It is an adjustment to downsize and move into a smaller place, Terri and Keith. But, it wasn't as bad as you might think. My biggest reasoning was the yard work and maintenance, being gone 7 months a year. Now with the condo that's dramatically down and when we're gone I don't even think of it. In essence I still pay for it with the HOA fees. But they're quite reasonable and all I have to do is sit out on the balcony and wave at the maintenance men! 😁😁
I just found your channel, we have something in common with you, we have special needs children, I'm 55 and looking forward to retirement some day, but we have to realize that the kids will still be living with and being supported by us as well
We moved from a split level to a ranch. We can still handle stairs but if you live long enough the time will come when you can't. Thanks so much for your always interesting videos.
Downsizing has been really difficult on our parents. We have had to convince them of the necessity. So we already got started at our house. We can't keep it all and would rather not deal with it when we are retired. So we are getting a headstart. Thanks for sharing this video!

Lots of great information you guys are amazing..my question I'm all about downsizing..when you finally get that 5 bedroom home and 10 acres of beauty.. all paid for .downsizing would be how do you go from this to what the prices are now .sounds like more than I can chew..I'm not getting any younger..pros and cons..should of been in my youth .I'm all about modest..lol
As long as you can manage your house and property that is all paid for we say stay….especially with today’s housing costs. If housing costs happen to come way down…then would be the time to think about possibly downsizing. Tough decisions as we age for sure
@@RetiredLovingIt funny story is when we moved in our house many, many moons ago lol. The older couple told us they were moving because of the stairs We chuckled because we were young and full of energy. Now fast forward almost 30 years later we're having that same problem with the stairs lol.
When is the right time to downsize. We downsized at the age of 60. We were fit enough to pack, paint unpack ect. We were fit and healthy enough to make new friends in our new environment. We now have an 3 bedroom apartment. A man-cave, a woman-cave and our more than spacious master bedroom. The decluttering was hard but we now find we are more efficient and less inclined to gather new things and create more clutter. We have just been busy emptying mother in law's home- she lived there 69 years. Ma is now in a unit and receives care as she is wheelchair bound. She admits- having not taken advice to downsize and declutter gave us a nightmarish task to complete. It hurts leaving one's previous life behind, but only for a short time as you are busy setting up a new life. It brings excitement and renewed enthusiasm for the adventure. So don't wait too long is my advice. Do it while fit and healthy. This is my vision and experience. Have a great week. Greetings from Australia. 👌😎🙋♀🦘
