    Great video Jan. Why a mono cruiser should be less comfortable at anchor than a performance cruiser or racer makes little sense though.
    Guess you are going with the Nautitech 44. In that case its not overlapping genoa but selftacking jib right?
    All the best

      Hey, thanks a lot for your comment!
      I sailed on numerous monos and cats and I always felt much more comfortable on cats at anchor and this for multiple reasons:
      When waves or swell come from the side, monos tend to rock more than cats, Also on cats you have much more space to walk around, some nice trampolines to relax in. If you have a flybridge or skylounge, you have a great view up there as well. We have space to hang up and sleep in hammocks. Another benefit is, that the main living area is all up above with a good visibility all around through the anchorage. For the kids it was great to jump off the coachroof and when the sun is burning we were swimming between the hulls. Also usually cats have a shallower draft, so you can get closer to shore. In the evening, it is easy to lift up the dinghy and to lock it in place.
      Well, This sounds really biassed,.. I also love to be at anchor on a Mono and I also really enjoy that, so it sounds more drastic than i mean it.
      And we did Not go for a Nautitech, but another performance cat with aft helms. ;-) Length waterline: 44 ft, LoA: 52 ft,..
      Also we have an overlapping genoa plus a huge code 0. I can't wait to hoist the sails!

      @@janwantstosail I agree with your cats vs mono argument at anchor. But your charts showed +es on racers and performance cruisers.
      Outremer?!

      @@user-sj2nr2jh1u In my eyes this also applies to performance cats/racers. No skylounge/flybridge though and less comfortable seating. But trampolin is great there as well.
      No Outremer. 😞 We were searching for an Outremer 49 but coldn't find one on sale. We checked the Outremer 45 but this one was really, really small for us. I am just 1,80m tall and I hit my head in the cabins,.. The Outremer 51 also is surprisingly small (and already financially out of range) and the Outremer 55 is far out of reach already.

      @@hamkahamid2044 no, also no HH. We have no raised helm, but helms at the aft of either hull. Although I like them a lot,..

    Could you please share what kind of dishwasher you chose? Thank you🙏

      Actually I dont know (yet), what type of dishwasher it is, but I will know soon. Only I know, it is a "regular" slim line machine as it is used in house kitchens.

    For more information about the yachts that I refer to, check the links in the video description.
    Let me know, what you think. Am I right with my conclusions?

    I would never buy a new boat. 5-10 year in good shape seems to be the sweet spot.

      @janwantstosail  5 місяців тому

      Hey @Mordalo, I had the same opinion until I really started searching for the yachts and I started negotiations. Many "affordable" charter yachts, the btter ones were really expensive and in the same price range of new yachts that even come with warranty. I think the market is already changing and soon your conclusion will be right (again).

      @Mordalo 5 місяців тому +1

      @@janwantstosail Actually, my reasoning was more about problem shake out than anything else. Warranty is pretty much meaningless when I am 6K miles from where I purchased it., or dealer. 😉😉

      @janwantstosail  5 місяців тому

      @@Mordalo agree, also that was my original reasoning. Now we bought a yacht with an already higher hull number with already some upgrades/improvements. Mulan is being built by one of the biggest yachtbuilders in the world with bases everywhere. We agreed to have a full yacht check in Las Palmas and then again in Grenada. If something warranty related happens on the way, I send a message what is broken and they try to get the stuff to the next base again and fix it there. Before we take off, we also will do some days/weeks of sea trials. All that made me more confident, that we can try this tour with a new yacht.
