According to "the hardcore metal fans", Metallica sold out when: they recorded a ballad (Fade to Black) in 1984, when they signed out with a major (MOP, 1986), when they released a video (One, 1988), when they slowed down (black album, 1991), when they cut their hair and were more influenced by blues and hard rock (Load/Reload, 96/96), when they made an album without solos (St. Anger, 2003), when they came back to the thrashier heavier sound (Death Magnetic, 2009)… So yeah. Fuck whatever the people say.

I'm not into the " Cliff was better than.." "Jason was better than...' "Rob is better than..." Cliff Burton was unique in his own style and left an indelible mark on Metallica, on an entire genre and on people, back then and forever. And for that, he deserves to be remembered when the time is come.
He gave them their style, brought so much to the band, compare Kill 'em all to the next two so much different when he joined and was involved in writing music.
The unique thing about Cliff wasn't just his ability as a musician, but also his knowledge of music,James and Kirk learned alot from him about timing and harmony.
Even tho I wasn't born in the same era he was in, I fucking miss the man I cry everytime I hear Orion. Imagine all the other masterpiece he could've created R.I.P Cliff Burton🕊
I was at the Edmonton show just last week ... Orion on Night-1 and The Call of Ktulu on Night-2 .. During both when James looked at the sky and paid his tribute and respect to Cliff along with 120,000 people on both nights, you could feel the love for Cliff throughout the stadium ! Wherever you are Cliff, love and respect ! Thank you for your awesome music. Taken too early !!!
I was Lucky enough to see Cliff play in New Orleans in 1986. Mom and dad finally let me go see Ozzy in concert and Metallica was opening. Never heard of them, but it changed everything.
When I talk to people. They don't understand. Cliff was the Maestro. In interviews , Kirk explains how Cliff put the pieces together. James would be working on something for hours . When they went to Cliff he would fix it in minutes. I wish I could have met him. My first memories of metallica started when I was 7. Seeing the "One" video. By that time Cliff had already passed. In some way , I kinda feel like the reason "One" stood out to me. Made a great impact on me. Made me want to go back in the catalog to discover Cliff. What an amazing artist.
People can say whatever they want about Metallica, but they’ve never, ever forgotten Cliff. And they continue to put videos like this out (as well as the incredible live videos) for all us fans. They always try to do right by us 🤘🏻
Pratchett had an interesting take on this, basically it's that every man dies twice. First when his body goes but also again when his name is uttered for the last time. GNU Terry Pratchett GNU Cliff Burton
I’m only 14 so I was never close to seeing him, but as of a few days ago in Seattle Ive seen y’all play 5 times. Those are all experiences I will never forget.
I remember first listening to it in September 2009 at age 18. I'm a late bloomer in this context, but I love how Mr. Burton's fingers have produced rhythmic and appealing sound. Sad that he died in the September 27, 1986 accident. I survived the May 7, 2010 bike accident. Lost the guitar playing ability due to neural damage. Still, I hope to play guitar like I used to do.
I am very impressed with Cliff Burton's bass-playing skills. He was able to create the best instrumental pieces for Metallica in their early days with his unique style of playing and I can listen to it all day long. He is truly a master of the bass for Metallica. R.I.P Cliff Burton 🕊

Rest In Peace to one of the greatest figures in metal to ever walk the earth. Keep shaking the skies Cliff, I hope you're still playing wherever you went. 🤘🤘
The way this man has been my fav bassist for awhile now. I admire him so much and he's the reason I play bass myself now. I wish I would get the chance to shake his hand and just thank him for what he means to me as a 15 year old fan.

No one has or will ever come close to the original sounds and creativity that Cliff Burton could produce with a bass guitar. He was a virtuoso in every sense of the word. R.I.P Cliff Burton 🙏
As a fan since 1983, the passing of Cliff hit me pretty hard. I was 18 and deep into the metal scene when I discovered Metallica on a Megaforce Records compilation tape. I was hooked ever since. Even though he left us way too early, I am SO glad he was here, and glad he, and the others, kept me on the metal path even to this day. I took my 17 year old son to see Metallica in Foxboro, MA last month. He knows the impact Cliff had on the band, and metal in general. I am honored to keep his memory alive in my son, and hoping he can pass that to his future kids. LONG LIVE CLIFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! R.I.P.

Your work will never be forgotten. Every this man made was beautiful. Rest in Power, Cliff Burton 🕊️🎸 Thank you.
Cliff was great at making music, very creative, really talented. Will be remembered forever! ❤ The fact is that nobody could fill his shoes. Jason was great for the group, but in a different way.
Cliff is a catalyst for music. Not just metal. Think about the ripple effect this man caused simply by picking up a bass for the first time. Taken too soon but will live forever. Cliff 'em all!
I remember when I first realized that this was a bass - I did not know such sounds could be produced with a bass guitar and was blown away. I imagine many had a similar experience with Pulling Teeth!
