Income effect implies change in real income due to price change. For normal goods, demand increases due to fall in price(implies rise in real income), hence income effect is negative. Negative income and substitution effect results in negative price effect for Normal goods. For inferior goods, the income effect is positive( since due to price fall say, implying rise in real income, demand falls). This positive income effect is less than the negative substitution effect, hence the price effect of an Inferior good is negative. For Giffen goods, the positive income effect ( price fall leads to less demand with rise in real income)is greater than the negative substitution effect, hence price effect of Giffen good is positive.

Substitution effect is always positive but here as is defined as negative.
We studied net price effect is negative for giffen good and here is positive kindly make it clear we have doubt.
