Remember we only saw Adventerurs guild in Sumeru. We never knew about the underground grandbazar, we never saw inside the academia or even anything on top of the city on the teaser.
I honestly don't think Fontaine would become a faliure at all, I bet it will bring a lot of players back into the game and experience a new story, the caption sure sounds clickbaited so, but I still think it's gonna go well

Not everyone is gonna grind for Artifacts, however for Star Rail what makes that game more usable is how it has Auto, which makes grinding much more easier in a way, Genshin is more like *cough* BOTW, which that game is fun, however for Genshin it's just the patches of constant filler events.

The only reason people still play genshin is because they already spent too much on the game and there's no good genshin alternatives, for now.
HSR (even with the Turn Based) already become alternatives for some, ZZZ is next. And if somehow Wuthering Waves becomes better storytelling wise, it will reduce the active player further.

I dont' expect a gritty steampunk town from bioshock. Genshin is their money maker, and they arent gonna take big gambles on design or story. No, theyll do that in their games that generally arent being played by kids. While I dont disagree about water levels generally, i actually dont hate Tower of Fantasys water level. Its really pretty and you can actually do combat that is somewhat influenced by being underwater

Fontaine is doomed from the start because it will take new players literally months to catch up to this new story arc.
I started an f2p account out of curiousity and i can confirm, you wont be leaving monstadt and liyue for a good while
That’s only partly true. Anyone who is even slightly good at the game can catch up in the story in 2-3 weeks playing at a casual pace. Granted I’m not new to the game, I created a new f2p acc where I haven’t wished a single time and made it through the inazuma story in less than a week. For anyone who has a reasonable grasp of combat mechanics and willingness to play through the story, it won’t take long to catch up.

How to level up Genshin?
* Introduce new weapons such as guns, gauntlets, or throwing knives.
* Add more mechanics that will make fights more interesting like Parrying, Side Jumps, Dash Attack, etc…
* Give more rewards to players. 60 Primogems a day is not enticing. Grinding 3 days for a single wish?
* Add more rewards for Top-ups. They just increased the price for Welkins and Genesis Crystals. Why not increase the rewards?
* Adjust the artifact RNG. Imagine farming and wasting resin for 3-5 months getting trash artifacts.
* Avoid making character weapon limited to time-locked events. Dodoco Tales and Cinnabar really?
* Fix characters that have been powercrept. Improve their talents and constellations. Many characters deserve improvement not just Zhongli. This is not Zhongli impact.
* Remove Teapot load limit.
* Make Coop and Multiplayer more interesting. Add PvP but F2P friendly or increase the maximum players in a single world.
* Improve NPCs. Add new models. Make their movements and behaviour more interesting. (For example NPCs from Inazuma will Greet you if you’re using Raiden Shogun, Yae Miko, Kujou Sara, Kokomi, etc…)
* Make dialogues and talks more dynamic and cinematic looking. Dialogues in genshin are too bland and boring thats why many people skip them.
* Make weapon banner less predatory. Those accumulated fate points should be retained.
* Give new players a huge boost. How about a free 5 star standard character or a guaranteed 50/50 from the start?
* Add more ingame stores or market where you can buy, sell, and trade foods and materials that you farm.
Weapons never should've been part of the equation for a game like Genshin. All characters should just have their one signature weapon.
Itto's weapon should've just been the club, Childe's should've just been his Hydro constructs, Shinobu's should've just been the chain whip, the list goes on.
That way there'd be no need to have more weapon types as every character's is inherent and unique to themselves.
Teapot load limit is seriously dumb, I agree. It seriously hampers the creativity that you can put into furnishing it.
I'd settle for playable characters appearing in the overworld occasionally in random places like we see in certain events, but all the time.
Co-op is honestly a hinderance as it stands, so many things are turned off when someone joins your world.
Genshin whiteknights are gonna come in here saying, "If you don't like the game, then quit." Like, bruh, the people who point out issues and ask for improvements like the game.

As an avid gamer, Genshin is not going to die, but Star Rail is debatable. The thing with Genshin is that there is no current equivalent to its game whereas a turn-based JRPG-like game like Star Rail is competing with other games like Final Fantasy, the Tales series, Persona, Xenoblade, etc. The closest equivalent we have to Genshin is Zelda BoTW and ToTK, but that's just 1 game series and we already seen how the sales of Genshin blew the Zelda series out of the water. Star Rail has an anime aesthestic, good cinematics, graphics, and story, but you can say the same for some of its equivalents I listed too. The thing with Star Rail is that it's a free-to-play cross-platform game, which makes it very accessible, but going at the pace it's going is going to be hard to keep people entertained for long in the series - this is already a problem being addressed in their official Reddit with over 1,000+ comments.
Secondly, gender demographic statistics are out for both games via gameage.jp. Star Rail is sitting at ~20% female and ~80% male playerbase, whereas Genshin is at 44% female, the rest males. If you polarize your game to one demographic, you lose a lot of revenue by ignoring literally half the population that are girls on the planet. That's why coomer gachas like NIKKE can never top Star Rail because Star Rail is more friendly in inclusivity, but Genshin is more so with this. This is not an opinion, but actual facts as someone interested in making their own gacha game things like this matters in research.
Immortals: Fenyx Rising is also like that. Additionally - modern Assassin's Creed games have a lot of similarities.
How can you even compare the sales of a gacha game to a single player experience where you buy it and get the complete package? Companies would kill to get the sales Zelda gets.
Comparing gacha games with games you play once and then stop it forever/ a long time isn't a good way of seeing the problem.
hsr won't die for a time and the demographic thing is bullshit it doesn't matter if it works it works, we can always take an example like you did.
The vast majority of cs go playerbase is male and valve makes millions each year with this game even though they are competing with valorant (wich has a much much MUCH higher female player base) . You see your arguments doesn't make any sense, HSR doesn't have real ( I am gonna go on that point later ) competion just like genshin doesn't have any as well.
If I took cs go as my example it was to show you a real competion between games that have the same game modes and goals and the same tactic to make money and interests in players, whereas in gacha games Hoyoverse make games that are unique. Genshin has a Zelda vibe but Zelda isnt a F2P cross platform game to begin with so there isnt any competion between the two, and we could also talk about others aspects such as elemental reactions and all of that stuff.
For HSR if we really wanted to look at competion we need to look at other gacha turn based games, there are a lot of them and it started decades ago, but those games are old news they are outdated they have little complexity in their core gameplay they are most of the times based on a manga/anime so they can't be 100% original. They also are available only on mobile so the gameplay is limited to mobile usage.
The problem with HSR is the same as some others turn based gacha, it becomes stale for some people and without an open world like genshin the feeling of "I have done everything right now" is growing faster and faster, it doesn't have anything to do with gender at all. They limited themselves by having a turn based game, but it doesn't mean they can't improve and innovate its a good thing they didnt make a genshin v2, the player base that will stay even with dry content will keep the game alive just like they did with Honkai Impact 3rd.
Also another thing, gacha games were mostly dominated by male audience you can easily check that information with how many of the top grossings mobile gacha games feature swimsuit and fan service female characters on a yearly basis to please the fandom of these games.
Genshin or HSR didn't target audience, both games have incredible designs and story for both genders even Honkai Star Rail right now with only 2 updates on their belt has many male lead that have connected with the playerbase. I don't know what they could do better to be honest ? They are very inclusive (for a chinese corp) they put good looking females and males all year long and if the stat you provided is real, then it's something else. Hoyoverse are clever, they target everyone otherwise they would have kept making niche games like they did with the first Honkai games.
People have been saying Genshin will die in X years but still is going strong with millions on dry updates, I am an avid gacha games player and I can guarantee Hyoverse's games will last a long time and Genshin will last the longer based on how much it generates each year.
I might not roll on the weapon banner often, usually only until I get the first weapon on a banner that has both weapons I want, but still, on behalf of everyone that will ever wish on it, I want to thank you for what you've done for the Genshin community regarding the weapon banner and for making Hoyo implement the Epitomised Path c:

Fontaine will do what Sumeru and Inazuma did before it, which is revitalize the game for a while, until the main stuff dies down and the hype slows down yet again.

As someone who plays games like Genshin, HSR and Destiny 2, (especially how D2's current season, season of the deep is underwater) I will say that besides water mechanics being aesthetically cool, it's also there to slow down gameplay and is quite annoying if not implemented in the right way.
people in chat saying blitzball from ffx is a good "water level", bruh its a minigame and honestly one of the most boring and braindead experiences in ff history, and ff has some pretty shitty experiences when it comes to optional content, im completely convinced twitch consumers are all psychopaths or bots at this point, theyre all insane

I've been excited for exploring Fontaine and getting its characters since I first heard about Fontaine, more than anything else in this game.
being a Genshin fan and seeing people make derogatory jokes about the game kinda upsets me, cuz I think about all the other gachas out there, and genshin is easily still one of the best ones by a long way so seeing it get unnecessary amounts of outside hate has always confused me
but then I remember the Genshin *COMMUNITY* and realize their derogatory jokes are valid and hilarious

Underwater areas are frustrating because they _slow down_ movement and typically limit actions that can be executed. When I saw the swimming teaser I was oh no please constrain this to only isolated pools of water and _not an entire lake_ .
I mean the way I see it it doesn't limit ... It adds new depth to movement (pun intended xD)

Honestly I think the genshin community is actually upset at Hoyoverse BUT rather than take it out on the source they target Tectone and people like him who pretty much say what everyone is feeling because he doesn’t allow them to exist in peaceful ignorance. I decided to take a break from Genshin back before Inazuma dropped, and I came back every few weeks when I got the itch to play. I thought the FOMO would get to me, but it's been a HUGE mood boost to simply not give a fuk...Only recently did I come back to finally finish the Inazuma Archon Quest and, coincidentally, pick up the last few constellations for Eula.
I like Genshin, might even say I love it, but damn can it be rough sometimes. 😂😂😂

Honestly fontaine looks dull, its city looks more like a pokemon city more than france inspired.
After Geo became shit, I stopped playing. I hated the idea that they don't want to release a character that was OP, but after dendro came any characters with dendro was strong AF and mihoyo didn't do anything about it. Didn't even buff geo so I just stopped playing.

it was leaked that there are 2 new mechanics that fontaine character abilites will apply and have to be used to fight certain enemies or use in the environment which seems stupid to me
We don't know yet how impactfull they're gonna be outside of Spiral Abyss and 99% of Genshin's content is outside of Spiral Abyss. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be absolute ass in Abyss but there's a good chance it won't matter at all in the open world and domains.

@@raiden8063 i don't want them to shoehorn in pointless mechanics in order to make fontaine characters relevant instead of just making the characters good. Forcing you to use a specific character to beat a mob is not "improving combat" it's literally limiting it instead. Though these effects might actually give you a good buff when activated we will have to see on release.
@@Fr00stee There are also leaks that you can use those mechanics without the characters as well. So you don't need Fontaine characters for that.

Paimon in early Monstadt was good but she gradually got worse and worse, more annoying and more as time went on. I miss old Paimon but now I hate her so much I don't want them to even change her back to old Paimon because I just hate the sight her now. Remove her.
This is actually what I expected. I remember when I had a group of friends that still played Genshin that we were talking about what the other cities would be based off of after we heard Sumaru was going to be based off India architecture, and I said this was probably going to be like Venice + French, because hydro. So for it to be dead on, i'm pleasantly surprised.

@@ArchAngelKnights Brother we guessed it after the Xavier quest in Inazuma. He literally talks about the waterways in Fontaine during the purification process. Wasn't a huge leap to tie that to Venice, which is famous for its boat waterway traffic.

I love genshin, but I agree with most of the criticism. I also wish atleast in the dead patches they added a permanent gm to keep high AR busy. I really finish content in 30 mins daily & walk around.
High AR is a nightmare tbh. I want to play but theres just nothing, i cant be bothered looking around for chests anymore as its so unrewarding for the effort put in with the puzzles and multilayered huge zones nowadays

As a Water Engineer, I can say with certainty I don’t give a flying F about how the logistics in Genshin Impact since you can walk underwater.

I think Kingdom Hearts 3 did underwater gameplay pretty well; the combat system remained largely the same being able to do a unique basic attack string and can do different underwater magic spells. It also gives a very good movement system that doesn’t feel like dookie

I liked the way Monster hunter tri tried to make underwater combat work. It looked weird swinging your blades and shooting in water but the monster attacks underwater were pretty cool.
Same I loved MHTri underwater imo it was misunderstood by people that uses the same armor for all the game but the game was literally trying to make you equip a swimming set and it's night and day the combat becomes so much more fluid, or you could use a Lance and parry all day that works too

I think the reason for no trains or cars is that Fontaine has such mountainous terrain. So it actually does make sense for traveling in and out

What turned me away from the game after like 2000 hours is Sumeru. I cant stand the desert. Its so badly designed for exploration. The underground areas are so fucking difficult to navigate. Either have a seperate map for underground areas or get them out of the game. And this bad design in recent compared to the other regions (which I like a lot) makes me scared for a damn water level.
Summary of your comment: you have skill issues. Other people had Sumeru at 100% exploration and you don't because, again, skill issue.
Quit the game whenever you want. You're not a loss.

Natlan is the one I am looking forward the most, I hated that Fontaine was coming before it because I was just not interested in it. Arlecchino is exciting tho so imma stay for her. And some of the leaked incoming characters
Man people just can’t accept the fact that the reason the game is big and successful is because it DOESN’T have hours and hours and endless content and raid bosses and infinite rogue dungeons and the like. How are the games with those comparing to Genshin? Oh, they’re all way behind and way less profitable? Almost like Hoyo knows better than the endless whiners on UA-cam.
Exploration enthusiasts, lore masters/enjoyers, and character collectors will probably make the bulk of those returning when 4.0 goes live.
Considering the general downward/stagnating trend ( according to Google Trends since January 2022; Statista’s Twitch Average Viewers since December 2022; and the amount of players logged daily/monthly by ActivePlayer since January 2023 and March 2022 respectively ), although it will certainly increase “traffic” in the game, the traffic will probably not match previous peaks.
Especially with many legacy content creators gone, burnout, more games being out there, and the increasingly higher storage capacity required for mobile players.
I’ll give it a week before the initial fervor of novelty/curiosity dies down.

The watertemple in OoT sucked not because of the water itself. It was because of the horrible inventory system. You had to go to the inventory and switch the ironboots on and off so fucking often that it was infuriating.
3ds made that alot easier by just letting you equip both and pressing a button for each

I heard there is a separate stamina system but there is no air management
@@Ruler-ok2cp Honestly the fact theres still a stamina bar with underwater exploration makes me certain this gameplay will suck the most of any water level in history, genshin land exploration is already painful with the 2 seconds of sprinting you can do every other minute.

You can stay under water as long as you want. If you deplete your whole stamina bar you just let it recharge while swimming at normal speed.
It’s literally just land exploration but with more manageable height exploration

Fontaine will not be a failure, in fact no region so far could be called a failure
sumeru was absolutely a failure. half of it was sand when its supposed to be green forests. It was a drag and had the most useless side stories
I think video idea was more about how Fontaine won't be as cool as expected, therefore it can be called "failure" of sorts.
The only failure thus far are Inazuma main quest (it's quite a snooze) and Dehya
