      I’m very late to reply but there’s a major difference between college and professional football and that’s the fact that one’s a full career and the other is not. NFL players get payed and college doesn’t. It’s also slightly more important to protect the college players more as most of them don’t play professionally and do other careers instead. Playing professional is more of a career and as such it has more risks to playing.

    Here is an idea. For the team whose player committed the targeting and gets ejected from the game, how about that teams defense loses that position for the rest of the game. In other words, that defense plays the rest of the game with 10 players instead of 11. I would bet that after one or two times, the occurrence of targeting would go down greatly.

    #5 from the MIZZOU-OKST clip should’ve been thrown out and suspended for the next game. Not only did he commit a targeting foul (which is auto ejection anyways), he also stood over him which is SUPPOSED TO BE “unsportsmanlike conduct”. So basically he committed two UC penalties.

    I see a lot of "football" players who have bad technique. Either the coaches are not teaching them how to tackle properly or these players are not as tough as they think they are. I see so many players with the improper tackling technique who pat themselves on the back after they perform an illegal hit. VERY WEAK!

    So not being an American I'm not used to helmets on football players,, in Australia our 3 codes of football,, the AFL,, NRL AND NRU,, they don't wear helmets,, and they don't do this targetting stuff,, it seems to me that having helmets allows players to use it as a weapon regardless of the risks,, yes in our 3 games you get what we call high tackles where you make contact with the head during a tackle but it's nothing like what you see in NFL,, don't get me wrong I understand why they were the helmets but when you see targeting so often it kinda negates the safety of the helmet

  • @alfonso.antonio
    @alfonso.antonio 2 роки тому

    mmmmm Some of this plays are NOT targeting, the first one as example, If the QB is not going to throw the ball in a pass and start running and crosses the scrimmage line he becames a runner and there´s not targeting on a runner (he knows that is going to be hit and hit hard) and is prepared for that. it could be illegal use of helmet yes maybe, but targeting? my opinion.

    First one was kinda bs, he was finishing a tackle on a qb that decided not to slide but also has no idea how to prepare his body for a hit. No targeting there, the qb shouldve slid or maybe not drop his head towards the person about to slam into him

    I played high school and college football. These are intentional. You're always aware of where your head is at. This has no place in the game.

    At 0:03. Quarterback is a runner who did not give himself up. NOT targeting. They can slide if they don't want to get hit.

      Yeah but he was already going down and you don't lean with your head to make a tackle, he deserved to get ejected, not the QBs fault.

    if it's 1 time I can see heat of the moment or accidentally but if a player has multiple flags then they should be done 4 life.i played in high school and the coach was fierce about deliberately hurting other players you tried it your were done,it didn't matter freshman game 1 or senior game 36.

    If face masks were removed would this still be as big of an issue? No one would lead with their face

    • @griffinfaulkner3514
      @griffinfaulkner3514 5 років тому +1

      It'd still be an issue, because they're not leading with their face. They're making contact on the crown (top) of the helmet, which is dramatically more likely to cause career-ending injuries. If they remove the facemask, it just means you're going to eat a cleat, or worse, another helmet. Removing the facemask does nothing to solve the problem.
