    I started with the UMX Pitts. Liked it so much I moved up to the EFlite 850mm on 4S 2200. This might be my next size!

    I maidened my Pitts today. I ditched the reflex gyro and went with an AR630, Zoar 16X8, Metal gear servos, stock esc, battery mod (used a foam block). No trim needed 10mph wind and flew like a dream with 4000 mah 6S with timer set to 7 minutes. CG was perfect. Very happy with this plane.

    What an incredible plane and nice flight guys. When you put one in the hanger that is there for the long haul spending the extra to make it that much better and give you more confidence it is worth it.

    I also upgraded my linkage to a bolt and nut instead of the FMS self tapping screws. I also changed all the clevises.

      This sounds like a needed upgrade. Didn't care for the self tap screws either.

      Every little improvement WILL definitely help in the long run.
      Soon HH will be charging $400+ on this 1. My 1st 1 was $300. $360 now. My 1st extra 300 was $300, now $400🤷‍♂️
      Rc flying is NOT a 'poor man's hobby' anymore

    I have the avion 100 amp esc, 550 kv motor from the 2000mm beaver and apc 15 x 10 prop. Much better. Xoar prop has to much mass and effects the plane when on/off throttle. My did 97mph in a dive and 88mph flat and level on gps. It will hover as long as you want. Love this plane!

      Ahh I have the same set up but I'm running mine on 7s. Just wasn't keen on the stock set up either

    I put an oversized G25 motor into my Dynam Pitts 12 and it turned it into an acrobatic monster :)

  • @mattmiller7494
    @mattmiller7494 Рік тому +1

    Now that you have an Avian 100 amp speed control you should upgrade the motor to a 550 kv and use the Xoar 16x8 propeller. The faster this plane flies the better it flies and that prop/motor combo makes this plane fly fantastic and you still get 8-10 minutes of flight with a 6S 7000 from Spektrum. Beware of that battery tray though, it will bite you, it will unlock during high G maneuvers and make this plane so tail heavy that you’ll be lucky if you get it down in one piece. Been there done that and it’s not fun.

    I have to change every single servo also. I'm grateful I still have it and not it's not in a junk yard. So, obviously the stock servos suck

      I truly believe a pre-flight check saved ours. We went out for an second day, second flight, off camera (for fun) and found the left aileron servo stripping before we took off.

    I just finished doing the exact same mods to mine… except the prop is a 16x8 Xoar. During preflight yesterday (12/2/23), I discovered one aileron servo with a gear issue - partially stripped. Brand new, too; replacement arrives Wednesday.

    • @dsrcplanes
      @dsrcplanes  9 місяців тому

      We replaced servos after the second flight. same issues, stripped plastic gears. It was not worth risking a crash. The plane is good out of the box with exception of the servos. The ESC & Prop mods are just icing on the cake!!

    I think a 16x10 is too much prop for the stock motor. I'm sure it made it draw much more than 50 amps. With the stock 15x9 prop, mine would barely do one full vertical roll. I replaced it with a Xoar 16x8 PJN and it flew much better. I did eventually strip the plastic gears in one of the aileron servos in the air and just barely saved it from crashing. I now have metal gear servos in it. I get about 5 minutes of flight time with a 4000mAh-6S battery. This Pitts is easier to take off and land than any other Pitts that I've flown. But it doesn't like top rudder in knife edge at all. It pitches toward the belly and no amount of mixing will fix it. You have to do some of that pilot "stuff"..

    No avian 480kv motor?🤯 I did the same swaps, but changed to avian 480kv, 6s motor. UNlimited/insanely fast, vertical!

      Maidened mine yesterday. Using a 17x8 xoar wood propeller.
      Seen a few use the 2m beaver motor. 50a esc just isn't enuf. The esc & motor are the same (eflite vs fms, BUT) as what's in the eflite extra 300. Discovered that by accident when swapping the esc out in both.

      We'll keep flying and as comfort level increases we may decide we want a little more power. So a Motor change is not out of the question.

    So what you are paying for this plane is junk! Having to replace everything makes it an expensive mistake!

    • @makkebull
      @makkebull 4 місяці тому

      That´s absolutely right!The only right thing to do with FMS models is throwing everything out;motor,servo´s and ESC and at the end you have an expensive plane but otherwise sooner or later you will crash it if you keep the original junk they put in.
