Thank-You to Huell Howser for putting me in childhood nostalgia heaven(again) where I pray you reside these days. Starting in the 1960's at about the age of ten being in Ferndell Park was like getting lost in a primal wilderness for us city kids.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles and never knew about this place. Now I need to travel back to my hometown just to check it out. Thank you Huell for sharing this with everybody. You were one of a kind and a true lover of your adopted city.
This episode has been my wake-up call in the morning. Very effective! It inspires me to go outside to play. I live in New York City near a huge wetland park. Lot's of trees, plants and various little animals--my secret oasis!
I love this man! Damn, he says he's been in L.A. for 25 years, about the time I moved away...alas! He's so cool and funny! Can't wait to see everything else he does. He's wonderful!
hate to break it to you but, "Howser’s fans have responded to his death with disbelief, grief and happy memories about episodes of “California’s Gold.” www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/07/huell-howser-dead-beloved_n_2426682.html
There are Sunset Variatus (Variable Platyfish) in this stream. They are an aquarium fish that came from the spotted Variatus in Northeastern Mexico: Veracruz areas. They can survive without a heater. There used to be some Red Swordtails (Xiphophorus) that were domestic aquarium fish in there. I wonder what happened to them...
Hello everyone I am looking for the episode where he is in a small town in Northern California and he goes into the restaurant and the first person in starts the griddle and coffee. Can anyone tell me what town that was PLEASE

thank you KCET for posting these.
It's a nice hike, or walk to see another side of what L A. has to offer.
Love Ferndell and The Trails Cafe at Griffith!
Been there many times, I love this place.
Huell Howser is a Los Angeles icon. I’m sure many people miss him.
Good night Huell Howser, wherever you are.
!
The first plant he couldn't identify was White Ginger, the second (on the tree) was a Staghorn Fern. We have lots of those in Hawaii.
I love the elegant and beautiful scent of white ginger. I was around them in Taiwan and Hawaii.
This was one of my favourite places when I was a child. I remember when the creeks were filled with crayfish.
love this dude

I love adventures
Been there, done a quicky behind a bush. Great place.
Hamburgers and sno-cones seem like perfectly fine foods to me but then again I don’t have a “real job” like Mr. Manhatten.
KCET? Who is that? So much information though!
I wonder were that ranger is now.
