seriously though these guys are out to be as obstructive as possible, it's hard to feel any sort of sympathy with their message. Even if climate change is something worth bringing attention to the method is just utterly idiotic, pestering members of the public won't make a difference to those flying around in private jets with multi million dollar industries at their fingertips.
Maybe just stop oil should have a word with the Chinese and Indians who are some of the biggest contributors to global warming? 🤔
If anything this group is enabling the government to push to outlaw the right to protest, which would be a horrible thing for democracy in the UK, imagine never being able to make your voice heard about *ANYTHING* because of these numpties and some unelected idiots in parliament (the Tories have been pushing for this for years)

And risk losing their jobs when this group bring a civil and/or criminal claim against them?
As an officer myself, this is the exact way we're told to do it, the most senior ranking officer present, in this case, a Sergeant issues a Section 12 Public Order Act warning, from which arrest can follow if they refuse to vacate the road. This proves to the court that the police gave them a reasonable opportunity to move and acted in a reasonable manner. Any counter claim being bought by these protestors would likely not even get to court, or be thrown out, when the court are shown footage of the officers using restraint and making a lawful request for them to move, and then using reasonable force to make an arrest when they refuse to do so.

Perhaps the country needs to draw a sharp distinction between disruptive protesters, who block public roads, and non disruptive protesters, who get arrested simply for holding placards on the pavement outside abortion centres but who don't obstruct anyone. If we fail to draw a distinction based on the behaviour of protesters then perhaps we are encouraging them to be as disruptive as possible.

It didn't take senior management to do anything except let them get on with it and support them in any way they can. The carbon reductions have been significant. This lot could be doing the same but lets leave it to the ones who are actually influencing their industry and backing words up with action.
