This channel is based in the North East of England ( UK ) and documents our explorations of both the underground and above ground workings of abandoned, and sometimes operational mines within areas such as the Northern Pennines, North Yorkshire and the Lake District, sometimes a little further. We now and again throw in some caving too. Our intention is to document these abandoned mines, show how they worked and talk about the history behind them. Unfortunately, due to politics, or the need to preserve the site, we can not always name the mine location. If the location is not shown in the video, please do not ask as refusal to divulge often offends.
THE DANGERS OF ABANDONED MINE EXPLORATION :
****
Abandoned mines contain dangers for which equipment and training are required. Hazards can include false floors, open shafts, low oxygen, poisonous gases, collapsing or rotten structures, explosives, flood risks, bacterial infection and of course, rock falls. NEVER enter alone, ALWAYS thoroughly research your destination, ALWAYS alert a third party to your plans and timings. STAY OUT, STAY ALIVE.
This video SHOULD NOT be considered instructional or used for navigation within this mine. Video is for historical documentation and entertainment only.

Spiders are lovely, just smile and say hello! 😂
We did, they made us a lovely cuppa :)
Great job lads! Spiders were my BIGGEST fear the first 2 mines I went in. It took me MONTHS to work up the courage. When I finally DID go in there were none! 😂What luck! 😂
Thanks, yes, as I say in the video, I don’t usually spot them as I’m not looking for them, some mines we have been in are full of them. Thanks for the feedback :)
@@UKAbandonedMineExplores I can’t help but not look for them 😂
@@EPSGplayer😂😂😂
@@UKAbandonedMineExplores I saw a GIANT Cave cricket today!
That forest looks like my local place. I swear I've even walked over that fallen tree. Might you be in Scotland? 😅
lol, nope, but not too far away :)
I think, based on extensive research in the archives of Prof. K. Dodd of Knotty Ash, that the black stuff 16:43 is actually dilute run off from a small, quite rare, vein of naturally occurring treacle. Professor Dodd wrote that it's quite similar to the mines of Rock Ferry which are renowned for their, again geographically unique, but plentiful jam butty veins.
I hope this clarifies the matter. 😁👍
I Thankyou very much for your advice, I shall return and acquire some, it should make fine cakes. I shall let you know the outcome :)
Thanks guys for exploring from Italy 👍💯 ok Ciaoo
Thanks muchly Rinour :)
I loved this. It mabe little but its very colourful and interesting just the same as bigger ones. Those spiders? OOOOOF 😳
Yup, would be interesting to drain and enter the bits below the water :)
As long as you fine folks don't run into Shelob ... you'll be just fine. Thanks for posting. Quite the adventure.
Oh, we did bump into him, but he didn't want to appear on camera, makes a lovely brew, and being able to make 8 at once is very handy :). Glad you enjoyed :)
Eh ace i was a coal miner in stoke to see iron stone what joy what luck though you touchin the wall n bits breaking off whoo heartbeat skipped a bit
Glad you enjoyed. Yes, this mine is very loose and it's a collapse at the portal that eventually sealed it's fate.
Very cool Ironstone mine, i bet if the original miners tried to blast it, the whole mine would've collapsed since its so brittle.
Agreed, yes, it’s a bit of a fragile one.
Nice mine .even a beginner could handle . Those nuts on the walls could be spider nurseries .
True, once they got past the first part lol
That was fun!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Thanks Paul, your welcome :)
A small but very interesting mine, some of the pick marks look like it was getting worked from the opposite way to you was walking.
I don't want to worry you but some of the spiders in that cave can pack quite a punch if you get bitten. Possibly around the pain of a bee or wasp sting. There main food is moths and mosquitoes so you will be pleased to know that you both were not on their menu that day.
It possibly was, maybe they looped back on themselves. We offered the spiders a cup of tea and they promised not to bite ;)
@@UKAbandonedMineExplores I hope that it was Yorkshire Tea you offered them 🤣
they might of lost alot of gold with this mine if they were mining iron, only 1980 was gold properly discovered in the uk from what ive been told,i know quartz and gold are like 2/2 but it also is attracted to iron
May have to look into that, it’s something I have no knowledge of :)
Nice explore guys 👍
Personally, spiders don't concern me
If I was going to be a super villain I'd be Rolled Up Newspaper Man and then I could easily defeat Spiderman
P. S. was Peter wearing a thong?
He seemed to be having a bit of VPL going on 😂😂😂
Lolol, I’ll leave that to your imagination, but yes, it as red ;). You may now go to the pub! ;)
Omg this comment killed me! 😂👙
@@EPSGplayer😂😂😂
@@UKAbandonedMineExplores I couldn’t Unsee it after that 😂🥵
Yous guys are absolutely mad 😂
Thankyou, we take that as an compliment, glad you enjoyed :)
@@UKAbandonedMineExplores enjoy all your videos, amazes me how many mines there are and how old. Loads of history
@@bushmandan8645Thanks, still many to see :)
Being mad is good lol. It helps us to get through all the crappie stuff that we have to endure these days of stressful stuff thrown at us around every corner of our lives
😂😂

L❤ve the mine l❤ve you guys HATE the SPIDERS! 😱🕷🕸
Lol, thanks Carol. You have to love spiders, they are very friendly, they just want to give you a cuddle when you enter the mine! ;)
