Jeez, those of us who went to Pitt in the mid 70s - Pitt Stadium was about filled every Saturday - walk from campus or off-campus up cardiac hill to Pitt Stadium. I remember the 1975 game when Dorsett ran all over Notre Dame. So many Notre Dame fans in Pittsburgh. It was bedlam. In a game vs WVU, Dorsett ran out of the tunnel and over to the WVU bench. He stood in front of the WVU team and raised his index finger as if to say, we're number one and you can't catch me. Then he nearly single-handedly shredded their defense.
I get that Pitt has state-of-the-art facilities, Pitt Stadium was built in the 1920s, and that sometimes some of the Steelers coaches watch a practice or two. But you are missing out on that on-campus Fall experience. In my opinion, the AD director and the chancellor need to build an on-campus Pitt Stadium II, or whatever they want to call it. Recruiting would be easier and so would ticket sales. It just breaks my heart to watch games on TV with half-empty or a nearly empty stadium
