Not to long ago we would just burn this off but today with all the air quality standards and climate change we have had to adopt to new ways to maintain our properties, This Flail Mower is certainly one great way to clean up a property. Keep in mind it is common to start fires when hitting rocks with mowers. Here on the Alaska Highway they shut down mowing operations along the sides of the Highway during the dry season after many fires had raged out of control very quickly. Your Mower did an excellent job.
@@danielmoore6507 one of my customer had a kubota bx and sold it to buy a 1025R only because of the treadle pedal. I guess you either love it or hate it.
Man, what a perfect mower. Really a smooth cut too. No clumping or bogging down, just wades right thru anything in its path. Very good demonstration. I can't remember your name and you told us onetime I can't remember so I'll just call you Frank. Love your videos Frank 👍🇺🇸
The offset flail looks easy to clean up to the tree trunks while keeping the tractor cab out of the lower limbs. My batwing extends wider than the tractor but not as far as this flail mower. I really have to be careful not to damage my cab. Nice setup!
That is one GREAT mower! I have a Caroni flail, but the offset capability of the Del Marino is fantastic! There are areas I need more offset then the Caroni allows (the Caroni doesn't offset hydraulically, it has two positions to rig the 3PH frame) I've been considering a hydraulic offset flail for a year or two...and I think I've found the one I want... Great video...thanks for posting!!
Great video .Also liked the parts looking down from the air. The flail mower looks more and more like a way to go. That was a good area to put the stump wrecker and the flail mower through there paces. Just those videos alone should go along way in selling those two quality products . Again good job Courtney!. I have always preferred a brush hog but my dad loves s flail mower. Likes the way it spreads the grass out instead of windrowers. Love you channel. Wish you had a dealership a little further south. Just bought s new Kubita M4-71. Keep posting thanks.
All attachments come with a learning curve, based on your personal land usage and how to experiences. Never is two property’s are the same. A very useful attachment you might try is a hydraulic top link.
Great episode on what that upper end 2-plane flail can do. Especially nice job cleaning up the uprooted trees next to the trailer (from the stump bucket episode?) at the very end... talk about nail-biting suspense for us A.R. landowner types! ;-)
this appears to be a potentially awesome tool. I really enjoy your videos although i cant say i comment a lot. In consideration of purchasing one of these for my deere 4 series, a couple of questions arise, the first and most apparent being that when it is hydraulically extended, say down in a ditch scenario, it appears to put a heck of a load on the R.H. side lower 3 pt arm to the point where that arm actually looks lower than the left side... I would guess it would also have a load on the top link. All of the weight of the machine extended like that, while in operation... do you recommend any counterweight to the L.H. side of the 3 pt? Id hate to run one of these machines and have too much load on 3 pt to the point that I have trans case cracks or transaxle housing cracks because it has an abnormal amount of load to one side. Just curious if you or anyone you know has also had this question?
Several questions: 1. Can the cutting rollers be swapped out; hammer or y cutting? 2. Did you feel that you needed to cut so low that you were scalping? Finally, I certainly like your tractor. Best wishes.
Hmm, the big black roller on the back or the tube with the flails attached? It takes a bit to figure out how to set cut height. I got the hang of it towards the end. Was lowering too far early on.
The flail mower is a very compelling mowing attachment to consider! Especially the hydraulic articulating model. Flat land, sloped land, ditch banks vertical hedging, grass and weeds, small stickups.....just what does it not do? But then, rear hydraulics is must too! Almost makes brush hogs obsolete (except for cost) Geez! Just dig into my pocket deeper.
The flail mower is an impressive piece of equipment. "just what does it not do?" you ask. For me you are on point about the hydraulics. My Kubota 3901 doesn't have rear hydraulics. So that would even add more to the cost of the additional cost of the flail mower. Also, he said the flail mower has a 2" max cut. My 6' Bush Hog brush cutter has a considerable larger maximum cut size. The limbs are a pain riding the tractor under them while bush hogging but, I'm slowly cutting a lot of them out of the way to make it easier. I'm not saying the flail mower isn't worth their extra cost but, if there hadn't been such a big cost difference I probably would have a flail mower now.
I'm looking at a similar mower, different company. Wondering how the 2 compare side by side? The unit I'm looking at for my LS6158 (49pto hp) is the Maschio Giraffa M 180 SE. Not sure your Hp on that John Deere? The thing that makes me nervous, is that I do not have the protection of a cab. I watched a lot of debris getting kicked up.
Great video as always mate here in ireland a britain we use the flail on the front of the tractors we can get front pto and linkage from a 1 series up after market kits but id say would be very popular with yerselfs in america you can also put a 3rd knife between the 2 grass knifes and verti cut with them
3 questions: 1) How well does it handled hitting a a big rock, uneven surfaces, or mud? My yard is a mixture of grass, weeds, marsh, brush, and lots of rocks. If like to start clearing it and was hoping I could use something like this. The offset would also be useful since I have lots of ditches and ledges. 2) What size flail would be suitable to a 1025r? 3) Which brands do you consider to be the most reliable?
Looking at getting the same model but with a manual offset, not hydraulic. My big old Brush-Hog does an ugly job and it's unwieldy on the back of my 40HP Tractor.
I would like to see one used in the summer cutting thick and tall up to 3' grass and saplings but not at golf course heights. How do they do cutting at 4 or 5" high. Thinking of replacing my brush hog with one
So this mower is designed to drop right on the ground and “float” on the contour of the land? I am looking for the most versatile offset type mower to keep tree/woods line at bay from encroaching fields. Kinda stuck between one of these and a loader mount mower like Laneshark. Getting tired of “backing” into the woods with a brush hog ALL the way around my fields🙄
@Todd: I'm in the same dilemma as you were. Have woods that keep encroaching every year. Tired of the chainsaw/polesaw/hedge trimmer route. Currently looking at a Laneshark/Trailblazer, Sicklebar mower, or a flail mower. Trying to decide which would be the best. Did you ever get one of those? Any recommendations?
Great video! Just bought a Kioti 5310 se and am looking for a mower for maintenance on 80 acres. I have a Land pride RC 48” for my bx24, but I am quite interested in a flail.
Just an FYI about something I've noticed becoming common place on videos both on this channel and others, the high pitched "bell ding" sound effect that are being put into videos during the subscribe plug is a noted cause of a tinnitus spike for me. I constantly have to keep my fingers on the arrow keys while watching videos like this so I can rapidly skip these sections. Due to their usual semi random placement within the video I don't always catch them. That bell sound effect will commonly trigger a tinnitus spike for me, leading to about 5-10 seconds where I can't hear anything other than a high pitched whine. This is an extremely frustrating affliction that has no known cure and I've found myself stopping watching some channels due to this fact. If I can't sit back and relax while watching a video, then it becomes work to watch, and nobody wants more work. I like your channel and your content and I would be grateful if the high pitched bell ring sound effect would be removed from future videos.
Thanks for the great video. A flail mower like this is a luxury many do not need and at twice the cost (or more) of a bushhog it would be hard to justify.
I get that gouging in left turns with mine too. But I think its because I don't have a float function at the rear for the tilt function. I think if the roller could float on the ground, I'd get much better results. HINT: If you can find a way to convert a rear remote to float, you'd have at least 1 customer.
Not sure if it is common with all the brands, but have seen a video that demonstrates the tilt control on the flail has a slot and you need to keep the cylinder connection centred in the slot so the tilt can float. EDIT: I just remembered it was Tractor Time With Tim that demonstrated that feature
@@stephennowlan2637 I've seen that type also. Unfortunately, mine has a solid cylinder connection and the manufacturer says you have to hook it up with a float function. Some run hoses to the loader ports, but I'm afraid of not having the loader weight up front when using it.
@Peter Campbell, yes, check out Shady Oaks Farm you tube video of the Peruzzo flail mower demo, the operator states the radiator/ grill stays much cleaner, after the first initial pass through the brush, then utilizing the offset feature of the mower, the tractor drives in the previous mowed path where the brush is cut and below the grill…good benefit, especially mowing in high and dry grass and brush, With my 1025R using a 48” brush hog, I was constantly cleaning out the debris screen during large area mowing, machine running hot and time consuming. Just purchased a Peruzzo 1600 fox cross ditch flail mower for my new 2038R.. too much snow to use now, (lol) looking forward to springtime. Hope this helps….have fun…
How hard is it to replace the hammer blades on that mower. So far from your video I've been pretty impressed with the flail versus the brushhog. ....oops, I just answered my own question by watching the rest of your vid where you showed the up close pics of the flails. Looks like you just loosen one bolt and replace the flails, easy. :)
I was wondering about that myself. Looks like he dug into the ground a lot towards the beginning. I was looking for a flail mower until I saw the difference in price and ended up with a used Rhino finish mower. I've been thinking about getting an articulating brush cutter though. I'd like to have one I could use on my Bobcat T650 but, may have to settle for a smaller one I can use on the Kubota 3901 I bought last year.
A disc mower is better if you plan to make hay, since it cuts the stuff at the bottom and leaves long stalks and stems. The flail mulches everything up really fine and doesn't leave any windrows. I guess it depends on what you want to do after you mow. :)
That's what I like about my Bush Hog brush cutter. It just jerks my old stumps out of the ground. I've pulled a lot out with it. Not huge one's though. Probably up to around 6" ones
Would be worried about starting a fire, its so dry and you did hit a rock, thats all it takes sometimes, too bad you can't carry water in the front bucket just incase.
