! I have a question, it's possible to enlarge the paper who comes with? or there's a way to use the brush paper texture to create a larger canvas? thanks

    • @WoolyPronto
      @WoolyPronto  4 роки тому +1

      Yes! You'll need to add the texture layers in above your painting layers, change the blend modes (mimicking what's in the premade canvas, or set to Multply, CB or LB - play around to see what works for you!), and fill the entire canvas with one continuous brushstroke using a medium gray color! You can also futz with the opacity to adjust the look! I'm so glad you like the brushes - I def can't take credit for them, just recommend pretty much everything Abbie makes cause she's a genius :)

    Hi i just busted out the texture from the pack to try. I noticed something very different from normal... ie every painting layer needs to be on Linear Burn?
    ( on the EWc live demo where Ab made a canvas, it wasnt mentioned that all painting layers needed to be kept LB so i hope you can clarify)

    • @WoolyPronto
      @WoolyPronto  3 роки тому

      Hi LeAnne, good catch! Setting the painting layers to a different blend mode is definitely 100% up to you - I believe in the canvas that comes with the set they are all set to Multiply. Whether you choose that or LB, the way the different layers interact with each other will change subtly. You’ll notice it most if you try to paint lighter colors or white on a multiply or LB layer, they won’t show up because the blend mode multiplies the darkness of the paint on the layer with that of the layers below - so with white it’s like multiplying with 0. If you set it to normal, the different layers will block out more of whatever is below - no blending. Hope this helps and makes sense?

    • @leannet3854
      @leannet3854 3 роки тому

      the painting layers in my kit were all set to LB. i notice sometimes the additional overlay abbie suggested totally washes out the paint as well. so i have learnt that adjustments before starting a piece is best and doing whatever looks better to me.
      i have gotten over my newbieness of following everything by the first book or tutorial i warch, lol. i think now i also have to master resizing a canvas without losing texture resolution. i tried watching a resizing vid by “Calvin from Drifter Studio” ( he has wonderful teaching techniques and watercolour brushes ... not sure if you know of him). i hope i am doing it right. maybe you and abbie can do a vid about resizing canvas “ the right way”... cheers.

    I have just had my first attempt at this, and I ran into a few issues. Drawing a circle and trying to fill it by dragging from the color palette didn't work for me, neither did electing the side mountains. Also, the colors seem much duller on my iPad Pro and I am wondering if you were using a certain color profile. I downloaded the color palette you used and also bought the brushes. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    • @WoolyPronto
      @WoolyPronto  4 роки тому

      Hi Paula, I'm sorry that you ran into these issues! I'm not sure I did the best job explaining the color drop here - but you can only drag and drop from the single (circle) color at the top left, not from the palette - and then when you do drag the color over, keep the pencil to the screen, and slide from right to left (a blue slider bar shows up at the top) to decrease the amount of color drop. The same blue slider shows up with the automatic selection (like on the side mountains). Here are a couple Procreate Handbook articles that probably explain it better:
      Color drop - procreate.art/handbook/colors/colors-interface?section=7990
      Automatic selection - procreate.art/handbook/selections/selections-automatic?section
      I hope these things help out a bit! As far as the color profile goes - I used the canvas that comes with the brush pack, so the profile should match (I know that's something that can't be changed on an existing canvas). However, The translation of colors from my camera filming the screen may account for some of the difference! You can certainly adjust the overall saturation and brightness of the piece, by going into the wand icon (upper left), and selecting the Hue, Saturation, Brightness option, or the Curves option if that's a tool you're comfortable with.
      Sorry this is such a massive comment, but I really hope it helps you out a bit! 😊

      Totally! I offer free brushes for my newsletter subscribers that you could use for this (woolypronto.com), or you can get inventive with the in-app brushes! My recommendations would be Little Pine (under Drawing) and most of the brushes under the Water section. I hope this helps!

      @@ashleyhernandez1555 sorry I didn't reply sooner!! congrats on starting your sticker company, that's awesome!
