You will love it. One of the best trips we have ever taken. Viking does a top notch job of taking care of their passengers and the tours and stops were beautiful. Can’t wait to do another one. Have fun.
Is viking able to bypass lines at all? Did they deliver you to Versailles? I am looking at the price and wondering what the difference is in having the add on or doing the same ourselves. Are you able to be more specific to help us?
You could arrange a tour outside of Viking, however, one of the best things about Viking is that they hold your hand from beginning to end. They make certain you are taken care of and will get you to and from Versailles on a nice tour bus. It did seem they had a special entrance that they and other larger tour groups utilized. You could save a little money booking on your own, but the peace of mind knowing that you will be taken care of is worth the extra charge. One of the other things Viking has is the audio headphones so their tour guides are speaking just you verses all the other people. That will become your best friend with any and all of the Viking managed excursions. We were with 3 other couples. My wife and I did not do the alps excursion. Instead we boarded the boat while the others went on the alps tour and met back up with us just up river from Basel. We did most of the provided excursions, which were fine. Very informative. The only other excursion we did, other than Versailles, was Eltz Castle. It was pretty neat, but we couldn’t go into the actual castle. I probably wouldn’t do that one if I did it again. There was another castle that was included on the tour that you could go in and it was remarkably beautiful. We did our own “Paris at night”. That is the last night before departing to airport so we just walked up two blocks and enjoyed a fantastic view of the Eiffel tower. That is what you saw at the end of our video. And we ate at a little cafe of our choice close enough to the hotel. We packed our bags and got ready for a very early bus ride to the airport. Viking representatives help us all the way to and through Charles De Gaul airport. I can’t say enough about how well Viking takes care of you. I would get the transfers to and from airport. They greet you and make certain all the guess work is taken care of. Wonderful trip.
We did have the Paris add on. It was nice. We did have plenty of free time in Paris to walk around. We walked up 2 blocks from our hotel and had a wonderful view of the Eiffel tower at night, as you saw in the video. Wait till a certain hour and it starts sparkling. We couldn’t get in the Louvre because it was closed on the day we were there. We chose not to get inline for the Eiffel tower because there was so many things to see. Versailles was awesome and worth the trip. Viking does an awesome job. You will love the trip. Worth every penny.
We cruised from April 14-April 26 We enjoyed the cruise but would recommend going a bout a month later. The weather was still a bit cold during this time. We had a great time, but a few weeks later would have possibly be better.

Thank you for your video. Did you have the paris supplement add on? Were you able to get into the eifel tower or the Louvre?
