what i've learnt from my losses against Enel: 1. just 5k swing with leader early, they will take the hits early game so you don't need to waste don to get the life, they will give it to you until they are at 1-2 (swing on empty board, incase of trigger) and if they dont, great you drained a card in an attrition fight. 2. try and keep them at 2 life until you can go wide for lethal. They get a lot of value from being at 1. their cards are still strong at 2 life, but they have to choose between giving ace rush or adding life, dont get life from yamato. raigo makes them trash a card etc and you deny a card. 3. If you go after their board, they will usually give up cards to save it. That's sometimes a better way to drain their hand than going for life. I will often go after their cards, even when I know i can ko with effects (if im pretty sure i cant lethal). 4. if they arent starving you, eat the hits till you are at 3 to stop godatsu from killing your valuable 4 drops (the players running godatsu tend to starve, no matter what you cant really stop yamato killing your 4-5 costs) 5. if you know the opponent is likely to starve, maybe mulligan for searchers as it's going to be a long game. 6. this advice is built on a smoker deck with decent late game, if your smoker deck is more midrange you might want to be more aggro than im suggesting. 7. Don't feel bad if you lose, this is a horrible match up, I saw some stat that Smoker vs Enel was something like 30% win rate for smoker in 8.5. im still learning, but this is what i've got so far.
Ahh yea that’s so true. I actually enjoy the Nami MU now that I know what to do. But if you don’t see a Brook early it’s tough to keep pressure. I just need that type of understanding of each Leader. Takes time or whatever.
