I love this book and I'm a bit precious about it, probably the most of any book I own at the moment.. it was hard to get and one that I had major struggles in shipping with. I haven't colored in it yet.. I feel like I'm still working on getting my skills back to do it justice and playing with different pencils. If you decide to feel posh one day what you are doing would be considered a "variegated wash".. which is the fancy arty way of saying "splodgy on purpose". I used to have a huge collection of Alice in Wonderland stuff before the hurricane took everything.. like half a room full. I have no idea how much money invested over about 30 years. Original hand drawn art I commissioned at Disney World, numbered collectibles, movie posters, a limited edition print of the stamp commissioned by the US postal service back in the early 2000's, handmade items (several made by my daughter which I cherished even more), etc. Countless little things, cups, teapots, bags, buttons, bits, and bobs. An entire shelf of handmade ceramic and blown glass mushrooms and snails. It was my "thing", I was always on the lookout for another piece to collect, and people who knew me gifted me items. It was all displayed in my art studio. All gone. I don't collect anything anymore, there just doesn't seem to be a point.
It is unlikely I will feel posh (lol!!) but 'variegated wash' is a great term, thank you! Wow, I can understand why the book is so precious, when you obviously have such a great love for Alice in Wonderland.
Thank you. The pastel can transfer if it is put on thickly or if you use a dark colour but it does erase with a normal pencils eraser. Therefore, I tend to not worry too much with fixative unless I use lots of pastel or a dark colour or I really want to preserve the picture on the facing page. You can just put some paper between the pages to prevent the transfer if you have no fixative.
This is so great!🤩 I love the contrast of the black against the yellow background. Lovely blending too!!🎨❤️
thank you

Lovely! (10 shillings and 6 pence) about 52p now!!, does the pastel transfer when the book is closed?
