    I got my first Legator from Live Louder a little while ago. One of their slightly less common (and discontinued!) models, the OT7T. Quite a unique thing, 27" 7 string with Gotoh trem, and a shape that's kind of like an offset/Tele hybrid. I'd heard mixed things about the Legator brand but there aren't many production 7 strings with vintage-style trems so thought I'd take a shot and was really impressed by it. Best playing 7 string I've ever tried.
    I'm actually tempted to get another Legator 7 string after that positive experience. I already have a Schecter KM-7 with Fishmans and whilst it plays incredibly well, I'm really not keen on the bright & metallic acoustic tone (that can be heard in the amplified tone too - I think it's due to the brass string ferrule block in the back). I saw that Legator also did a multiscale version of their Opus Tele shape that has Fluence Moderns so considering doing a swap. For whatever reason they discontinued those Opus models (including a very rare HSS Strat variant that from what I can find was only sold in the US & France, I managed to track down the only remaining new 6 string - the OS6 - from a French retailer and that arrived a couple days ago...plays just as great as I was expecting). So very happy that Dan from Live Louder has turned me on to a range of guitars I really like the feel of.
    Live Louder actually has just one of these Fluence multiscale models left, the OT7F in a pink finish. I seem to like the sandblasted ash finish a bit more (branded as a 'Tradition' variant and uniquely has an ash body whereas all the other Opus models are alder) but it appears that version was only sold in the US. Only a couple left there and when they are gone that's it so if I do get one it will be easier to get Live Louder's...and I do kinda like the vibe of pastel pink for a modern metal guitar. Although it would be interesting to know if Legator are aware of any more of the ash versions floating around out there.
    With regard to headless...I just can't get over the appearance. Just doesn't look like a guitar should. But I do appreciate the benefits for your own playing situation. And the tuning stability is a plus. I've noticed some headless models have a trem bridge - including an upcoming Legator model. I suppose that would be the best possible way to do a trem...locking but still with the ability to tune it at any time, and really good stability. Perhaps I will try headless one day!

    I know exactly how feel, I only played guitars with headstocks. But after i tried a headless I now play a Legator GOD7 artic purple, an Ormsby Goliath GTR 7 and my newest Legator GX8A like yours just the 8 stringed version, I love them all, and cool to now only a 100 exists of each 🤘

    Great video as always. I too prefer a bolt-on for a variety of factors. Maintenance, remediation, replacement. Set/through neck feels great but you're at the mercy of the original function of the instrument in all its glory or quirkiness unless a person wants to go to great expense to alter it. If the set neck angle isn't perfect, it takes a LOT to change, as opposed to just dropping in a hardwood shim. etc etc

      Great point. I remember Dino from Fear Factory mentioning he would only tour with bolt ons so he could throw his guitar to his tech and not worry about snapping the headstock. Apparently they had a case full of spare Ibanez necks lol. For me Bolt on and Roasted Maple is peak tone! 👌

      @@ChilledGuitarReviews +1 on roasted maple. My living quarters are difficult to maintain a good relative humidity so the torrefied wood has a tendency to move, shrink, and shift less through the wild seasons when hanging on the wall. I'm a believer in the roast.

    Great review! Do you have some thoughts about Strandberg Guitars? In my eyes Strandberg is a king in headless world. In the past Legator didn't have the best reputation. Currently on Strandberg forums/groups I can see a lot of complains about quality(and prices). Maybe there is a shift between those two. I'm on the market for 8th string FF if that's matter. All the best!

      I currently have a Strandberg Boden 8 string nx and a Legator ghost I love both but I will say the Strandberg does feel way more premium and the neck is so interesting and unique and none of my other guitars sound as thick as the strandberg. The Legator feels really nice and sounds sick and plays super nice! Good for the price definitely. But still like my Strandberg better

    Great to see you're enjoying it so much! It's a beautiful guitar, and it's interesting to find out only 100 were made. Tuning and restringing is always one of the most annoying bits of a headless guitar, but honestly with all of the massive benefits like the reduced weight/better balancing and the tuning stability, it's worth it to me.

    I’ve tried the headless Ibanez bass and I did like it. But I’m a big guy, a headless guitar would look like a toy on me. This one does look sharp, for the most part I thought headless guitars just looked ugly. This one looks good, and Ormbsy makes one that looks good. Just not sure I’d ever buy one.

    Ooooooooooooooooh my lord the string change process made me feel like I had unlocked 100% brain capacity, but it's soooooooo worth it in the end for the playability and tones.
    I do wish there'd be more multiscale headless guitars with block inlays (similar to the Lucas Mann sig) but maybe that's just me
    Great video as always!

    As a headless guitar player, I struggle to see what I'm doing, can't really hear much and strangely hungry and short of breath all the time 🤪
    Seriously though, great video man. I'd like to try a headless so great to hear some general thoughts on the style of guitar. I don't have a 7 string either yet and my regular playing space isn't that big so maybe a headless 7 string would work well from that perspective.
    String changing challenge sounds interesting. I've got Floyd Rose style, traditional tremolo, string through, wrap around bridges and 6 inline or 3 a side headstock, some with locking tuners. Lots of little things to remember and I don't change strings often so sometimes have to lookup videos for tips.

    Hello James! Congratulations with new axe) Have you noticed a drop in volume on the 3rd, 2nd, 1st strings when you played?
    Im asking because I had a multi-scale guitar with Fishman pickups and I noticed that the first three strings sound much quieter than the thick ones.
    It was as if the magnet was far away under the string.

    • @ChilledGuitarReviews
      @ChilledGuitarReviews  6 місяців тому +1

      Hiya mate. Nope everything sounds as it should to me. I have had this issue before though on other guitars and unfortunately it can be a number of things like fret slap, pickup height or alignment, corroded strings etc. The Fishman pickup plates are actually bars under the plastic casing so there shouldn't be a drop off unless there is a fault somewhere. Hope this helps.

    Another great video dude! I got the opportunity to try out a headless Aristides last year and it was so manageable compared to a headed guitar. Way out of my budget though haha. Random thought for tuning, have you tried flipping the guitar upside down? That way the normal hands do the normal things.

    • @ChilledGuitarReviews

      I've always wanted to try an Aristides! Not totally sold on the look of the body shapes but I'll reserve judgement. Turning it upside down could definitely work but would look even weirder than my reverse backhanded voodoo? 😂

    • @ChilledGuitarReviews
      @ChilledGuitarReviews  6 місяців тому

      There is a volute on this model but I don't find it intruding (There is a shot of it at 4:23 in this video). I will say though that personally I really like a Volute as I have long fingers and I appreciate the extra anchor point for my palm.
