How is the Earth Heated? // Global Energy Balance

🌞 You might think the sun heats up the Earth by heating the air around us BUT there is a bit more complexity to this.
The process starts with the sun, yes. However, it is actually the heat re-emitted by the land and oceans that heat up the Earth. 🌍
This video also expands on the Global Energy Balance/Budget. How much solar radiation reaches the atmosphere? How much is absorbed by the land? How much is lost to outer space? All these questions are answered in the video through the use of a simple diagram.📈
Our atmosphere contains Greenhouse gases which trap this radiated heat and keeps our atmosphere warm. This will be explored in a future video.📹
