Is everyone said you did a really great job building this box I got a lot of useful information really appreciate you sharing your knowledge, I have a question I have a pair of sundown X 12 V2 d2’s , will this box work in a Jeep jku. I want to build a box myself so I just need to know before I get started.
Which sa series is the best ? I looked and these many series x z n not sure which to chose. I just want 1 12" thats the best bang for your buck. And does the box have to be big? I want trunk space still.
The better SA is the V.2 series, but the classic is still really good. Both subs take the same tuning and box size. The V.2 just holds more power, 1000 rms, compared to 750 rms with the SA Classic. Depending on how much bass you actually want, either sub should perform very well in a trunk car setup. As for size, both subs take 1.75 cubic ft per sub.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it. Im really glad that you learned something. That's the point I was trying to achieve. I have alot more techniques to teach, just gotta get the videos out lol. Thanks for watching, it really means alot.
Nice box man, I have 2 15 massive 152xlr hippo what size box do I need and can you please provide me with the measurements. It's for a 2018 4runner. Thanks in advance brother!
Well first off, what kind of subs do you have. Different subs take different airspace and port sizes. With a rough calculation the net space you have it almost 9 and 1/2 cubes. With a 32 hz tuning it comes I'm around 8 cubes gross. So that should be fine for the majority of woofers. I can design the box for you. Made just for your woofers, vehicle, power levels, and tuning you want, for a small fee. But if your woofers aren't designed to play 32hz, then their performance may suffer.
You mean a box for L7 subs? Working on more box videos now. If you want a specific design for your subs, you can message me on Instagram. Where we can discuss the details. IG: s.overtron
What’s the port wind speed? Also would this work for 2 v3’s in the back of a 97 accord? The max height in the back I can really do is 15” and 40 wide 22” long
The port velocity is 26m/s with the rated power for both subs at 1500 rms. If you add more power than rated, the velocity will go above 30m/s and you may hear a little nosie. This design was made to fit mostly any car. It should fit right in with no problem. Also the design will work for the SA classic and the new V.2 as well. The only difference is the cutout holes.
The box was designed to fit in the majority of cars. But no even single car. There are some cars with super small trunks. If you got a regular trunk it should fit, but grab a tape measure and double check it before you build the box. It should fit in your car pretty good. It will work in around 90-95% of regular cars. Hondas usually have plenty of room for a nice size 2 12 boxes.
Sundown has the box specs listed on their website for any of their subs. They recommend 1.75 cubes ported, tuned to 35 hz. With 26 inches square port area.
Well yeah that partly right. The box will prob end up being 7 or 8 cubes gross. With port, subs and displacements taken out, it will drop back down around 5 cubes or so. That also depends on how you tune it. The lower the tuning the larger the box will need to be. Box and baffle bracing are also recommended for those subs.
The box in the video was made deeper because the car had plenty of room. The design at the end is one that will fit in most cars. The air space and ports are the same. The video box is just deeper so the ports didn't have to be bent to get the full length. The design specs call for a bent port setup with a shallower depth to fit more vehicles. Tuning and air space are both the same.
Thanks so much!! I assume your meaning a sealed box, saying to close it. Sealed boxes will give a flater range than ported boxes. It may sound alot cleaner, but will not be as loud. But it does depend on the application as well. Sealed boxes won't have the same output levels. Most car audio applications are more suited to a vented enclosure.
My nephew and I used to build and sell custom bass boxes. They were all ported as they were for SPL competition. When I built mine for under the rear seat of my 4 door GMC Topkick pickup I built non ported because with the amp and speakers I used, volume was not an issue. I wanted sound quality. Those boxes were very odd shaped. Because part of the volume extended up behind the seat. But I got every cubic inch the speaker manufacturer recommended. It was a clean clear sound. With JBL bass and Alpine door speakers. With the doors wide open the sound would carry without the bass overwhelming or underperforming the rest of the music. It was a good source of music for a small party or picnic. It wouldn’t win any SPL prizes though.
The box specs are very similar with the sundown and DDX series. The tuning is a bit higher for the Skars but this box should work pretty good for them, tuning isn't too far off.
It's gonna be a much smaller box and a whole different design. If you want a custom box design done, you can discuss it with me further on Instagram, thanks 😊 IG: s.overtron

Well they would do pretty good, but they require a bigger box, and a slightly bigger port. You could better performance from a larger lower tuned box. The new SA subs require less air space than the version 1 did. The AB sub needs 2 to 2.5 cubes per sub and the SA is 1.75 per sub
