  • For the last few years Eric and I have wanted to go to #YonFamilyFarms in Ridge Spring, South Carolina. They have 2 #cattlesales each year. One is in the spring and one is in the fall. Eric and I were able to load up this year and make it to their spring sale.
#Herdbulls are vital to any cattle operation. We try to keep young, healthy bulls at all times to make sure all our cows are being bred. We were fortunate enough to pick up 2 Angus bulls from the Yon sale. One of them we will use on some heifers, and the other we will put with some cows.
All in all we had a great day. The Yon Family has a beautiful place, and we hope to make it back there soon!

You should have told me y’all were going I would have hopped in with ya. I used to beef the Area Sales Manager for Genex in the southeast. So I know the Yons and a couple others in these parts. Lol. Swamp Fox is a Genex bull. Shouldn’t be disappointed I don’t think. The Yons have a good program. Very active within the angus breed. Next time you come close to this way let me know. I highly recommend Ingrams Angus as well. Little different breeding program than Yons but very good cattle!!

I’ll keep you updated on our next sales we go to! We enjoyed going to Yon. They have a nice operation. Looking forward to adding some of their genetics to our herd. I’ve heard good things about Ingram Angus. Hope to go see them one day also.

If any of their bulls produce ww at 730 pounds Lmk. I don't have registered black Angus only commercial. I do have plenty of registered charolai. So tame you can hug. I have a bull im raising at the moment that is a trait leader. Pretty sure he'll carry 7 traits over and wean weight, 926 pounds! Ill be taking him to rei to store a lot of his sperm in a year. I was proud of his mommy. Now there's this stud muffin about to run my registered heard.
I also have charolai lbw bulls for heifers. When I say that. It trips a lot of ppl out. This will too. My main heifer bull is actually charolai and has been used on over 80 Angus heifers so far. Not 1 needed pulled. 😁 that's rare. But there are charolai bulls out their like that.

I do have a registered black Angus lbw heifer bull. No assist on him but Ive only had him for 19 months. Pretty sure I wobt have to. If I do its cause of the heifers calving ease.

I’ll let you know what results we get. Sounds like you’ve got some dang good genetics in your herd! I haven’t ever dealt with the Charolais cattle.
