I have to disagree with you on 2 things concerning this video. 1. Healthcare should be free for ALL American citizens based on the following going into number 2. 2. Not sure if you've noticed but fast food or cheap processed foods you find at stores aren't the only issues of weight gain & lack of health. Realize the stuff you'd think was good for you or deemed "organic" even isn't in some cases. Whole Foods has been in trouble over this several times now. The biggest thing that gets me is the high fructose corn syrup that's in just about EVERYTHING we consume or whatever other synthetic sugar that's needlessly put into foods, drinks, that causes long term health affects. Big Pharma is headquartered here in America & we're all test subjects of various chemicals, poisons, & whatever else is out there to harm people. This government & administration is EVIL & has silently declared war on it's people for a long time now....

I feel like these people would have a field day with the fact that I want to lose my baby weight from my kids. Didn’t know it was fatphobic for me to want to be healthy and lead a good life for our kids.
having so much food that your body has to store all the extra energy because it can’t use it all, is privileged. like, if you’re eating 5000 calories a day YOU ARE NOT OPPRESSED
In my early adulthood I was super skinny, people thought I was anorexic. And I was just going hungry because I couldn’t afford it. Never got fat from eating nothing. Being fat is a privilege.
A therapist called my mom fatphobic and promoting eating disorders when she bought me medication to supress my apetite. I was 15 and 205 lbs at 5'6. I was depressed and I was a binge eater. My doctor told her this was the best way. And now, I'm 16 and 115 lbs. My natural body type has always been thin when I'm eating normally. 16 months got me here. THANK GOD MY MOM DIDN'T LISTEN TO THIS BODY POSITIVITY BS! I feel better. Plus, I can walk up the stairs without wheezing and I can run around and do normal things.
@@alicianieto2822 no what i mean is it started as anxiety but the medication makes my brain not produce the thing that tells me I’m hungry so I don’t feel like eating.
as someone with a thyroid imbalance, it’s SO annoying when they bring that up as a reason to be obese yes im more prone to gain weight easily THAT DOESNT MEAN IM GONNA BE A FVCKING PIG AND OVEREAT
I had an underactive thyroid for 14 years and was underweight most of that time. I had my thyroid removed last year due to thyroid cancer, so I have to be even more careful with my meds now. I did put on a few pounds after my surgery, but I took that as a sign to make sure my eating and exercise gets back on track before I wind up gaining a ton. I'm at a healthy weight now.
same here. i have Hashimoto and it's very easy for me to gain weight, with meds i have i lost weight but with diligent daily light excersizing I'm maintaining a healthy weight,i could use so many excuses but nuh uh, i would rather be healthy and skinny.
Oh i have an underacting thyroid as well ao im extra careful about what i eat and exercise cause i heard its easy to gain weight and im on a healthy weight now :)
FR before i was diagnosed with hashimoto's i gained like 5 pounds not 200 😭 realistically you're prob not going to gain more than 20 pounds due to hormone imbalances without a significant change in your diet
That is a good example of postmodernist practice of redefinition of concepts claiming to be for purpose of being "inclusive" while in reality being divisive and disruptive when the effect is common understanding in communication is basically sabotaged.
Exactly. It's so insulting to hear them claim that. I've been in actually life threatening situations in my 20s so to hear people equate hurt feelings to feeling unsafe comes off rude as f- and is diluting the meaning off the word. That is not helpful for anyone.
I am obese. Watching these ppl trying to praise being fat makes me want to lose it more. I’m taking steps to do just that. I hate being fat. It’s not fun and don’t listen to those who say it’s great. It’s not. I can’t breathe over half the time and I can’t go shopping for more than 20 minutes before I feel back and leg pain. No thanks. I’m done. It’s coming off.
AS MY MOTHER ALWAYS SAID, when you start to notice yourself gaining weight, start exercising more as soon as you can. It’s easier to lose 4 pounds than 40
When I messed up my metabolism, I was literally gained 10 pounds overnight. Sometimes it was from eating an apple, which was the only thing that changed in my diet. Prior to my metabolism being messed up, I can eat whatever I wanted no calorie limit and I would never gain weight now I have to watch and be very careful.
This is why i subscribed. Im so flipping tired of being labeled fatphobic for losing 50 lbs for my health and for my self confidence and my endometriosis. I get attacked for being thinner and going to the gym and working hard to change my mental mindset that lead to depression and over eating.
They don't actually believe that you're "fat phobic", they just don't like when other people succeed in changing their lifestyle because then it takes away the option for them to lie and say "it's not a choice".
He deleted the video because it made people feel “unsafe.” I don’t even know what that word means anymore. A total stranger making videos online that have nothing to do with you make you feel unsafe? Just don’t watch. I’m perplexed.
Far too many people have become weak and emotionally fragile. And because society wants to coddle them, they remain that way. Weak, fragile and unable to deal with the slightest inconvenience or perceived slight.
ikr? He said nothing bad about fat people. He just told his experiences. When I used to be fatter than I'm now, I didn't demand movie theaters to change their chairs for me. I simply didn't go to the movie theaters and waited the movie come out on DVD.
Too true. They never had any adversities in life that "words" hurt their feelings and make it unsafe. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.
“The diet industry is a multi-billion dollar industry” In 2016, the aggregate medical cost due to obesity among adults in the United States was $260.6 billion. Obesity is also a billion dollar industry.
The big corporations, duet industry, big pharma, fast food companies all want us fat & unhealthy. Itsbuv money. They'd be out of a job if we all were healthy.
The audacity from that first guy saying you have uninvestigated fatphobia, and the arrogant look in his eyes! Really gave me the ick. So self righteous and holier than thou.
I was told growing up since I had PCOS it would be too hard to lose weight. It’s depressing being told that as a kid (diagnosed at age 11 weighing 160lbs) and I gave up trying. I made a mental prison of my own making. It’s why misinformation can be dangerous to your health. Thankfully I lost all my excess weight and am healthier, but I lost so many years I could have been enjoying life.
@@moonfowlee1365 for me diet was 90% my issue. Having pcos besides combating insulin resistance there is inflammation. I first went on a Mediterranean diet and saw huge improvements. I also started walking daily, rain or shine. The willpower was tested A LOT because I have a serious sweet tooth. I instead use sweets as a weekly treat instead of cutting it out completely. When I lost about 150lb I started a new diet that was very low carb high protein (carnivore). Helped when I added weights to my work out routine. I did the bariatric surgery but only lost 30lbs on it. My diet has always been poor so fixing that was the key to success.
@@moonfowlee1365 As someone who's also struggling with PCOS, which has made weight loss very difficult, I'd say have a conversation with your doctor. It's going to be a frustrating journey figuring out what works for you, but it's important to know you have options. For the way my life is, with my mental health struggles, neurodivergency, and my environment which doesn't always have easy access to healthy food, ozempic + exercise has been the perfect fit. Most importantly, be patient with yourself on your journey. You will slip up and make mistakes. That's life. One thing that's helped me is looking in the mirror and thinking one thing I like about myself, physically or mentally, to get myself motivated to take care of my body.
@moonfowlee1365 CICO (calories in, calories out) is the key, certain conditions can make it harder to lose weight but you can't defy physics LOL! reddit has a fantastic CICO community where you can find great resources on how to start counting, create goals, etc. best of luck

I can’t stand the body positive movement. I used to be over 250 pounds and almost got put on blood pressure meds when I was in college. Being that obese was nobody’s fault but my own. Just like it was 100% my choice and responsibility to lose the weight and keep it off. The problem with this movement is that it’s not about stopping bullying or “shaming”, but instead it’s about deflecting all responsibility from one’s self.
"Being fat or overweight is highly stigmatized in Western culture." If these people knew anything outside of their bubble, They would know that it's highly stigmatized in just about EVERY culture in the world. The West is actually the most accepting of it, unfortunately.
Yeah like in Japan being a healthy weight is considered fat 😂 I think there's a healthy medium between being jerks to people who are just a bit chunky (being a little chubby does not indicate poor health!) versus worshipping fat people and food addictions.
That’s wrong. Research about Mauritanians for example. People in East Asia would consider you and the creator of this video fat. Does that make you fat? People forget the definition of being fat is subjective.
Everyone in my family that I live with is overweight. There's always unhealthy foods and snacks around. I was becoming fat too, telling myself "it's genetics and that's just how my body is going to be no matter how I eat". Then I started counting my calories and realize I absolutely was overeating. Started being careful and going to the gym. I lost weight, look good and feel good. Not only that but my acne mostly cleared up too... and I spend a lot less money on restaurants and Uber lol
The "it's cheaper to eat junk food" is a lie. Rice and vegetables are some of the cheapest things at the grocery store. You're just being too lazy to cook your meals.

A few points. Binge eating disorder is a real eating disorder. Mine stems from childhood neglect and abuse. Also there are certain conditions (PCOS, hashimotos, thyroid issues) that make losing weight harder, and gaining weight easier). Not impossible….but definitely harder. There are also medications (such as many anti psychotics) that do cause weight gain. Seroquel makes you so hungry it hurts. Like real hunger pains within 15-30 minutes of taking it. I deal with all these issues…..I have managed to lose 43kg (94lb) in less than 2 years. It’s been hard. Omg so so so hard. The body positivity movement was meant for people who had body issues they were struggling to OVERCOME. Not to enable eating disorders and unhealthy lifestyles. It started with things like “go on that trip, go on that date, wear that outfit”, because if you keep waiting to be “perfect” you’ll never do those things. Not “not slay queen never change or try and better yourself you’re perfect as you are”. It used to encourage self love by self growth. Now it’s just about narcissism
100% agree. I had PCOS and never knew. I struggled for ni reason for 10 years, just like you. Because society, the military, my doctors, wrote me off as lazy. I can say from experience too ithard. I went from 110 lbs all my life to 263 lbs (at 5'0" tall) and gave up. Nothing was working so it must be me. I hot diagnosed randomly and after knowledge/validation, treatment for life and surgery for the excess weight I no longer could exercise of with a disabled back and other unrelated major health issues, I'm now back to 118 lbs at 40 sharing my 19 year olds clothes and being called the big sister of 4 instead of the mother of 3 girls. I wish the movement wasn't taken over because it's such an important conversation we need to have and medical research and treatment that needs more.
Ugh it’s so frustrating how people have high jacked a movement that was meant for those who struggle with eating disorders, and made it a scapegoat for lack of personal accountability. We’ve lost all nuance to the conversation. The people who are severely obese are not doing the internal work to figure out WHY they overeat. Many of them have binge eating disorders, or use food as a coping mechanism, and instead of getting help and overcoming their demons, they just continue down the same path of self-destruction. There is no other addiction that has an acceptance movement. Can you imagine an alcoholism acceptance movement?
not to mention body positivity was also for amputees and paraplegics who were struggling with body dysmorphia and/or feeling negatively about their bodies
Another person who doesn't understand the origins of "body positivity" and what it's about trying to hijack it, huh? NOPE. Body positivity was actually started to stop people bullying those who have physical DEFORMITIES from birth defects or other medical conditions like psoriasis.
I've always had the same belief of: "Maybe you should be scared of things that can kill you, a healthy amount of fear is a good thing." Do you see anyone saying "Oh your phobic against snakes!! That's wrong! Go up and pet that wild snake!!" Why should we give unhealthy weight different treatment? Stay strong, keep aware of the things that hurt you, live a strong, good life
As a taller woman, (5’10) it is often a struggle to find pants that fit well. However, I have never been offended or felt personally targeted by a brands jeans not fitting me. I find stores that do have pants that fit my legs, and move on with my day. Clothing companies shouldn’t be expected to cater to the minority of body types; that just doesn’t make sense for a business
Same except Im petite (5’1”). Women’s shirts and pants are too long even at the smallest size. Crop tops look like normal shirts on me 😂. And children’s clothes are far too juvenile for an adult woman to wear. Got a sewing machine and I tailor my clothes because I have no other choice lol.
They really should do something about tall sizes being easier to find. Petites are much easier to find, but tall is nearly impossible for women. I did find that as I got heavier I could wear regular pants because they stretch the whole thing, wider waist equals longer length. I’m not huge but I could be skinnier. My thyroid crashed fast and I can no longer eat like I used to so I’ve adjusted but it happened quick and I now struggle to lose the weight. Fasting is not good and can actually lead to more obesity. Eating healthy and doing small changes to calorie intake is healthy and creating healthy habits are the only way to get to a healthy size/weight and stay there.
Im the exact opposite, being very small, and xxs clothes arent always being sold. At least with shirts i can buy larger ones but the pants gotta fit. Cant really buy them in the kids section either because teenage girls dont usually have as wide hips and thighs as adults do. It took me multiple stores to actually find shorts i liked and that werent too big but im not gonna dwell too much on how the other stores did not have shorts under size L
@@ghostthelizard true and the fact that mediums and smalls get sold out faster because those are more popular. my biggest issue is I specifically prefer to dress in men’s clothes, and they *for sure* never have things for my size..
My best friend used to be upwards of 360 lbs., I nagged the hell out of him for a long time until I finally convinced him to exercise and diet with me, it's been a nightmare at times to keep him focused and motivated, but over the past couple of years he's managed to drop more than 150 lbs. and it makes me very proud to see what he's accomplished, anyone who says these things can't be done is just making excuses not to put in the work.
I got pulled into one of these “acceptance” movements when I was in a real crisis too. I felt so lost getting out of one cult I fell for another. It isn’t real acceptance though; the minute I crossed the invisible forbidden line I was attacked and ostracized.
Good for you!!! 🙌🏻❤️ this resonates with me as well. Mental health crisis basically when covid & post partum depression hit at the same time & I watched tons of FA videos & feel like I got “sucked in” next thing I knew I was 230. Ever since I started losing that weight & literally escaping from this toxic mindset, Ive never felt better. It truly is a death cult. I was SO unhealthy & felt terrible.
You say so many things out loud that a lot of us regular people think on quite a daily basis and it’s so refreshing to be able to get on UA-cam of all places that loves to sensor content, creators, and say what the actual freaking truth is with heart! I will forever watch your content. 4:50
You’re not ugly and you can do it! Just eat tons of fruits and vegetables, go on long walks in nature/hikes, and cut out processed foods. After 2-3 months your sense of taste will naturally adjust and you will start loving healthy foods and naturally lose weight over time without starving. Love and take care of yourself.
What body positivity and body acceptance should be: Loving yourself at any size, having self-worth and respect and to not be berating and bullied at wherever you are on your body journey. It should also come with recognizing and being motivated to take care of it, to not be complacent with unhealthy choices and lifestyles. What it is: I'm fat, the world is fat phobic for not being designed around my health issues and men who aren't attracted to me are white racists.
The reason why most clothing companies don`t manufacture in super large sizes is because they want to make a product that is going to work well for the majority of their consumer base and fit the average adult body! This is how they make money! This is the reason why many amputees and other disabled folks have to get clothing specially made or altered. The vast majority of people have 2 arms and 2 legs, so clothing companies make their products for people with 2 arms and 2 legs!
Oh my god THANK YOU 🙏 I scoured the internet trying to find anyone in support of Leo and could not find anything!! He was so honest and was coming from a good place. If you were offended by his video - take time to reflect
Drives me crazy when people say it's cheaper to eat out... With some time and effort, buying groceries are WAY WAY WAY cheaper than fast food... I feed a family of 4 (healthily) on around $250 a month. In my state (WA), average monthly grocery cost is $400 PER PERSON! Even $400/mo is cheaper than eating out all the time, but trust me, it can be done way cheaper. I religiously shop the sales for our weekly needs, and twice a year I make a trip to the discount stores and buy my staples in bulk. I spent a year going to all of the discount stores and keeping notes of the prices at each place. Discovered that canned foods are cheapest at Winco, rice is cheapest at walmart, Pink himalayan salt is (crazy enough) cheapest at Ross and Dollar Store, toilet paper is cheapest at Costco, etc etc. The big grocery stores like Safeway have amaaaazing weekly deals that are often cheaper than the discount stores, but in limited quantities. You just have to be careful not to let them suck you into buying full-price items, or junk food that you don't need just because it's on sale. I also do pantry and freezer cleanouts for people in my community and make use of items that other people throw out. For instance, I got a couple hundred pounds of very old freezer-burned lamb for free, during a move-out clean. I trimmed meat for days... The dogs got the freezer-burned parts on the outside, and I used or canned what was still good. We ate free home-grown lamb for WEEKS. It just took the willingness to drop everything and go get the meat, then the time and effort to unwrap and trim it all. The thing to keep in mind, is that it's not going to be glamorous, but it can still be varied and delicious. For instance, I had all that lamb last month. At Safeway, carrots were on sale. And my friend that works at the food bank gave me a whole box of extra cabbage. So one night we had lamb roast with carrots and potatoes. The next night it was lamb salami fried up with carrots and cabbage over white rice. Then ground lamb chili with cabbage and bagged beans (which are way cheaper than canned). Another night I sliced a roast into steaks and served it with parmesan-crusted carrots and butter pasta (that I got on sale for 99 cents a few weeks ago). By working variety in where and how you can, you can make a lot happen with a single type of meat. During one meal I started laughing out loud, because I realized I had just fed 3 adults and a teenager a nutritious dinner for approximately a dollar. Total. For lunch at work, we eat ham sandwiches for pennies a day. I get whole spiral sliced hams when they're on sale, and painstakingly break them down. Large nice slices go into glass tupperware containers and into the freezer at work for sandwiches. The small slices get diced and put into a soup or chili. Big chunks of meat get cubed up and used for stir fry or chowder. Fat and bones go into the freezer bag for making broth. At the end of the day, that one $10 ham will give us 4-5 full dinners, a quart of broth, and lunches for at least a month... Do we get sick of ham? Absolutely. So I bring dinner leftovers whenever we have them, and IF we have the money we'll go out for fast food every couple weeks. Otherwise we just suck it up and eat what we have. Another part of the non-glamor, is that I don't stock the house with snacks. You'd be SHOCKED at how much money (and calories) that saves. Are you wanting a snack? Grab a carrot, or make yourself a quesadilla from scratch, or wait for dinner. If you put in the time and effort, you CAN eat CHEAP.
Damn you have skills! I don’t have the patience for it and get easily sucked into buying the full priced items. I’m a sucker! I really need to try harder because these prices are no joke.
Your story reminds me of my time watching coupon wars as a kid. I very much enjoyed reading your story. Similar to your lamb/ham, my family is sick of pork. We killed our pig last year & are still eating from the 100 lbs of meat we got from him. Even after giving away lots of sausage to family & friends.
@@Cozy.snowflakes Exactly! Eat what you've got! One thing though, is that if you halt all buying of meat until your pork is gone, you'll be stuck buying meat at full price once you're out. Because I have backup meat in the freezer, I have power as a consumer. I still regularly buy meat, but ONLY when it's a great price. That gives my family variety, stretches out our frozen surplus, and keeps us taking advantage of the best deals!
You’re very correct! Fast food is so expensive. Learning how to buy and cool groceries properly is a skill, but when you start to learn how to do it it ends up being way cheaper in the long run
Omg it's so true. When I finally got my act together to start losing weight, I was amazed how much my grocery bill dropped. Just takes some meal planning & intentionality.
To remain at a healthy weight, I don’t think anyone really needs to exercise very much. I’m no health scholar, but I think the most important thing is just maintaining a healthy diet.
People rely too much on exercice to lose weight. It is a healthy habit, sure, and you should totally do it, but watching your diet is what is gonna result in weightloss.
Gotta love how these people say that you’re not a doctor or a medical professional so you don’t get to determine what’s “healthy” or not while ironically promoting the idea that being unable to move while on oxygen is somehow “healthy“ when it’s not and that you can be healthy at all sizes. Meanwhile my family is every shape and size and still suffers from Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
i’ve been struggling to find time to workout because i’m a single mom with a 7 month old but i make sure i AT LEAST walk for 30 mins-1 hr if i can’t fit it in. there’s things you can do
I have degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis, nerve damage, arthritis in my back and rheumatoid arthritis in my hands, failed back surgery syndrome (yes, that's a real thing). Working out, like running, weight lifting, etc., is just not something I can do like most folks. However, I stopped eating candy (giving up my peanut m&m's and Twix sucked!) and chips, and I cut out sugar (no more sweet tea 😢) was really hard. Since doing that, I've lost 35 pounds alone! I feel better, I drink nothing but water, my joints feel better, my pain will always be there, but losing the weight makes getting around a hell of a lot easier! Anything is possible if you want it bad enough. Wearing my skinny jeans again feels better than m&m's taste!
Great job!, but frankly I don't understand when people go to the other extreme. 'oh I can never have a single piece of chocolate ever again' etc. That's not necessary. Having the occasional treat if you otherwise eat healthily isn't going to make any negative difference to your weight. Just don't have chocolate or sweet tea as a routine.
@@diarmuidkuhle8181 I mean... if it's working for them, why not? Besides, what you're suggesting is 88 level difficulty. Tbh this was kinda a reality check for me. I’ve been overweight/obese all my life thinking I was helpless and this is just the way things “are” for me. Thanks for spitting the true facts ❤ ima try even harder to get myself together
There is a massive difference between being overweight and going about your life and being on social media where primarily children are the viewing audience and spreading misinformation and lies with negative consequences. A lot of fat acceptance activists will try and blur the line by gaslighting people into believing they are being attacked for being overweight. In reality, they are pushing harmful lifestyles to young and / or expressionable people who will have real-life consequences. They also refuse to accept accountability for the damage they have done and will try and scapegoat accountability.
I've been a fatty all my life until 28 and I used the excuse of hypothyroidism because I was diagnosed at 23 years with it. Some day one of my friends told me that for real this is not an excuse, because I was simply eating chaotically, drinking alcohol, and smoking 2 cigarettes packs per day. I was having the worst lifestyle. That day I just decided to watch me in the mirror and realise I am just lazy, not doing exercises, eating my emotions and so on. I started with diet and gym, supervised by a trainer. I lost almost 20 kg in one year, I continue now to lose weight and I will follow this schedule all my life. It is just about discipline and health, and yes, this is why the body positivity concept is annoying because is not promoting health and well-being as some people believe. I was not fond of it not even when I was fat. Just fight and overcome your weaknesses! Being fat is not healthy. I hate gym, I hate doing exercises, but I am doing it for me, I am strong and I will not give up on it.
I am in good shape but like how do these people afford this much food? To eat that much costs a ton of money. I am talking about these 400lb people, they must be consuming like 8000 calories a day. So much money.
It's ironic that they claim that poor people are fat and yet food is so expensive, that it's almost a luxury. Processed food and takeout is so expensive that it makes you question how a poor person could afford pre make meals in the frozen aisles. You would think it would be the opposite because, you're paying a higher price for the convenience of ready made food. Like I could make a home made pizza that's way cheaper than dominos.
There’s an argument in the fat positive community that even if they reduce caloric intake, they still won’t lose weight because their bodies are “just made that way.” Their reference that no body is immune to starvation was a response to that point. He just forgot to explicitly mention that this is a common argument of theirs
She made that point for the people that believe that even if they reduce their calorie intake that they’ll still be fat. If that was the case , that there are people who can become fat even from eating the normal amount, then you would see at least a few an obese people in concentration camps but we didn’t . That’s the point. She is not saying starve yourself .
On the you can eat cheap and healthy if you cook at home topic, I can confirm. I like cooking, but I used to get a lot of takeaways and eat a lot of junk when I was tired and though that time wasn't on my side. Then I started to do meal preps on the weekends and started to save a lot of money. The only downside was that the food will lose its taste after a few days, or that I will get tired of eating the same stuff a few days in a row. Then I changed my tactic, and instead I started to prepare the ingredients to have them ready for a fast meal. I'll buy meat from the butchery, and I'll cut it in smaller pieces and freeze them individually in bags and leave a piece to defrost before going to work to have it ready for dinner. I do the same with some vegetables after cutting them into pieces to have them ready, but I also buy frozen mixes because regardless of what some people say, frozen vegetables can retain more nutrients than those left unfrozen for days. Plus, some mixes are somehow cheaper if they contain stuff that isn't locally available, like the Chinese mix which contain wood ears and bamboo shots. This way, I can have different meals every day that are fast to cook. Things like pilaf, soups, stews and salads do not require much time to cook, especially when you already have the ingredients ready because you spent 1-2 hours during the weekend to make your life easier for the rest of the week. One thing I prepare in advance is oatmeal with yogurt and some blueberries because it gets better after a few days, and it's a good breakfast. Ordering food will for dinner will cost me the same amount spent for 3-4 days of home cooked meals. Also, I have more control on the quantity and quality of the food and I managed to lose weight because I wasn't eating random crap every day.
there’s a difference between gaining weight/being fat because of an illness or a health problem and developing health problems because of your eating habits and a lot of people don’t understand that, honestly the whole body positivity movement lost its meaning ages ago and its sad
As someone who has recovered recently from anorexia i would just like to warn everyone that fasting can be dangerous and working out can be dangerous. I was fat af in middle school and then id watch videos like this and i stopped eating entirely and work out for a minimum of 6 hours each day. Needless to say it only took 3 years for me to go from 150 pounds down to 70 something (I was 15 almost 16 year old girl at that time). People don't know or realize how insensitive comments like "just fast" or "stop eating if youre fat" because especially as a young teen girl its so so easy to fall into those mindsets. I apologize for being soft and shit. Im now 17 and 120 lbs but I still feel fat af. Im also still not allowed to work out and shit because of my mom and the doctors not trusting me. I'm probably the last person to be watching this. I completely agree with parts of this video but its mainly super fit and skinny people talking about fatphobia which makes sense but as a young girl who NATURALLY is in-between a medium and a small its very difficult knowing there are other girls who are too fat to be skinny but too small to be overweight and were kinda just sitting here like "idk how to fix myself" even though this is naturally where your body needs to be. Sorry for the long rant yall. I absolutely love this guy's videos i just had to let it out there and again, sorry for being such a softie lol
Don't apologize for being "soft". This was literally me a few months ago. I'd lost, god knows how much, just before January 2024, got into 2024, then dropped about 18 pounds in two months, and wasn't showing any signs of stopping. I only really started being forced to get help when I didn't eat enough over 3 days, got up one day to make my Grandma's eggs, and ended up on the ground from passing out due to low blood sugar. I had a large second-degree burn on my face, but still couldn't get myself to eat regularly after more than a day or two because "what if I got fat again?!" (honestly I really regret this now). When these people say things like "Stop eating if you're fat" or "Just fast" they are, in their minds speaking to the adults who are ruining their bodies with overindulging; but we young, in the middle girls only see ourselves in that label. These adults should be able to recognize what they're doing to their bodies and how they can fix it but teenagers tend to automatically assume that they're the problem, even if it really is just a lifestyle or mental health issue. I'm 16 and like you, I agree with a lot of parts of this video but some of the things he said just made me cringe because I can literally see myself at 145 pounds watching a video just like this, and hearing this girl say that "if you're overweight the only thing you need to be doing for your body is fasting, exercising, and drinking water because being fat was 100% your fault". It's so easy to fall into these mindsets of "Oh I'm not good enough because I eat too much" or "Oh if I just didn't have this soda, or these chips, and focus on more healthy foods ill start to drop the weight" but that usually only leads your mindset into a path of "If i don't eat breakfast and lunch and only drink water all day I can stay "morning skinny" all day". I don't agree with the fat positivity movement but I also don't think that starving yourself, forcing yourself to obsessively workout, and only drinking water should be the "punishment" of being born a bit chubbier than the other kids around you. If you're unhappy with you're body you're allowed to change it, but it should only be done safely and with thought. Sincerely - a 16-year-old (recovering) anorexic with past binge eating disorders. Thank you for leaving this comment, it made me feel a bit less alone and a bit more seen. I kinda thought I was the only one for a long time, keep being you.
It’s not hard to eat healthy. My mom managed with all eleven of us, and none of us are fat. Nobody without a rare health issue is born fat and stuck that way. That’s such a damaging thing to teach. Some people’s parents didn’t teach them how to eat well, so they ended up being big from a young age. Okay. All they have to do is be active and stop eating junk. Your meals need the three macronutrients, and reach for veggies and hummus to snack on instead of Doritos. It’s not hateful to call obesity unhealthy. I love y’all, which means I want the very best for you, so I don’t want you to destroy your body.
I was raised in a ultra processed food house. There was never any raw ingredients to cook with, nor was there any produce. Everything I consumed, was prepackaged and came out of a box. The pantry, the fridge, and the freezer was nothing but garbage in plastic or cardboard. My mom was addicted to junk food and, she was too lazy to cook. The amount of times I had pizza rolls for dinner was crazy. My mom ordered takeout at least once a week and always bought $35 worth of Domino's for 3 people. She would always walk past the produce section of a grocery store and go straight to the aisles of junk food. I remember wanting to try different produce, and only to be told, "no" was frustrating. She claimed that $1.35 for a head of ice berg lettuce was "too expensive" but proceeded to buy a $5 bag of Doritos. I remember when she asked me if I wanted a bag of chips and, when I told her "no", she bought herself two family sized bags just for herself. 🤨 Her saying that, healthy food was expensive, was only an excuse for her to indulge in junk food. I wasn't allowed to get a salad at Wendy's because she thought it was a waste of money just because it was a salad. It's sadly hilarious that I was allowed to have a quarter pounder, with fries and a large frosty, but was denied a salad. Some parents just don't care if their child eats healthy and it's downright sad. My mom had all of the time in the world to learn how to cook and, accomplish it. However, she chose lying on the recliner and watching TV 24/7 instead.
@@gothica3605 wow thanks for sharing. I hope you’ve been able to become free from that lifestyle. Everyone should be able to advocate for their health. Dad’s a pediatrician and has sadly dealt with a lot of parents like this. It’s alarmingly common.
Exactly 500 cal of Doritos is not the same as 500 cal of steak. One is a predigested food with a break down the actual components make it into a slurry and then reform it into a product.
I love it when Amir just stops the video and stares at the camera without saying anything, with a look on his face that says, "there are no words for this stupid."

what size clothes are big enough? because, regardless of how many sizes brands make, someone somewhere still won’t fit in them. not all things should be inclusive to all people. that’s not how life works. nor should it be. and leo was right: “it’s the body that’s not flattering”
I was anorexic as a teen. I'm 25 now. I was TERRIFIED of being fat and thought I was massive when I was a teen because my parents would call me fat for growing out of my clothes when I was just a normal kid. I was tiny tiny. When I got pregnant, I couldn't just not eat for days like I used to so I gained a lot of weight, my son was huge but I kept on the fat. I like watching these videos because it motivates me. When I was pregnant, I have never been that heavy in my life... My back hurt, my cardio was shit, I felt sooo horrible and insecure. It was MY fault that I let myself go, I workout every single day now and have dropped quite a bit of weight, I even deadlifted 250lb the other day! These people are full of excuses. I see them use the ED excuse, it isn't one. I see them say they workout... No, they DON'T. "Ree I'm poor that's why I'm fat." Girl, no, you're fat because you're lazy and you feel entitled to people thinking you're attractive when you look like a goddamn whale. I don't understand how they can walk around with that much extra weight. When I was pregnant, I had 30 more lb and that made me feel like shit I can't imagine holding onto more than 100 more.
My mother way back 60 years ago was given drugs to help her acne that screwed up her body and made her stop producing things that help her lose weight. That and her mostly seditary lifestyle made her gain weight. I do understand that some people might lose weight with more difficulty than others, but the difference is mom *tries.* She goes on her exercise machine. We do our best to avoid sugar for her as much as possible, and *I* avoid too much sugar too, just to keep from developing problems further down the line. It's not hard to keep from living like a narcissistic hedonist, but people refuse to stop acting like not eating 5000 calories a day is literal violence. It's so anger inducing. It makes mom look bad, because people might associate her with these idiots when they see her out on the town.
unrelated but i love how you say "mom" instead of "my mom", made me smile and makes me feel like i know her too😭good on her for still trying her best despite the circumstance!! hope all is well for you and mom, she's incredibly lucky to have you!!
Yo that shit is real. I had an old work buddy who would eat nothing but fast food and drink soda and energy drinks, he never did a lick of exercise...I swear this dude weighed 150lbs soaking wet and had the best set of abs I've seen on a dude irl. Im fat. Been fat my entire life. I’ve been UNHAPPY my entire life. ANYONE that says they’re happy being morbidly obese is LYING….possibly to themselves also. I’ve FINALLY found a successful path to weight loss, am down 100lbs, and have never been happier. As a size 16 I still have work to do, and feel I will always be overweight, I will continue my efforts for my physical and mental wellbeing. I do not judge others for their weight and do NOT support bullying of any kind, but I also don’t think obesity should be glorified. This is just my humble opinion as a once morbidly obese person.
Obesity comes from food addiction. Addiction comes from mental health issues. It is definitely fixable, but it isn't always easy to overcome. If we could just start being honest about what it is and provide more help to those struggling with food addiction, this is what would help the most.
It's scary that people don't see the dependency that obese people have with food in general. People will speak up if that person was dependent on drugs, alcohol or tobacco for happiness, but people look the other cheek when it's food.
@@alicia4837 try to be nice if there would be a culture of heroin addicts saying to each other and to the whole world, that there is no problem with taking heroin. The problem is not their addiction, the problem is they telling that the addiction isnt a problem.
Im fatphobic because I used to weigh 236 lbs when I was in my late teens/early 20’s and I still remember all the problems I had physically and how constantly uncomfortable i was physically. Did I go too far at one point, lose too much weigh and once again have health problems and was physically very uncomfortable? Yes. But guess what? People were actually meaner to me about my size when I was underweight than when I was fat. Plus, this country doesn’t have an underweight health crisis. I never want to be fat ever again for the same reasons I never want to be underweight again, because it was physically horrible for me and also had major effects on my brain chemistry.
I think it's important to understand that being overweight is an addiction. Just like alcohol or gambling, addicts will say anything to confront their addiction and stay addicted. The saddest part is that food addictions are almost always passed onto children from their parents. This is how most Americans are now obese. Once people confront that most of Americans have a food addiction is when we can truly become a less heavy country.
Speaking from experience, I can tell you that you're 100% right. My mom and aunt were both 600lb and I ended up being 250lb way before I was in middle school. I didn't have a choice or a say as to what I was fed. I was just told to "shut up and eat it". If I ate too much, id be scolded, if I ate too little, I would be interrogated as to why I wasn't eating. It was a never ending cycle and, It messed up my relationship with food as a result. My mom and aunt would get so mad that I was fat, but they didn't look at the bigger picture at who's fault it actually was. I inherited their addiction that they refused to see themselves having. It was crazy being fat shamed by someone who was 3 times my size. They didn't want to acknowledge the fact that they had a problem and thus done nothing to resolve the issue. I was the only one that woke up and did something about it. As for my aunt, she passed away years ago and my mom can't walk without her knees giving out. Meanwhile I'm healthier than ever.
@@gothica3605 it’s sickening because it’s a lethal addiction that’s slowly kills people. On top of that most people don’t recognize that is truly is an addiction. It will destroy your life when your addicted.
It's also the only addiction you HAVE to still do. That's what makes it incredibly harder than all the others you can completely stop and still live. That's a huge factor that I think gets lost.
I'm watching this during my mandated at-home workout; may God have mercy on my soul if I ever begin to accept my fat instead of doing something about it!

Something that hasn't been brought up a lot is regional rates of obesity. In areas with low rates od obesity, "large bodied" is like... dad/bear/soft-bodied, which isn't ideal but also isn't very concerning, health-wise. But if you live somewhere with 400lb folks riding around WalMart on their scooters, when people say "there is nothing wrong with being large-bodied" _of course_ you're going to interpret that as being nuts."Large" is a different size, depending on where you are. Some people take the time actually define what they're talking about, where others assume a universal understanding. And I understand that appearance and actual health aren't as obviously tied together as they're assumed to be by some (e.g. chonky rugby players can be both chonky and also quite healthy and athletic, and some bone thin people genuinely don't have anything wrong with then and are just skinny). But if you're too fat to put your shoes on - or so fat you need to go up a shoe size - then I'm not going to entertain the notion that you're also healthy. Yes it's complicated, but there are limits.
Here's the thing I work at a pharmacy and a lot of Thyroid patients do have problems controlling weight that is actually a valid point. What isn't valid is ignoring the solution of talking to your doctor. If you have a thyroid condition and are legitimately doing everything you can and making a genuine effort to control your weight you most likely will. If you can't you need to speak to your Doctor because it's likely a reaction to your meds and things can be done about that.

I know there's plenty of diseases, conditions and medications that can make people gain some weight or have difficulty losing weight. But none of them, to my knowledge, make a person morbidly obese. And if there is, I would say it's extremely rare. There's definitely a difference to being somewhat overweight vs obese to the point you can't do normal things most people do.

That’s wrong. Research about Mauritanians for example. People in East Asia would consider you and the creator of this video fat. Does that make you fat? People forget the definition of being fat is subjective.
@@amiragordon5437 How does that make me wrong? Fat being subjective doesn't mean it isn't stigmatized almost universally.

There are weight and height restrictions on rides at carnivals for a reason too. These things are put in place for safety, not cuz they hate you.

Now it’s just about narcissism
nice job losing weight with all those things going against you!
Great job, I can't imagine how hard it must have been
Actually all the conditions you mentionned all connect to insulin résistance
Good luck in your struggle
@@diogenebladi4469 trauma and ED has nothing to do with insulin mate. Hashimoto’s is cortisol.
Alcoholism movement sounds like a meme I'd find on discord
not to mention body positivity was also for amputees and paraplegics who were struggling with body dysmorphia and/or feeling negatively about their bodies
I used to be a drug user. I finally quit, but then I started binge eating. Just because it's legal, doesn't mean it can't be a drug
There is gender acceptance movement...
Another person who doesn't understand the origins of "body positivity" and what it's about trying to hijack it, huh? NOPE.
Body positivity was actually started to stop people bullying those who have physical DEFORMITIES from birth defects or other medical conditions like psoriasis.

Nah bc watching these videos gets me motivated even when I don't wanna work out, like I don't wanna be that big 😭

Good luck on your journey! Losing weight a difficult process and it's great you're striving for better!
I like using smaller plates - it makes the meal look bigger.
IF helped a lot with me. I was a little overweight by 15lbs. It melted off me in 4-5 weeks. You can do it
That’s sad hopefully you find some confidence.
What body positivity and body acceptance should be:
Loving yourself at any size, having self-worth and respect and to not be berating and bullied at wherever you are on your body journey. It should also come with recognizing and being motivated to take care of it, to not be complacent with unhealthy choices and lifestyles.
What it is:
I'm fat, the world is fat phobic for not being designed around my health issues and men who aren't attracted to me are white racists.
The reason why most clothing companies don`t manufacture in super large
sizes is because they want to make a product that is going to work well for the majority of their consumer base and fit the average adult body!
Amir, its a little more complicated than just eating too much, but essentially yes people CAN change their body size through making different choices.
Exactly fast food has gotten so expensive these days it’s crazy
You’re very correct! Fast food is so expensive. Learning how to buy and cool groceries properly is a skill, but when you start to learn how to do it it ends up being way cheaper in the long run
saying healthy food is too expensive while complaining that designer clothes don’t come in their size lol. also, eating less costs less.
The bare minimum is to take an hour long walk a few times a week tbh
get a dog. walk dog. watch what you eat. easy breezy.
Portion control is unheard of in america and is a completely foreign concept.
People rely too much on exercice to lose weight. It is a healthy habit, sure, and you should totally do it, but watching your diet is what is gonna result in weightloss.
nah you're completely right. As they say, you can't outrun a bad diet. Exercise is important for other reasons but can't be relied on for weight loss.

Yeah, actually 😂
My dietian is so fatphobic. She told me to eat healthy food! What a shock!
They do not manage their finances well.
I wonder that too.
Comparing being starved in captivity to dieting is a bit... off.
Yeahhh it’s not the most helpful advice. Starving yourself is not a healthy way to lose weight.
Yes lol I thought that too
There’s an argument in the fat positive community that even if they reduce caloric intake, they still won’t lose weight because their bodies are “just made that way.” Their reference that no body is immune to starvation was a response to that point.
@@doid4354 so what is fasting ?

Her saying that, healthy food was expensive, was only an excuse for her to indulge in junk food.

You're doing great work, driving yourself crazy to help keep us all sane!
Fat acceptance: being skinny is fatphobic
Me: Literally can't get fat
Shame on you. And on me, too, since I can't get fat, either. Face it, we are just terrible people.
Yo that shit is real. I had an old work buddy who would eat nothing but fast food and drink soda and energy drinks, he never did a lick of exercise...I swear this dude weighed 150lbs soaking wet and had the best set of abs I've seen on a dude irl. His older brother had similar life-habits and I kid you not, this guy was planetary and angry about his bro not getting fat like him. Little bro got the good genes lol
@@SageTigerStarThat’s about the same thing I deal with. Im female, hardly exercise, eat fast food multiple times a week and Im on the brink of being UNDERweight. I dont know Im still in my early 20s though, our metabolism may slow down as we get older so Im not gonna have high expectations lol.

The way you look after each clip literally makes me laugh so loud, it scares my cat!!
People will speak up if that person was dependent on drugs, alcohol or tobacco for happiness, but people look the other cheek when it's food.
exactly this video feels so insensitive and unresearched

How much is that in kg??

Yes, it's the food. Yes, it's the lack of discipline. Yes, it is avoiding responsibility. People are going to say this and that - it doesn't matter. What matters is what you do and what example are you giving to younger generations.
Just the workout motivation I needed today!
Glad to see you back in action

This whole generation of could-be business owners and creators with vision and ability to identify an untapped market.. and all they can do is demand existing companies do it for them. GO MAKE IT YOURSELF AND IT WILL EXIST! If it’s so important and in demand go make it. You’ll get what you want, you’ll change the world, you’ll help your community, and you’ll get rich. When I see people, especially celebrities and people with money, complain about shit like that I just can’t help but wonder why they aren’t taking advantage of the situation.
The classist and time argument tells me exactly whose lazy/bullshitting and who actually has a problem losing weight I’ve literally saved money buying groceries instead of fast food and I work two jobs I have no days off I work 7 days a week and have been consistently for the last 8 months and I still make time to go to the gym for 1-2 hours 5 days a week
love your points amir!
I enjoy Amirs take on subjects that a lot of people choose not to talk about and how he encourages people to think for themselves but not wanting free healthcare???? listen i love being American but i have gotten the chance to travel to tons of countries and they all have free healthcare and guess what else? they’re not overrun by obese people like we are! i think its not JUST an individual issue (it definitely can be and this fat acceptance movement isn’t helping) but theres other reasons people are struggling health wise and free healthcare only helps us all. Watching this video i agree with most of his points but that take on healthcare should be a whole deep dive video cuz theres more too it
After the dude talking to himself in the blue shirt, Amir looked down in exasperation. I felt that lol
