The Anubis was meant to deliver the protomolecule sample to Mao's team on Eros, and they thought the sample was lost. As the lead scientist said, Julie was a lucky break so they could continue with the experiment. They had everything already in place on Eros. I guess they also wanted to clean out the gangs who were hired from Ceres. Notice that Miller had his hat on in Julie's vision which he left on Ceres. hmm.
If you rewatch the Julie flashback and listen close to the Anubis’ captain, she says the sooner Earth and Mars are at each others’ throats, the sooner they’ll take their eyes off Eros. They’re trying to start a war to distract from whatever they’re doing there.
The Anubis got hit directly by a nuclear warhead (the flash of light on screen is the way to tell). Whatever was there got vaporized into its component atoms. I gotta say, I really like how much of previous episodes' details you can recall. Most people miss stuff like what the guy that speared Havelock said in the video 5 episodes ago :)
Thanks, it really helps that I watch every episode basically twice due to editing and that I concentrate more because while watching it's my only focus.
Dawes certainly has his own agenda, but I believe he just didn't care about Julie as much as he claimed to Miller. Of course, at that time he had no reason to think there was a time urgency. He knew nothing about the contagion. So he'd figure that Julie was safe enough holed up on Eros until he needed her again. If you recall, every time we saw Frank DeGraaf, he was writing with a pencil into a paper notebook...in a world where everyone used hand terminals. Avasarala knew her old friend was not merely an eccentric. So, Avasarala has information from DeGraaf that proves Fred Johnson's broadcast. The water thief Diogo had said that all the griegas had left Ceres, so we see now where they went.
No, Julie's message said "pick up had gone bad and the crew were dead" she told him "something got out on the Anubis" Dawes didn't give af about Julie and wasn't going to risk his ass for her.
Notice at 6:21, the woman in charge of the attack on the Scopuli starts complaining about being hot, and tells the crew to make it cooler in the ship. She’s been infected by the protomolecule and is about to be in a world of hurt, most likely ending up being sucked up into that big mass of protomolecule around the ship’s reactor with the rest of the crew.
It's just gonna keep getting better!! S1 is considered (not by me) to be the slowest and hardest to get through, and that comes from actual fans of the series lol So much to look forward to in the coming seasons! All the set-up in S1 will now continue to pay off through the entire series!
So many answers and then sooo many more. You're confused about where Julie and the Protomolecule was. Holden and crew were no where near the ship (Anubis) that Julie was held on and broke out of the compartment. There was no Protomolecule on the Scopuli, so they were not exposed. Mao is very rich. Probably richer than Elon Musk so him being able to fund a private venture wouldn't be a stretch.
Nah, I'm not confused. They were on the Scopuli in Ep.1 and then they were on the Anubis in Ep.8. But they did not touch the stuff while they were on the Anubis, that's the important thing. I don't know how rich Mao is, so I could be mistaken, but from todays view, it's hard to believe that a single person is more wealthy than a government or can afford better stuff than a government, let alone a government that encompasses a whole planet. To keep the example Musk: His net worth is about 225 billion right now. The US government is spending trillions of dollars every year. And even if we only look at military expenditure, then the US is spending more than thrice Musk's net worth every year on that. And my main issue with the "single person theory" is not with the fact that he has a private army or military, that's indeed not really surprising or unrealistic. It's rather the fact that he has the money to build stuff that Earth apparently can't afford and that Mars doesn't have, at least not to that extent. I at least remember this one martian being surprised about the fact that the smaller ships had railguns because they never saw them on ships that size.
"How. exactly... can she see Miller there? We don't know." My theory is that the Protomolecule hive mind already is aware of and to some degree has its hooks into both Miller and Julie. It is communicating with Julie presenting a vision, much like Miller's visions. If we reject that then we have to accept poetic license in the storytelling or something supernatural at work. The latter isn't substantiated anywhere else and adds a new unnecessary theme to the story that goes nowhere. This isn't GoT or BSG.
You're very good at remembering all the pertinent details of the story.
Can't wait for you to start season 2!

I love how well you follow what is happening. You did a lot better than me when I first saw this season. 😂

Good catch on the “suicide.”

Surely you're one of those great Screaming Firehawks who're always ready to help without ever SPOILING anything?
