    Needs some tweaking, but its a good start. A beater blade would help.

    Looks like a very powerful mixer, but i realize (like the Bosch) it really performs best with large batches. If you are attempting to bake a dozen cookies or do a small birthday cake for your kid, you will spend a lot of time scrapping the bowl due to the serving to capacity ratio of the mixer. Another good review Amy and Eric. Your reviews are always amazing and very informative. 😃🥳🎉🏆💯

      At that price tag it should come with 2 spare scraper paddles and a second bowl 🤣

    I am on the creaming of sugars and butter portion of the video. It seems the force it causing the sigars and butter to be flung off of the paddle and then bind to the sides of the bowl. Even at low speed number, that thing goes. Looks to bind up higher and more of the mixture than my KA mixers when I don't use the beater blade.

    Hi Amy
    I watched your GE Profile mixer it looks very impressive
    I like that it doesn’t move around your counter like some other mixers
    For gluten development it won’t work as well as Ankarsum or Bosh mixer those are bread mixers for larger quantities
    I would like to see you do comparison between GE and Wolf mixer
    Thank you so much
    Have a great week

    I am with you on that one. If you are paying that much for a mixer. It needs to do the job better when making bread.

    Looking at it from the nack, ith the head designed as it is reminds me of the old singer sewing machine from the 50's or 60's😊❤

    Hi Amy and Eric, I am late to this mixer review. Great review Amy. I see the main problem with this mixer is the beater attachment hub, being a quick connect fitting it is somewhat loose like on any tool with this feature, so the paddle must be made a little small with more bowl clearance so it does not hit the bowl. The whisk or whip is a thing of beauty and did a quick job with the heavy cream.
    I think some of the noise is from the quick connect parts rattling as they move around and tighten and loosen depending on the load as the tool goes through the rotation points and pushing matter into the sides of the bowl.

    Give your favorite mixers a real test and make whole wheat bread dough. I have an old Bosch and it does a great job on whole wheat dough. I don't make white bread. Some of my breads have bread flour and white whole wheat flour.

    There is a metallic noise to this machine that is driving me crazy. I thought it was the paddle banging against the bowl but the noise happened even with the dough hook. This is a failed attempt by GE but they should keep trying. I think they should go with a bowl that rotates and the attachments just spin. Those make less noise and mix better. It also differentiates them from most mixers on the market.

    • @EricLearnstoCook
      @EricLearnstoCook Місяць тому

      All mixers make some sort of noise, some very irritating. This thing is plain loud. So keep that in mind. No different than using a blender. I wish it behaved better making cookie dough and bread dough. But we'll see if the smart features add any value.

    For a mixer that price I would expect it to perform better than my Pro 600. Although the Pro 600 is noisy, I think the noise of this GE would drive me crazy after a bit. It sounds like the gears don't mesh up together well. Unlike the Pro 600, it does appear to have plenty of power when kneading the bread but the end result wasn't great. With some refinements from GE, I think it has potential to be a good mixer though. For now, I'll stick with my Pro 600

    The machine was only 1000 if you wanted to be the first to own. It is now under 800 regular price. You found it on sale for 499 a great deal.
    On creaming try lowering your speed. It is a powerful motor and will plaster to the wall. It operates differently than other high end machines. You have to adjust as you learn. You will see the difference when you use auto and guided , they teach a lot.
    The top speed is close to a blender and GE should warn people to use the cover (maybe they do).
    Overall if you bought this mixer just to be a standard mixer then you should send it back. This one is interactive and offers an entirely different experience than anything on the market.

    • @EricLearnstoCook
      @EricLearnstoCook Місяць тому

      You're right that you would never want to buy this strictly to use as a 'normal' mixer. The smart features should be interesting to see.

  • @russ5024

    I like the fast whipping time (use the pouring shield!), don't like the frequent need to scrape the bowl to have the contents throughly mixed, King Arthur flour is selling this mixer or a similar one at a much reduced price. GE is offering a similar model with fewer "smart" features. I like the built in scale. I wonder how many the smart recipes have come out since this mixer has been introduced? "Mixing re-imagined?? GE your reputation is on the line and the people in new product development are falling short at winning the experienced home bakers over.

    Oh my God, they’ve gone off script! Alert the media. I do think this mixer is fascinating and King Arthur flower has it on sale right now for $499 but if I’m completely honest, I really don’t like the sound or the electronics.

    NO THANK YOU!!! I will stay with my KA Pro 7qrt with DC motor and scraper paddle! The best to me! It’s AWESOME! GE: way too much scrapping; the dough just traveling around the bowl bound to the paddle; poor gluten development. They need to rethink this design. One day, but not today! Thanks for the review.

    • @EricLearnstoCook
      @EricLearnstoCook Місяць тому

      KA Pro 7 quart is probably the best one out there for KA. Well, now we know how this beast compares to the other mixers doing a normal/standard test. Bring on the smart features!!! I know there's a reason we bought this, right?

  • @LilybethII
    @LilybethII Місяць тому +2

    I will never understand why manufacturers don't provide scraper paddles with the newer mixers. In my opinion, a scraper paddle should become a standard accessory that comes in the box with stand mixers, but they want us to buy it as an extra accessory. These mixers are very expensive and there's no logical explanation other than greed for this issue.

    • @EricLearnstoCook
      @EricLearnstoCook Місяць тому +1

      Even if we had to pay for a scraper paddle, it would still be welcome. Well, it will be interesting to see if the sale price becomes the new selling point since $1000 (original price) is too much for a mixer that just did what it did.

    • @LilybethII

      @@EricLearnstoCook My stand mixer was around $300 when I got it 8 years ago and it came with a scraper paddle and a second bowl 🤣

    For something that expensive it seems to offer really mediocre performance. I don't know if it was the recording, but it seemed awfully loud, almost as if the paddles were hitting the bowl.

    Why test a "smart appliance" and not show us the "smart features"? If you aren't interested in smart features, then don't test them - there is no reason to buy a "smart appliance" if there is no use of the smart features.

      @AmyLearnsToCook Love your videos! You did a 9 batch bread dough run in your Bosch a little while back and it successfully did it. Would you create a "stress" test for the bigger and stronger mixers so we can see how it reacts under heavier loads? Like a 5 or 7 batch dough? A quantity they'd all be able to hold but would bog down most?
