I love that the visuals goes with how they sing the song for example they use a old Korean pronunciations, dialect, vocabulary and the whole song is in korean, it's really a traditional concept, it's like an OST for a historical war drama
Hwaa in korean is angry but in this song it's used as fire. Hwa in chinese is flower.

I used to leave in Greece and I came back to my country the last 3 years! Guess what still struggling with my language and I still have the Greek accent! You yourself maybe is good with languages but Korean is a whole different language. From Chinese more nasal language to a lot harsher language like Korean is makes the process really hard and it’s even harder when you’re not good with learning languages. When she’s talking you can say she is a foreigner. For us it’s okey but for some Koreans is not acceptable! In the bsides she’s killing it. At least check that out...

She was exceptionally dreamy in this album. Like, listen to Dahlia. Color coded video has the 2nd chorus listed as Soojin, but it's so clearly Shuhua. Her voice blew my mind, and I need a comeback like that and have it center Shuhua and Minnie's vocals.

The story of hwaa is connected to hann. it's actually a trilogy story-wise as it start off with hann (alone) > han (alone in winter)which is part of the iburn album > hwaa and it's the conclusion of the story which is why people may find it abrupt as soon as it ends.

@@Jakeschwag I actually think that an sparse arrangement of the backing in songs is kind of a soyeon signature, more literally whats happening is she uses really low pitched bass with short notes and it kind of sounds "drum" like and then drum samples with a lot of very high pitched overtones, and then other pitched instruments in a high register leaving the middle sounding very open and allowing for the texture of voices to come through. knowing how much soyeon knows and cares about the sound of the individual g idle members, it feels like something she would do on purpose.
check out other songs and you will hear this pattern and I personally love it. I think its the most obvious in the choruses of dumdi dumdi and omg and a really cool similarity between those very different songs.
so when a lot of people find her music "lacking somehow" its generally because she uses very light musical textures to try and complement the voices. which is very different from Minnie's thicker style

I wasn't a fan of female kpop groups. I absolutely did not like Twice, Red Velvet and Blackpink. But I fell in love with (G)I-DLE . They're awesome, not like the silly cute Twice that's annoying. And they don't sell cheap pathos like Blackpink. They are individual, and it's wondertull. And Minnie is just my eternal love💜💜💜

I realize this is Kpop fan heresy, but you should really check out the English version of this song. I think they did a fantastic job with it. It's a touch different, but I think they did that because English & Korean are such different languages.

I think it's intentional esp soyeon said the hwaa part is suppose to be a sound of fire, so I guess she wanted that part to be focus on without much lyrics, sometimes simplicity the best way hoho and proven this song did well on charts and the fact they went for traditional/ancient sound instead of current poppy/edm trend, guess simple much more fitting :)

I'm korean. Hwaa 화 means fire(burn), flower, anger in Korean. Fire and flower has HAN character (In Korea and japan we call HAN, KAN rather than Chinese. It is long story. I need to talk whole North eastern Asian history, if I want to tell full story), but anger has only korean letter.
