This is brilliant! All I need do is figure in the price of a Fender Custom Shop into the overall cost of the vacation. I will just tell my wife it was part of the vacation package! I LOVE YOU GUYS!
I've taken my family out and took a side trip to the local pawn shops. My wife LOOOVVEEESS when I do this. lol
Lol just back from vacation on last day I went and had a look in guitar shop. Suggested after that a stop at local cash converters (pawn shop) the death stare I got from my wife.... I didn’t even slow down.

My fiancé and I drove the 5 hours and 49 minutes to Casino Guitars in Southern Pines, NC on Monday morning, arriving just as they opened. I got to hang out with Baxter and Jonathan for hours and hours, talking about guitars and amps and Star Wars! James and I went out to get a cappuccino and then he and I had coffee and cigs and six-strings talk out front for a while before I went back inside and bought a beautifully relic'd 60s style Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster in Daphne Blue 💙. What an amazing day!
...and then my alarm went off. It was time to wake up and go to work. The whole grand adventure was only a dream! (I promise to try not to be disappointed if my first pilgrimage to Casino Guitars doesn't go this way. If so, I'll just have to cry into my lady's ample bosom.)

Took the family to Disneyland a few years ago and the trip just happened to include visits to the G&L factory in Fullerton and the Fender factory in Corona
Coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, and guitar stores are always parts of my vacation planning.

Southern Pines is a really cool little place. I made a trip specifically to go to Casino from Greenville, but my wife and I will be back to visit some this summer. BTW, Sean was awesome, and I'm still loving the RW Tele I picked up.

My family and I love you guys we watch you all the time we live right outside of Ashland Kentucky which is a couple of hours East of Lexington and we are coming down shortly to see you all can't wait to see you never bought a new guitar out of the shop and you guys are going to be the first
Dave's Guitar Shop in La Crosse, WI is another great place to take the family in the summer. You can go boating and fishing on the Mississippi, cruise the highways along the Mississippi, and lots of camping/parks in the area. Plus, Dave has one of the best collections of vintage guitars upstairs in the store! Unfortunately, they have not fully opened to foot traffic yet. Hopefully that changes soon.
Thanks guys I love starting my day with a good laugh. I have Music Villa on my to do list along with Gibson and since I live in Montana that one is doable for me. We will also hit one of the local breweries so my husband will not care if I do buy another guitar! Win win!
I've been told by some friends to make the trek to Casino. A friend here used to know Jonathan from Guitar Center. I'm not too far away, so I'll make it a day trip. Get up early, hit the hay late. Just like my days on the farm.

Speaking of South Carolina, Sims Music in Columbia is a wonderful, well stocked, family owned music store handling mostly guitars and drums. Columbia is a pretty cool town, too. Not much golf, but still pretty cool. Great jazz scene, and a wonderful philharmonic orchestra.
Weekend homework assignment... find all the pictures of Baxter from his different life phases and do show and tell in next batch of videos. Please make this happen.

I would really love to just see a 15 minute photo montage with him explaining where his state of mind was. It would be the highest rated most epic video Casino has ever put out... especially for the hardcore. Lol.
I love how you guys incorporated the historic awning on your building into your concept and name. I have a story about a cool guitar buying road trip.
Back in the late 70's, before relicing, before custom shops, before superstrats, back in the day my best friend's father drove us both over the NY state line (probably a felony now) to a mostly-used shop where my buddy bought one of those baseball bat sized, thick-necked late fifties real, actual vintage Les Paul standard gold top in outstanding condition with original case for...hang on there, buckaroo...for three hundred bucks. Yowza. Now, that's worth getting in the car for although I understand he later dumped it to pay for Pampers.
What haunts me is wondering what else was in the shop that we hadn't even noticed. Kids have a weird kind of tunnel vision. I once owned a brand-new Jackson "Tina Turner", and a couple of number 2700 or so original Charvel San Dimas Strats circa 1983, all gone, simply to illustrate that no man has a monopoly on stupidity.

I always love checking out music stores when I'm in a new place. You never know when you may come across an awesome deal or just some cool gear. Plus when you're on vacation, you should hopefully not be stressed out and you can take your time better than during a normal work week.

Damn, Baxter and Jonathan were tapping into my inner spirit animal with this one! Here in Savannah/Hilton Head we don't have big guitar shops, but we do have iconic golf. Try Palmetto Dunes or Harbourtown Golf Links, for a start. Funny that you mention Lance B. out at Wildwood - he has taken care of me on a few occasions, most recently scoring a fabled Reverend Greg Koch Signature Gristle 90 a couple of weeks ago. Thanks, Lance! Great people! Sure would be fun to visit y'all some time soon in South Pines, for sure. 🙂👍

Blue Angel Music in Pensacola FL Great shop Great Town I am from Texas we vacationed in Pensacola, saw the Blue Angels fly and bought a guitar too.....

I’m from Burlington. Live in Austin. We have a great shop here - Austin Guitar House. But, man, I miss NC when I watch this. Used to play the Pit for $30 during the week.

Given that my corp's HQ is in Raleigh, once we can travel, will come down and visit. Man, I am normally 10-15k km per year on road-trips, that's how I disconnect, and due to some work and Cov details now missed 2 years of the escape valve. I have loved heading to Asheville, back when Overland Expo was held there. Really nice country side.
Ever since I realized y'all were in a part of North Carolina I hadn't been to (but…almost!), I've been wondering what the area's like. I miss living in Raleigh in some ways. Your train station reminds me a lot of ours (Menlo Park, CA, built in 1867). I'd also love to visit Wildwood. While it's in a big metro area, True Tone Music is in Santa Monica, CA and a few blocks from the beach. Norman's Rare Guitars in Tarzana's in a boring location, but what a selection. Even my local guitar store, Haight Ashbury Music, isn't in the Haight any more, having moved 30 miles south to Redwood City.
This successful life were livin got us fuedin like the Hatfield's and McCoys.

Best shop in the nicest neighborhood - Tom Anderson in Newbury Park. It makes you want to build your own guitars

San Jose is meh for being a vacation destination but Guitar Showcase was one of the most stellar shops I've had the please of calling local.
My sister lives in Montana, I might have to hit up Bozeman when I get out to visit her.

I was able to snag a Taylor 612 and a thinskin 59 Strat from Wildwood mostly due to being able to convince my wife to take a vacation out in the Denver/Colorado Springs/Manitou Springs areas. It wasn't about the guitar...it was a family vacation...

Easy to vacation in Chicago for an urban get away, great food, sports, arts, etc/etc/etc. Go to Chicago Music Exchange - - - there is NOT a better guitar shop in the US. Tell me if there is. Selection is enormous. Everything from low to high end. Multiple rooms with amps to play in private. Even a couple/several amps in main area set up with Ox Box and headphones (what???!!!!, that's awesome). Entire acoustic area closed off for quiet. Bass area down stairs. Seriously, it is a destination.

I’d love to come to Casino and meet up with y’all. I think I’ll seriously make plans to do so when I buy my first custom shop. I’d rather do it in person than over the phone. Or at least order it over the phone and go there to pick it up. I would love to make arrangements with y’all to do this during fall of ‘23, around the end of September or beginning of October. Re: Wildwood. Do they even have the old location? I went to the new one a few weeks ago (about 15 minutes away from me) and the showroom was indeed closed. Louisville sorta still looks like that...? Golden and the Grizzly Rose had gone total tourist trap, though I can’t understand why anyone thinks Golden is that cool. Unless they reallllly like Coors or some such.

I just got a chance to watch this!!! Thanks for the killer shout out!! Kinsey actually noticed because I was telling her something about Pokémon go! She was like “they’re talking about you!” It was an amazing honeymoon, and visiting you guys was definitely one of my favorite parts! Hopefully we can swing down that way again for a vacation soon! You guys brought up Wildwood, I think they’re awesome. I waited almost a year to the day for a 61 CS Strat and it finally came in Yay... I paid for two day delivery it was supposed to get here yesterday but FedEx tried to deliver it to my neighbors? Even though I have a 3‘ x 3‘ sign next to my house with my address on it. Now I’m getting conflicting information Fedex is telling Wildwood I have to pick it up at this massive Fedex hub by me which is the human version of the roach motel (customers go in but they don’t come out) and Fedex is emailing and texting me that they’re going to try and deliver it to me today. So I’m not sure if I should go and try to pick it up or wait here. I have called Fedex but the automated system will not allow you to speak to a human. I am starting a four-day weekend which was going to be awesome because I was getting my new guitar..... help me....I just needed to vent. Good video guys!
