Now that you know what big brands are looking for from Commercial Car Photographers - will it change your approach to shooting cars? Lets chat about it.
For sure! It is really difficult to get their attention, so help like this is super valuable. I'm sure following these steps will add another level of professionalism to your portfolio.
Certain aspects, yes. Especially the "shooting on the wrong side of the road" thing. Sometimes I have the car do a fly-by around the camera car but that's gonna change for sure.
Im gonna shoot a C7 ZR1 tomorrow after my graduation exam lol hahah Thank you so much for your content ! It improved me soooo much! I gotta meet you one day and thank you in person!
Excited to hear how the shoot goes my man! Thanks so much for showing up and showing love! We'll make a meet happen one of these days. Keep up the grind and congrats on the Graduation!
Always on point Alex! Listening to the client is crucial. Nothing is more frustrating than a creator with a huge ego that delivers what they want and not what the brand wants.
Thanks for all your work and help on the shoot! Team work made the dream work and I'm super happy with how the photos turned out. Gotta have that brand first mentality if you ever want to work for them again.
Tons of value, once again. Keep it up! If I did not get the insights in the process behind commercial shoots during my work placement at Porsche, almost every point would have been new to me 😀🙏
interesting video, esp. for enthusiast photographers, I never knew they 'briefed' you in such a detailed way, but would make a great follow up video, if you went a bit deeper into this, like how you get in touch with them in the first place. PS in the 'DO NOT" section, the car was on the WRONG side of the road!!- we drive on the LEFT!!!
Great tips alex. Another one to think about is traffic, where are you going and how are you going there? Nothing worse then getting stuck and watching your shooting time disappear.
Great tips and more on those do not to do. I have seen many one parking in the middle on the road and one thinks it looks nice but make sense to do by law and correctly. Looking forward to put in practice these advices and for more videos. Thanks for sharing 👍 🤙
These are some amazing tips, especially the walkie talkies. I unfortunately lost one of my radios so Ive been using cell phones BUT this video reminded me.
Oh shoot! Sorry to hear you lost one but they are super helpful so definitely recommend getting those back. The ones I have aren't crazy expensive but they are crazy helpful. =D Thanks as always for watching!
When I did a shoot with Honda UK in October they told me on the phone that they wanted photos of the Honda “e”, then once I got there I found out I had to focus on the pilot instead 😂 (it was F1 driver Gasly, so I can’t complain). This is to say that: yes, do some pre-shoot work but expect surprises as well
I wish I could man, I felt a bit on edge putting any of the documentation in there as I have signed some contracts with Porsche but essentially I covered everything they cover in the document but using my own photos instead of their reference photos. Hopefully that is helpful!
It is really indeed, especially part about do not list, I know I've been doing them myself quite a bit 😁 now more things to consider. You learn new things everyday and your journey thought me the most amongst other channels I have seen and it aligned perfectly with my progress. So thank you again for all of them.
Awesome tips, I try to incorporate many of them in non-commercial shoots too, unless it's a car with a mean rebel personality, then break all the rules 😆. That lighting with the white t-shirt and dark background is insane!!
Haha! So true! Gotta know the rules so that you know when to break em! Stoked you like the lighting setup here too - tried something a little different #DriveToSurvive style!
That was straight out of the brief that Porsche sent me to use as a guide. I couldn't share the whole document so I shared the information that is helpful to car photographers as best I could.
Hey! I actually have a video talking about just this! Look for it on my page. Even better there’s a pro speaking to it, not just me. And the tips I learned from it actually helped me land this Porsche gig. Well worth a watch. ✌🏼
Would be awesome if you could do a tutorial video on how to edit out objects in the background of car shots. I've been looking for instructional videos on this, but haven't found any good ones so far. Love the content though!
Very informative, thanks a lot 😊 seeing the photos it looks like a lot of experience is needed. Maybe AI is able to help in some instances for beginners. I would like to hear if work with brand/s was worth it? Cheers 👋
Bro I do really want to buy your presets but the canadian dollar, compared to the $ of my country, is x3, so at the end I have to pay not 50 but 150 dollars ;(
Incredibly informative video although, if you get a photo of a car driving on the wrong lane illegally, wouldn't a simple solution be to just mirror the photograph? xD
Don't ever title a video with the words 'the rules of...' . In photography there are no such things as rules so don't be so arrogant as to suggest there are.
Hey Mike, seems we may have a misunderstanding here. The title is “rules of commercial car photography”, which when you are fortunate enough to photograph for larger automotive brands like Porsche, they literally send you a PDF outlining Do’s and Do Nots (rules) by which they need you to follow in order to have useable photos. It’s possible you didn’t even watch the video, as having an opportunity like this and then taking the time to create a UA-cam video to help further other peoples photography careers is the farthest thing from arrogance. Though you are correct in saying that there should not be “rules” in photography in general, I might suggest a little more consideration in your comments as it words like this that can discourage creators from taking the time to create content for people like you.

Absolutely, also helps to have connections with others that work for dealerships as well
It absolutely will. Knowing what to do and don't gets better idea to practice. Thanks
It will help, and a template of these briefs would help, thanks

Those car lightroom presets are amazing!!
Glad you like them! Thanks so much for the support!
The walkie tip is huge. I'm constantly giving hand signals and trying to yell what I want the driver to do lol
Haha, exactly! It totally helps both the driver and the photographer. Way more seamless shooting. Thanks for watching!
Can't believe you haven't reached a 100k already. Been a subscriber for a long time and you never disappoint with these !
Thanks mate for the tutorial!! it's helping me to do some Commercial car photography
Tons of value, once again. Keep it up!

Hopefully they help you create better content! Cheers!

Great point! Don’t shoot during rush hour, or plan around it 👌🏼
Outstanding video
Thanks Alex, super helpful! Been wondering about all the do's and don'ts!
Happy to help!
Great tips and things to watch for! Those rollers in the mountains though 🤤
Glad you like them! I lost my S*** when I saw the photos on the back of my camera haha. Super stoke on how they turned out. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching man! Definitely some tips that we all need reminding of, myself included =)

@@TheCarCreative I've got a 3 pack with ear pieces on order. :D
Super useful tips man.
Glad to hear it! Always appreciate the feedback man!
I really appreciate this, seems straight forward but the world of higher end car photography can be so mysterious.
It’s mysterious even working in it haha. Every dealership is different and working with big brands still feels uncertain.
@@TheCarCreative We don't know what we don't know! You're on the right track, next steps are ad agencies I think if you're not already. :)
please make a video on how to approach to automotive companies for shoot through email like what to write and about email template
I second the benefits of the stackable presets.
Boom! Means a lot my friend!
Great video! Can’t wait for the next one!
More to come!
Great video! And ofcourse Great tips, the illegal road side is something i have never tought of hehe! Gonna have that in mind 👌
I hadn’t put it together either! So glad I know now! Thanks so much for watching!

Great Video Dude! Keep it up with the awesome work❤️🔥
Thanks! Will do! 🙌🏼
Always so helpful and honest. I love the content man, keep it up!
I appreciate that!

Thanks for this, some good advice
Glad it was helpful!
Appreciate you making such a video, honestly, would love to get a copy of that guidelines if publicly available. Would improve our skills drastically.

I love your videos, you’re really clear.
I really struggle to get my car photos to ‘pop’ I think it’s down to colour grading.
Great tips as always
Good job man 🤘 just getting into this type of stuff myself
Oh dude! You’ll love it. Cars are so fun to work with!
Some more good content dude, keep it up :)
Hey ! This video helped me out a lot. Now I know what to do in the future. Question. What website did you use when showing the do's and don'ts
That was straight out of the brief that Porsche sent me to use as a guide. I couldn't share the whole document so I shared the information that is helpful to car photographers as best I could.
is there anywhere we can download the guidelines ? Great video keep up the great work
I’d love to see a follow up video on charging creative fees and usage licensing
Can you make a video of how to get in touch with big brands, how to get those big contracts?
Hey! I actually have a video talking about just this! Look for it on my page. Even better there’s a pro speaking to it, not just me. And the tips I learned from it actually helped me land this Porsche gig. Well worth a watch. ✌🏼
Soo, how'd you land the deal with Porsche? How can we obtain commercial projects like this? and lastly; How do you price this project?
Hello, is it possible to send a template of this brief? Thanks.
Would be awesome if you could do a tutorial video on how to edit out objects in the background of car shots.
I've been looking for instructional videos on this, but haven't found any good ones so far.
Love the content though!
Hey man! Thanks for watching and that’s a killer idea! Thank you for the suggestion. 👊🏼👊🏼
Very informative, thanks a lot 😊 seeing the photos it looks like a lot of experience is needed. Maybe AI is able to help in some instances for beginners. I would like to hear if work with brand/s was worth it? Cheers 👋
There's any place where i can download your pictures so I can use them as Desktop wallpaper ?
Is it just me or is the studio the same as in DTS
Thanks for the tips , can add one more ? Coz I forgot many times . Wash that damn car haha
Haha! Yes, definitely have to keep the car clean.
The Lens is to wide imo Maybe 80mm would fit very well
Bro I do really want to buy your presets but the canadian dollar, compared to the $ of my country, is x3, so at the end I have to pay not 50 but 150 dollars ;(
Send me an email at alex@thecarcreative.ca - we can work something out.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Incredibly informative video
although, if you get a photo of a car driving on the wrong lane illegally, wouldn't a simple solution be to just mirror the photograph? xD
I suppose that would be a simple fix, then the driver might be on the wrong side of the car... hmm... but great idea!
OMG, the messy windscreen at 5:18 :( Don't tell me that they approved it :P
100th comment!!! Woohoo!
I have no comment.

Ayyyy
Yooo! Thanks for showing up! :D
