High Gent' s, it's a Greate Video! It creates the Illusion of the 60s. For my oppinion Model RR is always a compromise. I Love this Clip. Greating from Germany.
Sorry, Alco PA units were used on the Rio Grande segment of the California Zephyrs and later when it was the Rio Grande Zephyr. Google California Zephyr Alco PA and you'll find photos of them.
The four A were retired and scrapped in late 1967, so they obviously never operated on the Rio Grande Zephyr. In fact, they seldom operated on the CZ after the late '50s. The two B units were converted to steam generator cars in 1965. While they did indeed operate on the RGZ, they weren't locomotives by that point.
Well sir, type in the following in Google: California Zephyr Alco PA and you'll find numerous references and photos showing Rio Grand PA pulling the Zephyr. I don't know what else to tell you, your are mistaken and that's that.
Thank you for the nice video. The added sounds make it even more realistic. Is this the Broadway Limited set of the California Zephyr, H0 scale? What brand is the ALCO PA/PB?
Yes its the Broadway Limited set. I see they've reissued this set. The Alco A & B is a Photo 2000 model that was custom painted by the fellow I bought it from.
He-he, I know. Thank you, sir. I hope the set is holding up well. I am considering buying the reissue, but I only have experience with Märklin, a producer over here in Europe.
Great video and great layout! I rode the CZ as a kid from Denver to Grand Junction. Where did the awesome sound effects come from? Are those BL cars (just got a set)? How about the PAs?
The single stripe paint scheme was the fourth paint scheme for those PAs. Rio Grande started out the California Zephyr with PAs in ABA sets. The trouble plagued PAs were removed from the CZ in favor of ABBA F3 sets and then F9 sets. The PAs were placed on secondary trains such as the Yampa Valley Mail and also the Royal Gorge. A four stripe ABA set of PAs would be appropriate for your train since the single stripe scheme didn't come about until 1961.

Gnumpfy, thanks for the comment. Nice to hear from Germany. I last visited there in 1976.
Very nice layout. Magnificent video and audio production. Congratulations.
Thank you I appreciate the comment. First one in 5 years!
Appreciate your comment. Thanks. Its my favorite model besides my UP City train.
that was Zephyr back in the day The Silver Lady as she is called still takes the passengers from Salt Lake to Denver.
Have a look at several of my video uploads by Stephen Harris featuring the real Rio Grande Zephyr.
Love it. Great models, and the layout and sound dubbing do a very convincing job of making it look real. All in all, a nice video
Very nice video, I totally enjoyed all the sounds and views!

I've seen only two of your vids so far and I subbed. Proffesionally

I'm not familiar with Stumpter Valley. But you did see that PA's were used on the Zephyr besides F7's.

Beautiful PAs but single stripe PAs never pulled CZ.
Gad, I'm such a nit picker.
Well, I guess I should title it Rio Grande Zephyr to be more accurate.

Sadly I don't have the proper locomotives. I do have the WP ABB F's. Should have used those.

Moves too, too slow. About 30mph I would guess.
