I teach my qb on a true 6 call where everybody goes deep, to find the safeties. If they’re playing wide focus on the slots, if they leave grass on the outside focus on the outside wr’s. If it’s hat for hat with oline vs dline the back has the option to get up 5 yards and settle where he sees grass. True 6 call. Not open grass style.

How do you teach that in practice?

@@CoachMcKie When the slots be on the field, my x & z plays the safeties at the same time they’re getting a feel for the safeties in the game. If they over play to the outside the inside should be tons of grass. Same for when x & z on the field the slots play safeties. Qb still reads the safeties. We put someone in for lb to give the rb a read on where to go and in this play the back gets to choose which side he lines up on. Same read for either side.

Hey coach, I have run the wing T for years in our youth program. Yesterday was the first game I have coached where EVERY kid on the opposing team was bigger than my biggest kid. I have always taken pride in ramming the ball down the other teams throat. It appears we may not be able to do that anymore. Finding your concepts will allow us to get kids in space and reduce going through the brut squad gauntlet on the line and hopefully reduce injuries. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!

Love the 4 man sweep concept as a compliment to your 4 man stick you've discussed. Speaking of, I stole your 4 man stick but turned it into snag wheel. Y runs a wheel and sets the floor. F runs a post and sets the ceiling. R runs the snag and runs right between the 2. Back in the flat. Nasty stuff.

@@CoachMcKie post is post. Not much instruction needed there. Tell snag to run his route right behind the post. Easiest that way. Wheel took the most time to sync. It's more like 2 to 3 steps upfield, out, then up the numbers. Worked great in a 7 on 7 atmosphere at spring practice. The LB covering the Y gets lost in the trash and the wheel is wide open. I dont even read the post. It just holds the safety. If zone it's simple flat to snag read. Man is wheel to flat to snag.
