Mr. Knott (also named Walter) and Walt Disney were friends, and Knotts took out a full page ad in the local paper celebrating the opening of Disneyland, and wished them luck. Unlike today, where corporate giants try to put the others out of business.

One of the drivers was "Blackie Calhoun who mule trained supplies at Glacier National Park. This is one of my fondest moments. God Bless amusement parks that offer hope for the human race.
Knotts' Berry Farm was always my favorite place to have fun. In 1953 my 5th grade class had our yearly outing there and that was my first visit. Everything was free then including entrance and parking. You just had to pay, of course, for the items you purchased. The Ghost Town was the big attraction before any big rides were installed. I loved my first train ride on the old train, which perhaps is the same train they have now. Over the years I visited many times either with friends or family. They had wonderful clothing stores and candy shops and a terrific restaurant which served Southern fried chicken which apparently is still open...absolutely delicious. Great memories.

I went to Knotts in 1982 and have actually been on the Soapbox racer, Montazooma's revenge and the then first metal upside coaster, the cork screw. That's all that was there coaster wise in 1982, they also had a parachute drop ride back then too. Loved Knotts, great park
I miss Soapbox Racer as well... 😭im not scrapping the idea of bringing it back even if those d@$!# have high hopes of gig'ah next to ah residential... Like sha that would happen¡
And into the 90’s. Until Jaguar came along. I can’t remember if Windjammers was a 90’s coaster, too. I hate the fact that I never got on X-K1. I was scared! 😂 I loved Soapbox Racers. I remember loving the last part, when it got really “fast.” It funny. Seeing it today, I still remember where all that old stuff used to be.
The new re-themed dark ride looks awesome 👏🏻 !!! I love Knott’s Berry Farm, it’s not the biggest theme park in the world but it’s still world class and as amazing rides and theming throughout the park…..ps Ghost Rider is incredible
What amazes me is that the park has proudly celebrated 100 years and still going strong, there is so much history at this park, I really hope they can continue for another 100 🤪
I was there in June 1996.It was great.We liked the foutains and gardens not one for rollercoasters and we had a very nice meal in the restaurant. Mrs Knotts chicken dinner and boysenberry pie and custard for desert.
@11:45 what a classic!!! Love Montezuma's Revenge. In 1980 when I was 10, it was 10 minutes to closing time and my sisters and I were the only people on the ride. The ride operator gave us a special treat and kept it running back and forth continuously for about 10 cycles. It was spectacular! I hope they never retire this classic.
The Ghost Rider and Hang Time look amazing coasters especially at night. I always find it hilarious when Charlotte gets on a water rapids ride and it’s just so funny to see her get wet (bless her). Great vlog Shawn and Charlotte

Good to see parks are open longer in America. I'm so used to trying to cram as much as I can within a short space of time. To the point where you're planning routes around the park and eating food in lines.

So glad you guys had a great time at Knott's. You must come back during Halloween. Knott's Scary Farm's atmosphere is incredible. Knott's is at its best during Halloween and Christmas as there is so much to see and do. Ghost Town was at its best in the summers prior to the pandemic when they had the Ghost Town Alive celebration with a Wild West stunt show and alot of actors walking around Ghost Town creating scenes and storylines. You could follow them all day. Hopefully they'll bring it back in the near future.

Loved it there when I was younger. My family had a little shop in Ghost Town called Mott's Miniatures from 1958 to 1992. So I basically grew up at Knott's!
Glad to see you enjoyed Knott's so much. In my opinion it is one of the more under rated theme parks in the U.S. I think it sometimes gets lost in the shuffle in So. Cal. where there are so many other parks. But in my opinion it is a top park in the world and would be the top park in almost any other area. It will truly become world class if they get that giga to go along with the current rides and amazing theming.

This place looks amazing. When I was a kid Drayton manor had very similar theming with the old log flume and mine town area. Wonder if they got the inspiration from knotts? Wasn’t the train at Drayton called the Rio Grande too at one point?

How the heck did you guys manage to walk out of the park then pass Chicken to Go and the Berry Market without having bags of Chicken, sides, Boysenberry funnel cakes and pies? Not even a Boysenberry punch to go? Wow you two have remarkable restraint. There's no way I could do that 😂
I managed to do that when I went there for the first time this past October. Only because I had a horrible time with the park not living up to my standards and expectations. I did browse the boysenberry products, but lost interest and left without getting anything.
If memory serves Timber Mountain Log Ride was closed for you in 2020 so you've not ridden since it's complete refurb in 2019 into 2020. 😥Not ever closed for season, must be tech or reg maintenance. We rode it Christmas
Love Knotts Berry Park. We were able to visit it 3 years ago. Love their chicken dinner restaurant 😋. Ghost rider is extremely brilliant. Contrasting with the horrific Jaguar coaster which reminded me of how rough the corkscrew coaster used to be in Alton. Visit sad eye Joe in his jail cell ,Calico mine train. Just a brilliant park 👏 👌.

Shout out to KCI Engineering from little ol' West Des Moines, Iowa for the incredible lighting on Hangtime (as well as Monster at Adventureland), the new Lost Island theme park coming to Iowa is going to have their lights on the Ferris wheel and potentially future rides (like the relocated Kanonen or a different future coaster). I can't wait to visit Knott's sometime, it looks like a great park with a good variety of coasters and flats among a well-themed presentation and top-tier food, not to mention the awesome history!

I'm with Charlotte. Dont love super intense rides (only rode Mister Freeze in Texas once on 2 walk on days) and always enjoy a family thrill over any other coaster. RMC about max intensity I enjoy and most its intensity is in airtime. This park looks amazing though. Really want to ride their log flume and Calico's Mine, Jaguar, Pony Express and Montezuma's Revenge. So many solid rides. Really need to do my California trip.
I think that Timber Mountain Log Ride and Xcelerator are two of the best rides in the park. I really think Charlotte would love them. Xcelerator is quite similar to Stealth at Thorpe Park but it has an extra Helix at the end. Before the Wacky Soap Box Derby ride existed there was a motorcycle ride on the same structure called Motorcycle Chase. It had the same restraint as a typical Carousel Ride even though it went like 35 miles an hour over Hills and around corners. As a small kid it was extremely scary just because it felt like you were going to fall through the restraint and off the motorcycle.
Wonderful to see you at Knotts and love it as much as we do …. I’m surprised at how many Brits I speak to have still never heard of it ! 😊 mind you doesn’t help when virgin holidays still don’t know where it is 😂😂😂 and advertise it as being in Anaheim ?? Despite my emails to correct them . Makes me homesick but excited for my trip in March 🤞🤞 I’ve been visiting since 1999 and is my favourite theme park ….. so great to see charlottes first visit and reactions 👍👍

Seriously, I live in SoCal and the one park that would be my main choice to go to, is Knotts. I would go years inbetween Disney or Magic Mountain Trips, but Knotts has a charm that can't be beat. Plus you can't beat the staff or unique attractions...I know there are rumors of a Giga, but even without...it will never lose that feeling of being a top tier experience.
They are lucky..Calico Rapids used to have literal waterfalls that would pour water on all the riders so you would be completely soaked, lol, like your shoes would be squishy

This place looks amazing. When I was a kid Drayton manor had very similar theming with the old log flume and mine town area. Wonder if they got the inspiration from knotts? Wasn’t the train at Drayton called the Rio Grande too at one point?

33:13 The ride system of the dark ride reminds me of Ninjargo the ride at Legoland and then the screens remind me of Harrington Flints Island Adventure at Fantasy Island
How the heck did you guys manage to walk out of the park then pass Chicken to Go and the Berry Market without having bags of Chicken, sides, Boysenberry funnel cakes and pies? Not even a Boysenberry punch to go? Wow you two have remarkable restraint. There's no way I could do that 😂
I managed to do that when I went there for the first time this past October. Only because I had a horrible time with the park not living up to my standards and expectations. I did browse the boysenberry products, but lost interest and left without getting anything.

If memory serves Timber Mountain Log Ride was closed for you in 2020 so you've not ridden since it's complete refurb in 2019 into 2020. 😥Not ever closed for season, must be tech or reg maintenance. We rode it Christmas

Love Knotts Berry Park. We were able to visit it 3 years ago. Love their chicken dinner restaurant 😋. Ghost rider is extremely brilliant. Contrasting with the horrific Jaguar coaster which reminded me of how rough the corkscrew coaster used to be in Alton.
Visit sad eye Joe in his jail cell ,Calico mine train. Just a brilliant park 👏 👌.

Shout out to KCI Engineering from little ol' West Des Moines, Iowa for the incredible lighting on Hangtime (as well as Monster at Adventureland), the new Lost Island theme park coming to Iowa is going to have their lights on the Ferris wheel and potentially future rides (like the relocated Kanonen or a different future coaster).
I can't wait to visit Knott's sometime, it looks like a great park with a good variety of coasters and flats among a well-themed presentation and top-tier food, not to mention the awesome history!

I'm with Charlotte. Dont love super intense rides (only rode Mister Freeze in Texas once on 2 walk on days) and always enjoy a family thrill over any other coaster. RMC about max intensity I enjoy and most its intensity is in airtime. This park looks amazing though. Really want to ride their log flume and Calico's Mine, Jaguar, Pony Express and Montezuma's Revenge. So many solid rides. Really need to do my California trip.

I think that Timber Mountain Log Ride and Xcelerator are two of the best rides in the park. I really think Charlotte would love them. Xcelerator is quite similar to Stealth at Thorpe Park but it has an extra Helix at the end.
Before the Wacky Soap Box Derby ride existed there was a motorcycle ride on the same structure called Motorcycle Chase. It had the same restraint as a typical Carousel Ride even though it went like 35 miles an hour over Hills and around corners. As a small kid it was extremely scary just because it felt like you were going to fall through the restraint and off the motorcycle.

Wonderful to see you at Knotts and love it as much as we do …. I’m surprised at how many Brits I speak to have still never heard of it ! 😊 mind you doesn’t help when virgin holidays still don’t know where it is 😂😂😂 and advertise it as being in Anaheim ?? Despite my emails to correct them . Makes me homesick but excited for my trip in March 🤞🤞 I’ve been visiting since 1999 and is my favourite theme park ….. so great to see charlottes first visit and reactions 👍👍

Seriously, I live in SoCal and the one park that would be my main choice to go to, is Knotts. I would go years inbetween Disney or Magic Mountain Trips, but Knotts has a charm that can't be beat. Plus you can't beat the staff or unique attractions...I know there are rumors of a Giga, but even without...it will never lose that feeling of being a top tier experience.
They are lucky..Calico Rapids used to have literal waterfalls that would pour water on all the riders so you would be completely soaked, lol, like your shoes would be squishy
