Roughly 10yrs ago John Bretza of Okuma introduced the Makaira Line of fishing rods. It started with longer rods with lighter applications. In a few years Makaira Rods were a hit at ICAST for durable strong trolling rods. In 2020 Okuma retired that line & other options emerged like the PCH Trolling Rods to the HCS Custom Tuna Trolling Rods. Though retired i opted to purchase a pair since the prices has dropped but the high quality remains. Here's what you're getting-

I agree! I like the "look". The price was good because it's being discontinued for the newer PCH Trolling Rods. These rods have been around for roughly 9yr for a reason. Purchasing 2 PCH's is like getting 3 Makaira Rods. So under the lifetime limited warranty if no rods or parts are available in the future for the Maks it's upgraded. But i really take care of my gear. I clean everything good after a day of usage & i service my own reels. The only reels i ever had issues with were my Penn Senator Trolling reels. Probably because i had 6 of them and used them 2-4x a week. I became so good at servicing them that i did it for my friend who owned a tackle shop in exchange for free equipment. Nowadays reels became more complicated, especially spinners. The only reel that i can't do are bait casters.
