All lies. Apartment occupancy is at an ALL TIME LOW in NYC. It's almost at a 50% VACANCY, the slumlords and the corporations have just jacked the rent too high for anyone to afford. Apartments are LITERALLY sitting on the market with no takers.
They keep talking about NYC, but it’s the same in NJ. Absolutely insane rent/housing prices. The issue is even being farther away from the city, the rent is pretty much like >$2000 for 1 bed and > $3000 for 2 bed. I dunno what’s going to happen, unless the government brings in some regulations
I don't think people understand that there is no affordable housing anywhere right now and we have let in a couple million people who will not get a living wage job or possibly a job at all. This will be a major disaster when there is no more money or support for them and they are put out of the shelters.
This is because Ny'ers moved to NJ in DROVES during and after Covid and landlords saw this and jacked the prices up. There are TONS of EMPTY apartments in NJ now because of this. I am in the process of moving there and there is a glut to chose from.
Wrong, if they find an apartment they get free rent for 3 yrs or until they are financially stable. Many landlords in nyc refuse to rent to them, and the ones who are, are making a fortune! @@Emmy-J
If you are struggling never have kids yet. If you are struggling do not get married. Have a lot of money then have kids. Have a lot of money then get married.
I feel this family’s pain. The rent is too high. The affordable housing is going to people who have guarentors. It’s like the city has waged a war on families in nyc. They only want to rent to young single people playing the roomate game.
Stop having kids you can’t afford to take care of. We know migrants are being cared for better than our legal residents/citizens but at what point do you accept responsibly for your actions. These children will never be able to have a good quality life because of their parents.
The sad reality is that companies by a large portions of the vacant homes/apartments only to keep them empty to increase value, there is also AirBnB that removes another big portion of homes from the market. There`s a law in Brazil (of all places) that forces homes that have been empty for 3yrs+ to be put back into the market or run the risk of fines and foreclosures.
There is no personal responsibility here. No reason to have 4 children if you can't afford1. The public shouldn't have to pay for *your* irresponsibility!
Inherent right? First line in the bible is be fruitful and multiply. No where in the Bible does it say show me your income statement before you have a family. No one is asking to live wealthy with or without 4 chikdren. They are asking for modest affordable housing. A better way to think of this is how will jobs get done in the City if only the rich people can afford to live there? Rich people arent going to be janitors or maids or doormen or elevator operators or coffee baristas or preschool teachers or work in delis, restaurants, cafes, or any place. Those jobs are for the non-wealthy and if they dont have a place to live they wont do the job which lowers the quality of life in that city and every city.
This is happening in LA too. The biggest reason is people constantly moving to these large cities from much smaller cities and towns from states that have much less to offer. So as long as there isn't a way to stop people from moving to NYC or LA, these cities are constantly behind the 8 ball trying to catch-up. Same is true with the homeless population the majority of homeless in both cities are not from the area.
No even moves to those cities anymore the main cities gaining net migration from other states are cities like Dallas Phoenix Charlotte Miami Tampa Atlanta Nashville Seattle Denver etc.
Damn I knew gentrification was gonna hit the Bronx. Once they went into Harlem & BK it was just a matter of time. Gentrification is modern day colonization.

Lmao yeah cause they were doing so great before them. Look at Hazleton, local racists like yourself complain about them but that town and so many others have become completely revitalized. Like wow, Hazleton was totally ruined since before it was such a great empty jobless soulless aging coal country ghost town. Coal country has been in complete decline for 70 years, yet people there still have the audacity to complain when a little bit of life comes back to these once booming cities, just cause they are so xenophobic and racist.

It hard out here. Ghettos I grew up in (bed-stuy & Bushwick & Williamsburg) are extremely expensive to live in now. Pennsylvania is now becoming like NY in terms of rental costs. To those who are thinking of moving here from NYC which is a tenant friendly state, you should note that Pennsylvania is landlord friendly. Tenants rights are few here no matter how horrible the landlord. Rents go up every year, you can also get frivolous charges such as “lease renewal” fees attached to your already increased newly raised monthly rents annually. Pennsylvanians also tend to move quite a bit due to rental increases. Do your research well before coming to this state.
We have been diligently saving money for 10 years to purchase a rental property in PA. Now that we are ready to purchase we have been studying the local rental situation and landlord rights/experiences and have concluded that being a small landlord in PA isn't worth the risks. We will pass on this for now at least.
City council needs to adopt affordable housing ordinance where families and people can stay living in nyc and not be priced out. The 80 20 rule is NOT good enough.
Affordable housing is not affordable, that is how they trick us, they play with words, get us to ask for Affordable housing knowing the price range is out of our reach because NO ONE wants to ask for more "LOW INCOME" housing which is what we need based on the HUD Definition of what is considered LOW INCOME.

Having people come every week to sign her booklet. She's very disrespectful, prejudice etc. HELP THE CITIZENS of New York City in shelter!! Oh by the way. The hotel up the street with the migrants in it, has busted the front window.
One of the reasons for the outrageous rent increases is to promote people having roommates in order to afford an apartment which in turn leads to an increase of homosexuality and lesbianism.

Leaving NY is a good thing if you’re poor, Jersey PA and DE have cheaper better living. I never understood why these poor people in the projects live in NY

All lies. Apartment occupancy is at an ALL TIME LOW in NYC. It's almost at a 50% VACANCY, the slumlords and the corporations have just jacked the rent too high for anyone to afford. Apartments are LITERALLY sitting on the market with no takers.
How about…you have NO MORE KIDS if you can’t afford them?

I left 4 years ago after living in NYC all my life !! Was the best decision ever , Come to Pittsburgh plenty jobs and housing out here
They keep talking about NYC, but it’s the same in NJ. Absolutely insane rent/housing prices. The issue is even being farther away from the city, the rent is pretty much like >$2000 for 1 bed and > $3000 for 2 bed. I dunno what’s going to happen, unless the government brings in some regulations
@ssds86, Look into how much property tax they're paying the government. You might find the answer there.
I don't think people understand that there is no affordable housing anywhere right now and we have let in a couple million people who will not get a living wage job or possibly a job at all. This will be a major disaster when there is no more money or support for them and they are put out of the shelters.
Exactly. Bidens inflation has hurt many. It will continue to rise if we don’t vote them out! There’s no stopping the OBidens!
@@Emmy-J

I agree!
There is no personal responsibility here. No reason to have 4 children if you can't afford1. The public shouldn't have to pay for *your* irresponsibility!
No joke! 4 children, no money, and no sympathy from me!
Not to sound heartless, but seriously stay within your means. 1 kid is very expensive to raise in nyc and imagine 4! Speaking from experience.

4 children in NYC. Bad life decisions
But the illegal immigrants are having them nonstop!
She says she wants to move to Pennsylvania. Cities like Reading and Allentown are pretty much ruined by Bronx people moving there by bringing drugs and crime.

My first apartment in the Bronx was an illegal apartment that I was lied to that it was legal. I took my landlord to housing court prior to this. They told me to stop paying and seek another apartment somewhere else. I find an apartment on trulia, found a place and sign the lease and whatever. To be called back and told because I am not considered to be “low income”. I end up having to move out of the city
Everything in NY is a scam, city filled with crooks
It hard out here. Ghettos I grew up in (bed-stuy & Bushwick & Williamsburg) are extremely expensive to live in now. I currently been bounced around from bay ridge to bath beach on the other side of BK and now these working - lower middle class hoods are getting very expensive as well. You really gotta make 75k year on up
To live somewhat comfortably. 85k up for comfortability. For extreme urban mobility experience I have visited Istanbul Türkiye 🇹🇷 and now I’ll be checking out Paris. Other than Philly or Chicago or jersey city/newark .. no other place in America will give me nyc vibes so that’s why I’m checking out urban areas around the world. I gotta step up my French or Turkish to relocate. Istanbul is pretty dope but they’re also going through gentrification. Nyc started getting gentrified once Bloomberg changed the zoning laws in 2005. Rent in Bushwick went from $750/month for a 3 bedroom to 3k/month in a span of under 10 years.
I hear you, Boricua. Low cost housing is hard to find in Washington, D.C. due to rapid white gentrification. Many traditional Black neighborhoods are not Salvadoran or white.

Not exactly true. I had a horrible tenant who destroyed things and didn’t pay utilities. Minimum 6 months to get out
We have been diligently saving money for 10 years to purchase a rental property in PA. Now that we are ready to purchase we have been studying the local rental situation and landlord rights/experiences and have concluded that being a small landlord in PA isn't worth the risks. We will pass on this for now at least.
What tenants also do is they pay partial rent to avoid getting evicted and when they have kids, the judge will avoid issuing an eviction
NYC don’t pay enough for NYC rent that’s the problem, even if u have over min wage they take a lot in taxes. Like $200
For than rent you can come to Little Rock Arkansas and live in a nice 3-4 bedroom 2-3 bathroom house in a nice neighborhood.
$6000 deposit?!!!!!! 😮 In the Bronx?!!! WHAT THE F!!!! Thats criminal!!!
When people don’t pay rent and the government allows it
City council needs to adopt affordable housing ordinance where families and people can stay living in nyc and not be priced out. The 80 20 rule is NOT good enough.
Affordable housing is not affordable, that is how they trick us, they play with words, get us to ask for Affordable housing knowing the price range is out of our reach because NO ONE wants to ask for more "LOW INCOME" housing which is what we need based on the HUD Definition of what is considered LOW INCOME.
since office space is up in the 90% free empty rate why can't they just make those empty offices into apartments.
That was discussed, they don’t have the funds to convert those buildings. But they have 54 million to feed illegals. People need to leave nyc, there won’t be much left, businesses are running out of NYS!

@@GeosRealityReport be poor in NYC in the projects, or have a nice apartment or rent a home in NJ, PA, or Delaware 🤷🏽♂️
It’s more complicated. Living below the poverty line means that you don’t work full time. Are those people unable to work full time? Are they unable to find work? If so, we need social service programs to support the disabled who can’t work and work training programs to help those who can to get jobs. You’re not going to make housing affordable for people who don’t work, especially in the most expensive city in the country where housing costs more to create than virtually anywhere else.
In many cases is not that they don't work full time, is that a lot of people do not have high income.
