Hello, players cannot materially team up in a mist, because party function is disabled and because they cannot know respective names, so even if they're friends they shouldn't be able to recognize each other...but assuming that they weren't using cheats, nothing prevents players from deciding to unofficially team up, they could talk in-game and make a deal to fight together and split the loot. It's even possible that they didn't teamed up at all, maybe they recognize in you a good prey and decided both to attack you instead of fighting each other
