Michael Anthony is killing it. That bass line and backing vocals are insane. ✌️
How good, and how humble is this man?
Now that's a ROCK N ROLL song! ✌️
Fair warning is my favorite Van Halen album
1978- 1984 Van Halen is unequaled. Every member an essential component to the whole.
Being a vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist myself and playing in bands from back in the 80's and 90's I do remember hearing his solo eruption for the first time along with some other guitar player friends of mine and we all thought the same thing; "What the heck is he doing?" The only people I knew that did know what he was doing was two of my musician friends, which one was a guitar player, who had studied jazz and classical guitar and another musician friend of mine who could also play guitar but went to college on a bass guitar scholarship. They were the only two musicians out of everybody I knew, who knew how he was doing some of these things. And then I have guitar friends who eventually went to see Van Halen in concert and saw it for themselves. Their first tour was as the opening band for Black Sabbath. Also, if you want to actually see how Eddie is doing the guitar work for the beginning of this song, then you watch his video where he's doing his live guitar solo, and he does this in part the solo. You'll recognize it as soon as you hear it. And there is also a live video to this song that you can watch too. Cool reaction.
RIP King Edward🙏
EVH the greatest of all time, period. RIP my man.
1000% correct. He was light years ahead of everyone before him
My favorite VH tune, thanks!
The "secret" to this era van halen sound is that rhythm parts are single layer guitar only, no doubling (which the vast majority other bands do) , gives it that characteristic rawness.
Hey, young brother...a bit of trivia for ya: the instrumental breakdown right before Ed's solo was originally the break in their tune "She's the Woman." You can still hear it if you look up VH demos...super cool stuff!
Loved growing up to this great music on the radio
Fair Warning is my favorite album of all time. This is my favorite track on the album. The whole album is badass, not a bad one on it. This would’ve been the greatest time ever to be a teenager. I was 10 years old when this came out and I was 16 before I got the album. Great reaction man,I’m glad you’re getting to know “The Mighty Van Halen!”
Released the Spring of my Senior year. Don’t tell me we didn’t know how to rock. 🔥🎸
Height of VH, really. I think this album and W&CF were really their peak musically. This is a fantastic tune, for sure!!!
That opening guitar flourish just proves Edward Van Halen was not of this Earth!
That’s my favorite album by the group Fair Warnings
My favorite Van Halen song. Eddie and Alex both right on.
Effing best G chord ever played right there in the beginning.
Van Halen had SWAGGER. It was effortless. Rare were the bands that possessed it as well. Aerosmith comes in close. Nothing like it since. Today's rock bands look and sound like library science majors. RIP Eddie.
Zeppelin. Swag up the yin-yang
Eddy? The whole band was swinging the shit out of this ...
@@stevemccuish7628 that’s what he said
44 years listening to Van Halen. I love this track. Eddie is the true experience.
Eddie Van Halen... Gone but will never be forgotten.
It's Mean Street. Not Mean Streets.
ALWAYS preferred DLRs Van Halen!
RIP Eddie. the GOAT
I think, like most people my age, that these songs should be listened to in the context of the album. Anything before like 1992 I listen to the album with the tracks in order.
one of the heaviest tunes but i would say i'm With The Wind is there heaviest of all VH tunes. unfortunately, never recorded except for live in 74.
Heavier than Romeo Void , Unchained or Hear about it Later, House of Pain ?
Ps DOA
Greatest American Rock Band Ever! Good reaction.
Eddie’s riffs are his secret superpower. The solos are the cherrie on top.👊🏽⚡️
You
should do that whole album
Little guitar's!!
What is he doing? Impossible EVH stuff. Sadly we just took that stuff for granted back in the day.
The Mighty Van Halen ruled the world 78-84
Is this another one of my requests John ?
This is the VH I ❤
Come on show Eddie some respect, the song is called Mean Street.
Notice this guy never reply’s to UA-cam folks?
"Lord, strike that poor boy down..." as the poor boy got *zapped* by the lightning bolt coming off of Eddie's guitar!
I like how he rhymed down with down. Clever
Yes Eddie ( the king) was slapping it like you would a bass in the very beginning!
Powerful Van Halen Rock Classic!
Girl gone bad!!🔥🔥
One of my favorites.
Can't believe that song is 43 years old. Still sounds modern and fresh!!!
Can't believe I've been listening to this song for 43 years.
Holy smoke it seems like yesterday.
@@dorkmier Realizing my first Van Halen concert was 42 years ago.......
@@anthonypowell6234 Mine was 44 years ago. Same
Nice! Great rocker with such a nasty swagger.
I was thinking the same thing, where have you been all your life.
Makes me feel old - Dude's listening to tunes that were 20 years out of date before he was even born. And that was the music of my own youth...
That "Dance, baby!" bridge is as funky as rock and roll gets. Check VH's "D.O.A." for an equally badass riff. I always think of Mean Street as a "hidden gem," since it never got much airplay. I seek out reactions to it to witness dudes like u getting gobsmacked by it, lol.
I graduated from High School in 1985, Van Halen was and is one of the best bands of all time. They are a huge part of my youth. Saw them in concert in 1984, amazing!! I still listen to VH as a 57 year old Grandma. Loud! Always loud!
That’s the greatest intro of guitar of all time along with the most incredible guitar sound / tone you will ever hear.
oh, here we freeking go!!!!
My favorite VH album.
Bruce Lee
Michael Jordan
Eddie Van Halen
Have you done a Van Halen "Unchained" reaction?
Yeah Eddie plays the intro slapping the guitar but my 1st Van Halen concert was Fair Warning Tour.
Eddie played the intro of this song with a drum stick
I think this was one of their best albums, musically and a little darker and more cynical than their previous…..it was on the soundtrack to my friends and my life for several years….with attitude!
Eddy is already swinging the beat, ihave played the drums in bands for 40plus years this thing swings ...
It's TRUE... Once You Hear this Song You REALLY are COOLER! : )))
I'm so fortunate to have been able to enjoy VH since their first album, that I bought on 8 track.
He was tappin
Just listen to this Whole album Uninterrupted!!
Really one of the greasiest rock grooves out there
Play the damn song aleady..
The first Fax machine
Dude are you high? WTF?
Fair Warning is a killer album
Van Halen's best song by far!!!
He is truly missed.
Oh Eddie! Oh Dave!
Do DROP DEAD LEGS!
The Best VH song
Their Anthem.
insane riff.
Definitely one of my favorite Van Halen tracks.
Eddie and his 'brown sound'...just awesome
The groove on in this song is off the charts
he's doing a sort of slap tapping
Best band ever....til Band-Maid.
