To make the gravy brown my mom always stirred her flour around till it browned. It adds a lot of flavor.

Up north here in mass, my meme did this with ground beef. She also let the rue get dark by dry cooking the flour first, till it was a briwn color, then added the fat from browning the ground beef. Then added the ground beef back in. It was sooo good. ❤

This reminds me of the biggest argument I remember my parents ever having 😂😂😂. My mom insisted a rue was fat and flour browned, my dad knew it could just be browned flour.......long story short...mom never argued again with someone raised by depression era raised parents! He made a batch of the best gravy EVER by browning dry flour in a well seasoned cast iron skillet 😋. Yummo.....his gravy was delicious! (Don't tell my mom!!!) 😂😂😂

Hi, Granny! Just waned to share that my Granny used 1 can evaporated milk and the same can of water to make her gravy. Also, she made it with different meats, such as bacon, ham lunchmeat, ground beef, even bologna on a rare occasion. Good stuff!

I’ve never made sausage gravy in my 71 years, but it sure looks good. I haven’t found a really good gluten free sausage yet, so once I find that, my next plan will be to make this, using gluten free flour to thicken. Thanks so much for the demonstration!

UA-cam switched me out 😮. The Nerve 😅lol, had a friend in 6th grade mentioned how his grandma made him chocolate gravy.. I' m from Indiana and L' be always wondered what you would eat that on😊 Also, maybe she used milnot to make her gravy with... a lot of people use it to make gravy, In Indiana a lot of people made chopped beef gravy, I never, and white gravy which I was told was called sawmill down here,😊

I always freeze my leftover gravy. To use after frozen, thaw in the fridge, place gravy in saucepan, heat on low slowly, add milk or water if it needs to be thinned slightly. Using a whisk to take out any lumps that are from freezing. Good as fresh.

If u want brown gravy get a bottle of kitchen bouquet and after you add the milk add a few drops of the kitchen bouquet. A bottle lasts forever. It has no taste and browns any gravy

I am the same as you. I make a casserole for instance that calls for a pound of ground beef, and I put a half pound or even a quarter pound. I used to eat plant based and learned where protein is in a plant based diet. So I really find I primarily , unless having bbq or a good steak, use meat as seasoning any more. As a matter of fact due to the increasing cost considering budgeting for one meat based a week instead of trying to eat it most days. I am single. And trying to keep my weekly grocery budget under 25 dollars a week. Really even then, hoping not to spend all that. And I did learn how to make tasty plant based food without buying all the trendy vegetarian products in the store. And my labs when I ate that way were great. So? In theory if I go to the half priced bin, where our local grocer marks things down that will expire in two or three days, take it home and freeze it into weekly portions, I should not need to buy any sort of animal product other than one package a month. Of course, we all like a little variety. Do. We shall see how it goes.

Use an S shaped potato masher to break up your meat. Meat doesn't stick to it like the meat masters and works better.

I don't like the sweet taste with just milk. I add about a 2 3rds cup of water. Wonderful taste. So if your liquid is 2 cups milk, just add 1 and 1 third milk and 2 thirds water
