WOW! So surprising that you guys actually picked this game up to do a recent 'how to'! I was looking about two months ago and was intimidated by the number of old rules video. Super excited to see this and now, most likely will get this to the table tomorrow. Thanks! :)

Thanks for the explanation. Not sure though why you didn't go through the set up, as it is pretty straightforward, but a strategically important part of the game. Essentially you are each time choosing provinces from 2 face up or a blind draw from the deck to put your initial army groups on. You need to consider getting a balance of resources from your provinces (money, rice and building space) and also strategic position. Then also you have to prime the tower by pouring in 7 cubes from each player, and 10(!) farmer armies (any that fall out at this stage return to the supply, unlike in the rest of the game).
Its important to emphasize (which might confuse some by the way you did it) that ALL cubes in the tray (even those not involved in the combat) are thrown into the tower for each battle. And also probably just a reminder at the end that rice totals can be reduced by the event cards, so you may well need more than you think to avoid revolts!

Nice explanation of the rules, E! I am currently waiting for my upgraded Kickstarter components for this game. It looks like they are going to make the game pop a little more.
