I had been into astrophotography for maybe two years or so when a friend of mine wrote to me „Did you read about that comet appearing soon? This might be quite interesting for your new hobby“. Two days later on a friday morning clear skies were announced, so I got up at 3.30 and drove down to lake constance (north-east border of switzerland) - and BAMM he was right there! No problem at all seeing it with your naked eye! And of course I took pictures, a lot of pictures and later on went to work with a biiiiig smile on my face, it was fantastic! Fortunately I had the chance to see it quite a few more nights over the following weeks, even pointed my telescope at it - and even took a picture of it over the town of constance that found it‘s way into the local newspaper, it was such a blast! Still get a smile thinking back to these moments 🤩!
Wow....AWESOME ....amazingly beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us, James. God bless !!!!!! All things bright and beautiful, All stars great and small, All things wise and wonderful, Our Creator made them all. He gave us eyes to see them, And lips that we might tell, How great is God Almighty, Who has made all things so well.
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing. The night I saw Neo only the tail was the main view as I’m surrounded by woods and it looked like it was nose diving into the trees. So awesome seeing that but came across your video this morning and was like WOW.
Great pic. What's better is watching the sheer excitement and joy you obviously experience. It's almost as if I was there. Again, another great vid James. Thank you!
Your excitement was palpable and your shot is amazing! The whole image came together beautifully. You executed your plan but you were given a gift! Congratulations!
Brilliant photos and video! Saw the comet two nights ago around 10P with binoculars along RT 44 in upstate NY just past Miniwaska State Park. Lots of light pollution. It was about half way between the big dipper and the horizon. Unless you are in a very dark sky location seeing it without binoculars would be extremely difficult.
It doesn't get any better than that your photo. It gives me goosebumps! I'm an amateur photographer/ astronomer in Seattle, and managed to find a park with a marina dock with the view to spot and photograph Comet Neowise. I certainly don't have any sophisticated equipment- an old Casio Exilim FH-20 digital camera, which I bought it for it's optical zoom capability, and even good digital zoom on top of that. I set up my tripod, and searched for Neowise with binoculars. It was an exciting moment when I spotted it for the first time! It was another story to find it in my viewfinder, using trees below it as a marker, then zooming slightly, keeping part of the comet in the viewfinder, re-centering, only about ten times, before it was suitably zoomed for good pictures. I wasn't sure how to use my manual shutter speed without holding down the shutter manually, which would have caused blur, but I did get several nice shots. Like you said, I had to set the ISO at 800 and 1600 to get enough light, which caused a lot of noise and graininess, but it was worth it. That was almost two weeks ago. Now that it is at it's closest, if the darned clouds would leave, I will try again, having learned how to set a shutter timer for the desired exposure. Good work, and thanks for all the useful tips!
I'm gonna try to get my shots tonight and tomorrow. I'll have to work all night the rest of the week. I'll never get it to look this good because I've had one day with errands to prep, but at least guys like you will have done the reference quality work. Last chance for several millennia so I don't wanna waste it!
Great shot James! This is a perfect example of what a good preparation and technical knowledge of the camera and lens can do. This is one the shots that should be print and hang on the wall to see and remember this incredible experience.
I am amazed that it is travelling at 40 miles a second with a tail over 10 million miles long. I am lucky enough to live in an area with no light pollution and had a fantastic view from my garden.
Well done James!!! I sure hope you will do some marketing with this incredible once in a lifetime shot-I'll wait in line to buy a poster of it. Thanks for delivering a beautiful gift to all of us in these trying times:-)
@@JamesBrewphoto No pressure at all. Your videos are always informative and entertaining with that down to earth quality. But that image... once in a lifetime!!!
This is amazing. The best photograph I have ever seen. Well done James. Stunning. You have done us proud. 😍😍😍 Little Winkie will never be the same again.😂

Every astronomical event inspires me even further to learn more and advance in tools to see space stuff more up close. Thanks for your awesome video. Its so much better than what my ebay telescope has to offer lol
Saw the comet tonight and had to use binoculars and I'm no means an astrophotography but with my own eyes, it was amazing! You literally have to wait to till it really gets dark to be able to see the ion trails and my gosh the trail was like giving off a strobing lights from the comet because the comet is moving!
Hands down your finest hour(s) mate stunning image. We possibly get a view of this comet from the 28th in New Zealand.....hanging out to have a crack at it. Great work James top watch mate cheers.
Amazing mate, what a shot!! I've recently invested in my first camera and its definitely inspired me to get out there shooting the night sky. p.s I just purchased a used Samyang 14mm F2.8 off the back of your review, so keep up the good work 👍
What a stunning image. Thank you for sharing it with us. I got a few shots of the comet over here in New Hampshire but unfortunately I was a bit late and it was very dim in the night sky. But fun none the less!
Once in several lifetimes indeed. Great picture, congratulations. The sky has finally cleared here after two weeks. On my way out tonight looking for a dark enough spot. Probably near the dam at Halton hills waterfall.

What a fantastic result James, well worth waiting 23 years for. And it was good to see you hard at work taking the photographs at the Point.
Thanks Kevin - was nice to meet you 👍
Was it really? All I saw was a star with a small trail that resembled that of an airplane that moved as the night moved on.
You are a genius! Gotta watch several times this video to understand your technical explanations! Awesome work!
'Genius'...you are way too kind! 😂
STUNNING ..STUNNING SHOT !!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done James. One of the best photo's of the comet I have seen. The clouds on the horizon really make for s compelling scene.
Thanks Graeme - I was worried the clouds would ruin the shot but I agree that in some ways they actually enhance it 👍
OMG! James that is fantastic, this is a money shot.
