Your take on the ergonomics for new guitars is spot on. I’m a disabled veteran, and I had commissioned a chambered body for a partscaster build to meet my needs. I have some updates for version 2.0, and it includes reducing the amount of wood behind the bridge that pretty much does nothing but add mass, so the bridge is closer to the strap button (the way a P-Bass looks). This smaller body, along with with contours and chambering, reduces weight (for the spine injury) and allows me to hold the guitar closer to a classical style for ergonomic playing (which helps with my bad left rotator cuff). And since I used a quality 24.75” neck and hardware, I have a great sounding guitar under 6 lbs. I’m shooting for 5.5 lbs for my next version.
Taylor t5?
You are a man of uncommon integrity - a perfect antidote to influencer culture - and a thoroughly engaging listen. I've finally found a guitar pod as eminently listenable as KYG. Subbed.
Just get you a Merida Poison Acoustic Electric and forget about all the high priced guitars. I am over 70 now and have been playing for 57 years. I have owned every damned high end guitar at one time or the other. About six months ago i saw a beautiful guitar on Ebay of all places and just pulled the trigger. I am so happy i did too. For less than a third of a Martin D45 i am convinced i have finally found the perfect guitar (at least for me) . It is the guitar that made me change my mind about China made guitars. My 1200 dollar Merida Poison Extrema is maybe the best guitar i have ever owned, and this is after owning several Gibson L5'S, Two Gibson ES-295 real vintage fifties models, several Country Gentlemen, a 57 Strat, a 72 Gibson LP Goldtop and hundreds more. At one time i had over 200 of the best guitars ever made. I had to sell them to pay for medical problems . I only have a couple good guitars now and a bunch of decent low to mid range guitars. I bought a huge building back before getting hurt😇 and ordered two tractor trailers full of new guitars and accessories, but had a bad accident and sold the building and got rid of all the cheap guitars either on Ebay or CL. Eventually i sold almost all my collection as well. I know i am rambling, but hell, i am over 70! My advice is take care of yourself first and buy some damned insurance on yourself and your guitars! Oh, and don't drive crazy and don't fall off buildings. Thank you for your video too.
I am seriously interested in purchasing a Martin D 18. I’m wondering whether I should look at the sinker mahogany or just go with a standard series and if the sinker is worth the additional money.
Any thoughts on the PRS Acoustic guitars?
The only good Takemine I’ve ever played was a 1970 Martin lawsuit era guitar and it might have been the best acoustic I’ve ever played. Much better than any actual Martin I’ve ever had or played.
Just picked up a 2020 EF360S-TT and I am absolutely blown away by it and have not even plugged it in yet. My father has many Martin's including a D28 and D35 but this Takamine will easily keep up with it. It's as close as I could find to anything sounding like a D28. Obviously I could not afford a D28 but I would recommend this Takamine to anyone. You have to hear it to believe it. But Jeremy is correct you must stay away from the ones built in China and stick with one's built in Japan
Been a Strat guy for most of my 60+ years. Played many many Strats over the decades, and now the Silver Sky is hands down one of the best guitars…much less Strats…that I have played. Plus, PRS is consistent in their quality. Much more than Fender is doing now. The pickups are fantastic sounding as well, so much so I wish they would sell them separately. As far as price, it’s actually cheaper than most other Core PRS. Love the nitro finish too. Anyway, just my subjective opinion, like everyone else here, including you.😄
Jeremy I have a question about Gibson zero electrics. They have pelham blue zero firebirds for under a grand. Why are they so cheap? Are they really that awful?
Here are my ten guitars that are worth it,
Ok… So I used to think Takamine guitars, at least the modern ones with the snakehead headstocks are over rated and acoustically sound boring. BUT they are reliable gigging guitars for stage acts. You really will see them plugged in on some of the biggest stages. But we do need to bring up Glen Hansard and his mighty Takamine that sounds so incredible! Then last month I got a nice but BEAT to crap Takamine Japanese built cedar top dread that seriously blows me away with how good it sounds. Seriously, it shocked me. It also came at a great big discount because of all the playwear.
I bought a 25 year old Tak and changed pickups to LR Baggs. It sounds Amazing plugged in.
Baxendale is the Xbrace conversion guy. I actually have an all mahogany 59 LGO in a shop getting converted at the moment, I'm so looking forward to playing it and hearing the difference.
If I recall correctly, when Joe Knagg's was with PRS, his Chesapeake had 6 on a side tuners.
Have you tried a Henriksen BUD?
great stuff as usual! keep it up :D
Any of Fenders acoustic guitars. I'm sure there are a few but I have never held one... sorry
Jeremy, I have an 80's Martin D28. What, if any, pickup would you recommend?
Glen Hansard sounded great on his takamine NP15 (now P3D)
