Part 22: • Evander Holyfield Goes...
    --------
Evander Holyfield commented on his experience of unifying the WBA and IBF belts, and expressed his determination to become undisputed once more. Holyfield also addressed criticisms about his age diminishing his skills during his prime, asserting that he continued fighting like a heavyweight despite being questioned by critics. Speaking about his draw with Lewis in 1999, Holyfield claimed that he didn't feel Lewis did enough to win. He reflected on the fact that he was put in an awkward situation to fight after Lewis busted his eardrum in the second round.

Lennox Lewis is overlooked by casual fans because he fought for Canada in the Olympics, winning gold from Riddick Bowe and fought under the English flag. He was also fighting in one of the best eras of heavyweight boxing under the shadows of Tyson and Holyfield.

Yes, apples for apples when it comes to losing to absolute nobodies in the most humiliating way imaginable, ducking ancient Larry & George, pricing himself outa a title fight he knew he couldn't win vs Bowe even though he was offered his record high payday, suing fighters & promoters in court for step aside money in favour of accepting a record pay day vs Mike Tyson in a title fight, & generally hiding n cowering until all the other credible champions had fought each other & became faded & jaded, there genuinely is nobody who can compare to Lewis. I lose a lot of respect for Holyfield for a few reasons:
    1) not admitting that he lost to Lewis in their first fight. Yes Lewis was a bit tentative, and wasn't making a big enough effort to KO Holyfield, but he STILL outboxed him for the most part and should have got the decision. It was unanimous in ALL of the Boxing community said that Lewis won by at least 3-4 points. He has a complete lack of honour when it comes to this fight. Just be real and admit what everyone saw. Its widely regarded as one of the biggest robberies ever.
    2) Also he wasn't "The Champ" as he claims in that fight at 2:51. He held the WBA & IBF belts. Lewis held the WBC belt and the Lineal World Title. Lack of respect to Lennox by declaring himself "The Champ".
    3) The "Evan Fields" alleged steriod use story, which looks suspicious.
    4) I certainly don't look on Evander as a 4 time Champion. 3 at best. The fourth one was just a piece of the title robbed from Lewis in a court room, which he then "won" from John Ruiz. Holyfield rides on the back of this "Only 4 time World Heavyweight Champion", which is nothing more than a fallacy.
    5) He also projects himself as this deeply religious model Christian god fearing man .... yet he has 11 kids with 6 women. Bottom line. Yes Holyfield WAS a really good fighter, but there are a few things out there that make me question Holyfield's character, public image and his accomplishments.
Maybe I am wrong, or maybe he is Lance Armstrong 2. Nice guy to camera. Behind the scenes? A few people have stories about Holyfield when the camera's are not there.

..... There's one for you to get your teeth into. You should hear the full story about how he treated Layfield and Simmons. The information is all out there. Btw address my points above as well. All the information is all right there in front of you man. Take Evander's nuts out of your mouth, get off your knees and go do some digging.

If you look at fighters, throughout history, their performance drops off significantly when they reach their 35th birthday. I don't just fighters negatively on their performance, after 35. If they do well in later fights, they get extra credit for it. Holyfield was no different. 34-3 before 35. 10-7-2 after.
Lewis was younger, under 35, for both Holyfield fights.

I thought Lewis won the first bout 7-5 but lost the second by the same score. Considering how much trouble he had with a faded Holyfield, I can't imagine Lennox would have fared well against a prime Holyfield. Lewis is in the Top 10 of all time but considering he only beat one great fighter in their prime (Vitaly) and missed fighting most of the elite fighters when he was both a contender/titilist in the 90s and as a unified champ in the 00s, I can't imagine how anyone could place him in the top 3. He likely wasn't even the best heavyweight of the 00s considering Wladimir had a far more successful run as unified champion than Lewis did.

He says he knows he beat Lewis in the 2nd fight, problem is I have an interview of Hoyfield in another interview saying he knew deep down he could never beat Lewis, it was more about not giving up. I find that sad because it tells me he really is suffering.

I don't think he won, but it was much more competitive. Also I think Holyfield had the better moments in the rematch, did more damage. However Lewis workrate was much more consistent where Holyfield fought in spurts

@BrownBomber92181 without a doubt Holyfield beats Lewis in his prime. He was old when he fought Lewis.

Evander Holyfield has cognitively diminished to the point where he’s slurring. It’s unfortunate that such a great man has become an incurable victim of his own sports. But that has become a motif in the history of boxing
