The problem I have with her is not the fact that she was tacked onto golden, but HOW she was tacked onto golden. I'm all for new content, but they really only added a social link and suddenly made her a huge part of the story where she was otherwise absent. I'm not saying that they had to add her to every Investigation Team meeting, but for her only interaction with the cast to be in her own link even though they added a load of new scenes that she could have been a part of feels incredibly lazy. Take a look at P4GA, in that they added her to ALL of the events. This makes it a lot more believable that she was a real part of the group instead of just an expansion pack. Alternatively, they could have done what they did with Elizabeth in P3 FES, where the MC's only interactions with her are sort of in secret, tie it into the mystery of the velvet room or something. Instead, they went with this weird, somewhere in the middle zone where it seems like she's part of the group, but nobody invites her when they go out. Atlus should have decided early on just how involved she was going to be with the story and the OG main cast. In the original game, every character had their shadow confrontation and social link before you could face Adachi and save the world, with Marie it felt like "well they saved the world and- SHIT WE FORGOT ABOUT MARIE! QUICK, put in that dungeon we made so she can face herself after the plot is pretty much wrapped up and she can have her resolution during the completely optional true ending. I don't hate her as a character, and I'm happy to see more people added to the ever growing Ultimax roster, but Marie's inclusion to golden was handled poorly and it definitely hurt her in the long run.

Have you not played P4A? Everyone has a funny subtitle (Yu is the "sister complex kingpin of steel") and Maries is "虚ろの森のツンデレポエマー" means something like "tsundere poet of the empty (hollow?) forest.
I get the feeling that people are upset over Marie (and possibly Margaret if she winds up in?) being in the game might just be upset that it's not Makoto Yuki from P3. Though, even IF he were to be playable, it's one of those things I'm not sure they'd announce and that you'd probably have to unlock by beating Story Mode or something anyway.

What rest of the P3 cast? They got everyone who isn't dead or non-existent from that game. Heck they included a dog that by this time clearly shouldn't be alive or in a condition to be fighting.
Margaret is also going to be playable but yeah... there's nobody else in Persona 3 (or 4 either now I guess) that could be in the game because Ultimax is canon and Shinji's dead (sadly) and Fem MC isn't real. They can start bringing in the Persona 1 and 2 characters they hinted at in Arena 1 though. edit: Wait. I guess they could force in Fuuka since they forced in Rise to be playable even though neither of them fight.
That's a good point on Fuuka. She's about the only P3 character I think they could legitimately put in there. Although I could understand Rise getting a combat mode with the whole getting captured and being a burden in the first Arena game. Seeing Mitsuru may have also allowed her to consider that a possibility. Fuuka I feel probably is more settled into her support position and is happy to assist from a distance. Drive is certainly a key in persona changing. And yeah it's all because the creators want Rise fighting, but I can rationalize it.
If Koro would have been separate from Ken, I probably would have mained Koro, but since he's an assist character... I dunno. I mean they could get weird and decide the Fox got a Persona... haha.

Margaret hasn't been confirmed to be playable just yet (she's only on the artwork given to P4AU tour visitors), they've been hinting at dimension-warping shenanigans that could possibly bring in FeMC, Persona 1 characters probably never got their Personas due to the game taking place on the Other Side, Innocent Sin's Persona users definitely don't have their Personas because IS took place on the Other Side, EP's Persona users probably don't want to deal with the potential of Nyarly showing up again based off of what happened last time around, and Fuuka is unable to fight, as she frequently becomes sick. Rise, though her Persona is normally unsuited to actual combat, is capable of fighting without getting sick,, so it makes sense that she joins the fight in Ultimax.
FES was more on the sequel side, since it has a story after the main story, but came with the main story with added features. And Golden is an enhanced version. I'm fine with them adding character to it, but what bothers me is that people (me included) that played the PS2 version and not Golden are going to have no idea who she is. Granted, I looked at a wikia about her before hand, but not everyone wants to do that, to prevent spoiling P4. I'm just saying I'd rather it kept to where people that played the original and people that played Golden are able to follow the story. If she's just DLC in not in the story at all, it'd be fine, so there isn't as much confusion.
TheBlackBloodNinja Yeah, she is DLC. (that still sucks, because my wallet is going to start crying). But really the story from P4 to P4G is mostly the same. P4G just gives more info on the final boss and other minor things (like beach events, and sky trips, etc) so I think Marie is not that confusing even if you only played the PS2 version. And just a small tip... You should play P4G, it is a fantastic game. I was a bit unsure if getting a Vita just for that game was worth it and it totally was, even after playing P4 on my PS2.
I would get it, but it's the only thing in the Vita's library (well exclusive-ish anyway) that really sticks out to me, and simply don't want to buy for just one game.

No, but it may seem that way sometimes. I wouldn't have minded a DLC or reference to her in the first Arena game, but this definitely makes up for that. Seems like a move that just made sense since even Golden made some note that her persona if she used one would have been Kaguya.

ラスボスはヒノカグツチと言う神で翔は駒の一つです、又日本神話ではイザナミはヒノカグツチを産んだ際に焼け死んだので因縁はあるはずだから、共闘するでしょうね（そもそも４で暗躍したのは、人間を見極めると言う目的なので、ヒノカグツチの破壊思想は受け入れ難いでしょう）

I agree with you, Vitliy, I mean, I don't hate Marie, but I think it would be better to add Maya from Persona 2 than Marie, specially because I think it was so unfair Persona 4 the Golden were never released for ps2 or ps3, and I'm not going to buy PSvita only for playing this game, I hate handheld consoles.

So....this is the character atlus thought everyone was asking for. Yeah hate to break it but I think everyone is waiting for the rest P3 cast. Not that the Marie dlc was bad of course
What rest of the P3 cast? They got everyone who isn't dead or non-existent from that game. Heck they included a dog that by this time clearly shouldn't be alive or in a condition to be fighting.
Margaret is also going to be playable but yeah... there's nobody else in Persona 3 (or 4 either now I guess) that could be in the game because Ultimax is canon and Shinji's dead (sadly) and Fem MC isn't real. They can start bringing in the Persona 1 and 2 characters they hinted at in Arena 1 though. edit: Wait. I guess they could force in Fuuka since they forced in Rise to be playable even though neither of them fight.
That's a good point on Fuuka. She's about the only P3 character I think they could legitimately put in there.
Although I could understand Rise getting a combat mode with the whole getting captured and being a burden in the first Arena game. Seeing Mitsuru may have also allowed her to consider that a possibility.
Fuuka I feel probably is more settled into her support position and is happy to assist from a distance. Drive is certainly a key in persona changing.
And yeah it's all because the creators want Rise fighting, but I can rationalize it.
If Koro would have been separate from Ken, I probably would have mained Koro, but since he's an assist character... I dunno. I mean they could get weird and decide the Fox got a Persona... haha.

Margaret hasn't been confirmed to be playable just yet (she's only on the artwork given to P4AU tour visitors), they've been hinting at dimension-warping shenanigans that could possibly bring in FeMC, Persona 1 characters probably never got their Personas due to the game taking place on the Other Side, Innocent Sin's Persona users definitely don't have their Personas because IS took place on the Other Side, EP's Persona users probably don't want to deal with the potential of Nyarly showing up again based off of what happened last time around, and Fuuka is unable to fight, as she frequently becomes sick. Rise, though her Persona is normally unsuited to actual combat, is capable of fighting without getting sick,, so it makes sense that she joins the fight in Ultimax.

FES was more on the sequel side, since it has a story after the main story, but came with the main story with added features. And Golden is an enhanced version. I'm fine with them adding character to it, but what bothers me is that people (me included) that played the PS2 version and not Golden are going to have no idea who she is. Granted, I looked at a wikia about her before hand, but not everyone wants to do that, to prevent spoiling P4. I'm just saying I'd rather it kept to where people that played the original and people that played Golden are able to follow the story. If she's just DLC in not in the story at all, it'd be fine, so there isn't as much confusion.

But really the story from P4 to P4G is mostly the same.
P4G just gives more info on the final boss and other minor things (like beach events, and sky trips, etc) so I think Marie is not that confusing even if you only played the PS2 version.
And just a small tip...
You should play P4G, it is a fantastic game.
I was a bit unsure if getting a Vita just for that game was worth it and it totally was, even after playing P4 on my PS2.
I would get it, but it's the only thing in the Vita's library (well exclusive-ish anyway) that really sticks out to me, and simply don't want to buy for just one game.

No, but it may seem that way sometimes.
I wouldn't have minded a DLC or reference to her in the first Arena game, but this definitely makes up for that. Seems like a move that just made sense since even Golden made some note that her persona if she used one would have been Kaguya.
I'm happy she's in it, although her Insta-kill is really boring sadly. :(
