All I want is Squad Vietnam, a Splinter Cell game that was as good as Chaos Theory, and a true BFBC2 remaster - or a BF2 Modern Combat reboot on PC. It's cool that games are getting more and more realistic, I just miss when AAA devs had life behind their eyes
Vietnam related, I really fully enjoy 'Medal of Honor, Rising Storm 2, Vietnam' I find the lack of hud, sometimes teamwork, and especially the terrifying sound design keeps bringing me back.
Operation harsh doorstop looks like it might be a classic BF2 style game
A SQUAD meets DCS World would be the ultimate epic milsim. Maybe one day....

I recently just got squad. I play a lot with my brother and made new friends in the Australian Squad community.
I was introduced to this amazing game genre from first insurgency, now squad, because of you!

This x100. For Ukrainians, it's a tragedy, for the rest of the world, it's spectacle. We as humans have the draw to things that kill us. And the horrifying thrill of combat is something that few truly get to experience.
Games like Tarkov and Squad do a decent job of attempting to simulate what tiny pieces of metal flying at your face is like. And I think that's a good thing! Like I've said in the past, I'm vehemently anti-war. But I fucking love FPS games because there's no consequence to your actions in games. There's real life consequences if you shoot a real person.

@@justdakotamusic I don't think it;s just spectacle but also frustration. Military sims and strategy games (e.g. Wargame RD) provide a power fantasy where you have agency, as opposed to real world news, where that agency is very limited to most of us.

It started before that.
Bmp1 is extremely rewarding. It's a ambush predator and once you learn the good spots to park it the thing is a beast. Park it at gas station at al Basrah, put some barrels in front of it and keep it on a repair station, and you can control the middle points very easily. You can see everything to the airfield and the tows don't cost a lot to rearm.

I don't understand why people have such a hard time accepting that.
I think part of the reason "MILSIM" is blowing up is because of channels like yours and Karma, GrowlingSidewinder, DDG, and other gamers branching out into the genre like Tomographic and JackFrags. You guys produce such entertaining content, and there's a wide variety of games within the genre itself that keeps it fresh. With the lacklustre releases of 2042 and Vanguard and people tiring of Warzone hackers, there's a massive amount of gamers searching for new FPS titles, and content creators as well. Those guys, like the ones listed above, that have tried these games and produced content about them have brought an entire new audience, that have looked for more content like it and found channels like this one already established in the tactical scene. I think the release of IS on console is also big

Another point is the games themselves provide good content. Milsim games by definition are about action, explosions, teamwork/coordination, etc. All of these games (Squad, Tarkov, Arma 3, DCS World, etc, etc) are just pure fun to play. The game designs are all wonderful which means it's hard to make boring content to begin with. Then you add the content creation talent of youtubers (such as the ones you mention) and it's a win/win.

I just recently got into the milsim genre and the reason behind it is your channel. It started with finding out your amazingly crafted S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series and then your EFT games which has now translated into me finding out I absolutely love your content and most of the games I see here. I play squad, DCS, EFT, and Insurgency Sandstorm cause I loved watching you play them.

Ive seen so many squad videos, I tried playing it myself and there should be a disclaimer that its an actual horror game. Most intense and most stressful game Ive played so far as I can remember. Its so damn loud and scary

@@randomclipsmilitary9056 but have you played warthunder night battles before they added flares and without NVGs? Driving around in the dark chasing gunshots and engine sounds, tension building as it gets closer and closer and suddenly your tank explodes. Never thought I'd jump scared by a tank game.
Didn't even know you played on The Playground server, but that's actually one of my top favorites. There's at least a good handful of people that know what they're doing on there any time you pop in for a match.
Of course we are, WWIII about to kick off, gotta get the public ready (similarly at least)
WW3 isn't similar to SQUAD (CoD or even BF would be closer).

Deffo is because the current real ukraine and ruissia war. I have 1k hours on squad but didnt play for 8+ months, after watching some of the clips of real combat against the Russians it put that combat vibes in my head and im back to playing squad again. I also been playing some war thunder tank gameplay again. I think it feels weird to say because you watching real people die and fight so you feel weird saying "I want to play a video game because of it" But its deffo a big part im sure lol
Yeah it’s a weird feeling. As long as we can keep the two separate and not make light of/game-ify the real thing I think it should be okay, like psychologically speaking. Real combat is fucking terrifying and disgusting and sad. Squad combat is fun.
I played a few hours of squad then stopped then I started watching your DCS videos that got me to your Squad videos a few months back and now I play Squad all the time.
BMP still to this day my fav vehicle, also miss the eastern militia faction so much so much fun playing as them. (Moved to a cabin in the woods so no internet just arma DRO and DCO situations)

The BMP-1 houses the same cannon as the SPG-9, and the rounds are actually quite similar to RPG-7 rounds

It's content creators like yourself that generate interest in these games. I wouldn't have even heard of or had any interest in playing many of these milsim/tactical shooter games if not for guys like you, Karmakut, Nano, Squidders etc.
yeah bro I hit up EGC servers on squad pretty much every day, and they used to have an average queue of about 5-20 at peak hours. Now they average atleast 30 :D

I think more players are coming to the Milsim genre because of what's happening in the real world right now. Games like Squad can definitely somewhat cater to people who take interest in what's going on outside of video games.
War is always glorified by those who have never seen it.
I think you and karmakut just got lucky in the algorithm the previous year and scratched the itch of many gamers who have become apathetic with battlefield and cod
I think Finland still has some BMP-1s kickin around. At the end of the day 1 1/2 lbs of TNT can still turn heads

That LAV kill was god like. I have played this match up and got destroyed by LAV on range. they are hard to hit with slow missiles
It'd be cool if the reload sequence for the Malyutka involved your character literally reaching out of the turret in first person.
If the game had interiors like in Arma then yeah that'd be awesome (and Arma Reforger has animations for interiors)

Drewski, I back in 2007 I started to play CoD 4 and soon found out the hardcore servers. I loved it, because I was never a fan of long TTK. After some time Battlefield 3 came and I kept only playing hardcore. Same for BC2 and BF4. Then came Arma III, Tarkov, Insurgency Sandstorm. But I got so hyped when BF2042 was announced, excited to play it in hardcore mode. But with the fiasco, I finally gave Squad a go. It instantly is my favorite game.
What I think is happening right now is that a good amount of players were disappointed with the BF launch, players that enjoyed the Battlefield series in hardcore mode. So what can we do, other then go for the closest game out there? Arma III is too old, with bad graphics and bad optimization. So, IMO, Squad is Battlefield hardcore, but slow paced.
