It says: “It doesn’t matter what I say” “The only thing that matters is how you feel” “Understanding that the words are irrelevant is of great importance” “What feelings do you have”
A song of hope in humanity and community in that we are all here to come together as a unit of one and one day return together as one. I always feel something amazing when I listen to this band.
This song really pulls at my heat strings. I dont believe that you need to fully make sense of something to know what the feeling is, because not all feeling makes sense.
I'm just coming back from my 4th time seeing Sigur Ros' live performance. I have been listening to them for 12 years, and never got disappointing. They always blow me away.
When I hear this, I see people going through destroyed cities and landscapes but then the sun comes out and birds fly into the horizon...and the people get new hope because they see that life still goes on. Wow music always makes me fantasize...I think I'm going to draw that xD
Icelandic people know how to make good music. Every Icelandic artist i've ever discovered has blown me away. The most amazing, spiritual sounds seem to come from that country.
Woohoo....Just announced today...they are coming to New Zealand in July....I am soo excited...Can't wait...I know its going to be amazing...I am finally going to get to see them live..!!!!!!
I feel this is one of the most emotionally moving tracks Jónsi, Georg, Kjartan, Orri, Alex and Biggi have worked on and released in the last several years. It has all the signature Sigur Rós features and their signature buildup at the end to complete chaos! It's wonderful to have inspiration like this that can push music further and hopefully create more artists who reach for something beyond this world. Lovely job on the video Inga!
This is absolutely without a doubt THE BEST submission from the entire film experiment. So awesome, creative, artistic and original. Weird, cool and creepy all at the same time like a lot of the SR tour shows, and to one of the best tracks on the record too.
they are really good at putting contrast between the music and video. When watching it I kind of have a feeling like deafening quietness or magnificent triviality.
I went to the mountains for news years this year. Before sights so beautiful only nature can produce, my mind started replaying this song on a loop. A thanks the producers of this piece for making that experience possible!
outsidelands started as musical freedom. With an elegant twist it led to a comfort. Varvou was temporarily an experience... a sense of inability to move, similar to when an arm or leg goes to sleep, but not associated with numbness. This is one of the last few bands on earth that is strong enough to transfer energy so powerful it penatrates societies grasp. I encuroge those who feel lost to play this song alone in a beautiful place.
I think the message is the opposite of what a lot of people are saying. Though it seems like this song is about being alone and dying alone. the transmission of light and response at at different end show to me that though the person on one end is sending out light and can not see where or who is seeing it, someone else is definitely responding. Alone yes but not really, simply oblivious to the fact that someone else is responding, listening and caring...this is, in my opinion, the case for everyone in the world...
Every time I let myself drift into the tones of those 4 guys I get a strange feeling that I thought to have lost a long long time ago. This unceasing and undiminished passion for freedom, informality and love for nature that everyone of us has deep inside, concreted and welded behind thick walls, is set free with a loud bang. On the verge of packing my packs and giving those feelings room to grow I just stay for one reason: To continue listening.
Every now and then I come back to this video, and the Saeglópur underwater video. The pulse I get, and the goose bumps... It is something uncomfortable, strange but still so interesting about them. And both are among SR's greatest songs.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard..It give me so much hope for the future, its the kind of music that keeps m alive..thank you Sigur Ros..!! I hope you dont see this as spam, but I just think that good music needs to be shared... I found a band on youtube called "Nyctalgia" If you've got time, listen to their songs "Lost in timeless horizons" or "Falling into nothingness" Breathtaking and powerful songs by this young talented guy..!
I am STUNNED! Stunned by Sigur Ros' greatness...stunned by this wonderful deep song. What other band on earth has such beauty, innocence, feelings, and climax in their songs?? Sigur Ros, you never cease to amaze me...thanks you.
This is one of the best tracks on Valtari which I think is in its way absolutely fabulous. So full of emotions and soul thrills! As expected from Sigur Ros though.
What i love about Sigur ros is they are never hurried,a song doesnt have any time limits,it is what it is.Why worry when a song has to end? It doesnt really. Never been so thrilled about one piano chord change in perfect time!Just perfect!
I think they were struggling a bit with this album, like Georg said on their website: "i really can’t remember why we started this record, i no longer know what we were trying to do back then. i do know session after session went pear-shaped, we lost focus and almost gave up..did give up for a while. but then something happened and form started to emerge, and now i can honestly say that it’s the only sigur rós record i have listened to for pleasure in my own house after we’ve finished it."-georg
I think the ending of this cllip tells us that even if you think that you are not lonely in this world and seek hope, at the end you come to realize that you are and will always be on your very own.
It's a different type of music genius. It quite frankly is beautiful, takes real skill to write, and gets awesomely intense at the end. If you dont like this music dont watch the videos and definately dont bother to comment.
New stuff from sigur ros. Omg...saved my day...i have been whaiting SO long for more. I feel like my soul is now on peace again. Thank you very much sigur ros...
In an era of globalization where the masses are constantly exposed to and use/consume technology, boy bands, reality TV, rap music, superhero movies, fast food, mass advertising, sexualised women, broken political promises and in my opinion- are in a period where society is at a moral crisis; it is comforting to see another visual masterpiece unfold before my eyes, accompanied by the beautiful music of Sigur Ros and a simple, heart-warming tale and message of compassion, humanity and love.
I agree that society is for the most part morally corrupt. But, technology? Fast food? Superhero movies? How do any of these things contribute to the degradation of society's morals?
+TheCakeFlavoredPie I don't believe technology and superhero movies are inherently to blame for- but rather, the mass use of them. What's the percentage of people on something like a train carriage, a cafe or anywhere really in public who are looking down at their iPhones or other piece of technology? I went on the train a few days ago, and literally everybody except me and my friend were looking at their phones and one had an iPad or some type of tablet. Me and my friend were the only ones speaking face-to-face the entire trip, or really at each other actually- everyone else was texting or looking at their technology. Superhero movies dominate Hollywood nowadays. Instead of regular Hollywood gems and films of great quality, for the last few decades- cheap entertainment has overpowered great art IMO. That's why I mostly stick to independent, foreign or art house film if I want to watch a contemporary film. Fast food- whilst 'yummy' and 'quick', is full of all types of unhealthy things that have propelled most teenagers to have acne and the largest rate of diabetes, heart disease and other health problems the world has ever known. The fact that LOTS of people indulge in it is sickening. We'll soon be a society like that in WALL-E, all weighing over 300 pounds and sitting in front of screens all day.
+Ryan Baxter I couldn't have said it better. I bring things like this up on what seems to be a weekly basis with various people, and i find a lot of them dont really agree with me. I made the same statement about movies as well. Effects have overtaken true ability and emotion. We're becoming an artificial world.
Adam Kuhlman Thanks man. Good to know that there's another person out there who feels similar as I and my profile pic Mason from the film Boyhood do. If you haven't seen it yet, you should totally check it out!
This is magic. Sigur Rós is the only band that can rip out my heart in such a gentle manner. This music touches on something very profound deep down in my soul and provides nourishment.
Inga, you rock!!! One of SR's best videos. Even the very beginning is already so strong. The picture touches heart and expresses music with every touch of brush.
There is something so lonely and ominous about this track. I can't quite put my finger on it. During that huge amazing build up I feel frightened but at the same time so amazed. Its indescribable actually.
For anyone who doesn't know, sigur ros is from Iceland. To know their music you need to understand the culture. It's family and friends before fame and riches. You don't feel music like this from other bands because the Icelandic culture is far beyond any others. They express themselves through passion and understanding. They are truly a group that will go beyond simple emotions and language barriers.
Is this a good thing? How DOES this music make some people feel? It makes me feel good/empowered/included/sad-in-a-good-way... You know, the way Sigur Ros has always made me feel. I Love how everybody's individual lights rise into the sky and disappear. Moving, Transcendent.

This is definitely the very best video I've seen for Varud. Congrats, Ingibjorg, you have amazing talent to feel the music the way it was meant to be felt. I adore it and watch it every time I need mellowing. Thankyou for the upload.

This song manages to capture the feeling when I was waiting for my girlfriend to come out of a metro in Paris and I was searching for her face in crowd. The nervousness, the excitement and finally the moment when we saw each other and it was like all the pain and hurt of being apart was worth it for this instant when we made our way towards each other, closing the distance, hearts racing and feeling that sweet embrace.

Jesus would not have had anyone murdered for anything.Mankind can always take something good and turn to darkness and madness becauses of what we call sin, which by definiton means inherent seperation from God.We can all argue many points concerning these things, but the basic reason for the initial comments were that Sigur Ros´s music is incredible and reaches into the other deeper layers of soul expression. This had me in tears. Stunning. It taps into something that I cannot explain. The real beauty of music .
This song really pulls at my heat strings. I dont believe that you need to fully make sense of something to know what the feeling is, because not all feeling makes sense.
Every sigur ros song seems unique and yet seems to have a common theme.
This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard

That made me think of The Last of Us, especially the giraffe scene
+Lewis North U know that game? Yay :D But you're right. The giraffe scene gives hope.. even in a world full of infected
+BlueMoonlight777 Yeah, it's my favourite game, good to meet someone else who likes it here :)
Lewis North dito :D
+BlueMoonlight777 True, a lone tear fell from my eye when i finished the game.
It's so perfect that gives me hope.
Icelandic people know how to make good music. Every Icelandic artist i've ever discovered has blown me away. The most amazing, spiritual sounds seem to come from that country.
Suggest some other artists please.

Real music. Full of passion and emotion. This is the stuff that should dominate the charts- music that can touch your heart and soul.

If you're ever questioning life, stick Sigur Ros on. So you can at least do it in the right ambience....

But very true.

The drums at the end slowly getting louder is amazing.
“The gang wins an Emmy”

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia brought me here. But, this might be the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.

Beautiful music! Love from Czech Republic
great!, I'm gonna go there!
greetings from Brazil!

Masterpiece
Is this a good thing? How DOES this music make some people feel? It makes me feel good/empowered/included/sad-in-a-good-way... You know, the way Sigur Ros has always made me feel. I Love how everybody's individual lights rise into the sky and disappear. Moving, Transcendent.
I don't understand a word of this, but it's still great.
It is irish
Nils Schoenebeck Not even close.
It's Icelandic.

Any Dutch Jabronis here translate the title to English, and maybe show us how to pronounce it properly?
It was such a good finale, Franks expression at the end was my own

I saw Jonsi & Alex live in Austin, on his GO tour. Unforgettable-it was art, music,& a religious experience altogether. Love them so much. We all really connected under a shower of all that love.

Some of the most moving music I've heard in my life. I thank Saverio Luzzo for bringing me here.
I want this song on my funeral!
i think that show changed my life forever... also helped me appreciate this song even more, it was mindblowing!
The sounds in this are so beautiful...it brings me to tears...
lyrics in english
Warning
Three laid out
And fields of everything melted
Out all, all out.
And let's light the bonfire-candles
And the winds from far away.
As ?who/might be something else? became brick walls
All, everywhere
And enough bones are cold
Kills everything
Warning
Warning
Outside, part of the icecold
Let's light a bonfire, when it's evening
And words wait bluecold
Let's build again a silver shelter
And winds from underneath
As ?who? became brick walls
All, everywhere
There laid a thousand falls
And draws everything
Warning
Warning
Warning

I was on the tube a week ago listening to this, and I got teary eyed just at how amazing this song is.
I love how the ending is a similar beat to Glosoli
Haven't been listening to them enough recently, i realise what my life was missing... thank you
