duncans shot was still nice as fuck
Marcus Lopez same goes for Kobe's shot right before that. 3 clutch shots in a row...3 great players...Kobe, Duncan, Fisher.
Jonny Vango i thought it was a nice shot i just thought Shaq would made him miss that shot
Tim duncan shot was crazy falling down and making the shot, that what makes tim duncan great that he is so consistent.
For me, Fisher immediately running to the locker room, disappearing, leaving everyone with a "what the f*ck just happened" face is the most epic moment in NBA history.
@@Jumpman90 yeah but did magic Johnson hit a buzzer beater in game 5 tied 2-2 with 0.4 seconds left lmao context means a lot you know
@@Jumpman90 his shot at the garden is forever cemented in history but Derek def had his moment with that .4 shot… unbelievable
as the announcer said himself, get on the plane before they can review it lol.
Look at all of those legends. Kobe. Shaq. Duncan. Malone. Payton. Parker. Ginobli. Horry. Phil Jackson. Popovich. Unbelievable
@@NikolaJokerMVP15 what? Lakers were trash 05-07. Suns were the Spurs comp during those years
@@JuanMartinez-df1lc Steve Kerr was not on the level of these other guys.
The most incredible thing about this shot is that there's Kobe, Shaq, Malone, and Payton on the floor and FISHER is the hero. That's something right there.
+Tyler Fox thats the point u can expect an oop to either malone or shaq + the double team on kobe, alowed fish to get the ball, nice play phil
I read Phil's book. The last play was drawn for Kobe because he was their go to in the clutch but he was double teamed so GP passed to the open man which was Fisher
Do you really expect Shaq to take the game-winning shot? And Malone and Payton were 40/35 lul.
I'm so happy I witnessed this game live. It's probably one of the best playoff games in NBA history.
It honestly ruined the nba for me because nothing could ever give that same feeling.
Same brada .. shame
They lost to fckn detriot that year .. great moments that season 🥲
The fact Duncan Manu Parker heck throw in Horry due to his impact on both teams during 5 titles over 7 years plus Shaq Malone Kobe Payton are all on the floor and it's Fisher whose the hero when he got benched due to the year before losing to this same team...his career is crazy and the fact he made a name for himself during this era despite his flaws as a player is inspiring
That shot by Duncan before the .4 shot was insane as well! Dude was falling away and still hit that almost at the 3 pt line
Turning in that direction as a right-hander makes it so much more tricky than if he was turning the other way
On Tim Duncan ...yes he played it simple all the time
And only targeted high percentage shots
But he also delivered one of.the 3 or 4 greatest NBA shots I have ever seen
1.This shot over Shaq is impossible
2. Ray Allen's 3pointer vs Spurs in the 2012 playoffs game 6
3. Kyrie Irving's 3 pointer to seal Game 7 in 2016
man, i turned the tv off after Timmy's shot. i went to bed pissed and woke up shocked to find out the Lakers won the game. Ever since then i always watch the until the clock hits 0:00.
Man.... That's some Miami Heat fan type of shit.. U gotta stay wit it if u r a true fan!!
Lol I was a kid back when this game came on, I lived in LA and I remember watching this live. Everyone went crazy, school the next day was crazy as well. The early 2000's was such an amazing time to be in LA as a Laker fan.
***** The NFL and The NBA was both great to watch. Now its just watered down.
fisher shot ends up being remembered but the duncan shot wouldve been legendary if it was a buzzer beater
3 clutch shots back to back to back, they can't all be the stuff of legends
But obviously Fisher's shot was the most clutch out of all of them because he didn't even look at the hoop! We got the most legendary shot we could ask for.
That shot by Duncan was unreal. You're right it was an amazing shot. I was devastated when he hit it back when I watched this live. But of course it was followed by one of the best moments I have as a Laker fan. What a rollercoaster.
70+ points in the game, just shows how ELITE the defense was...💜💛
@@Coop95 no they actually played defense back then. Believe it was the last season before the NBA started hating on defense.
@@akonvict look it up after the 2004 season the commissioner took out the arm reach in rule to lighten up on defense and have the NBA to score more in games because he thought the viewers would like that more. Also the 3 point shooting is stupid now cuz of curry and them all and ruined the game alot
@@Coop95 Trash offense? lol , put Shaq and Kobe in todays week aps era, they will drop nearly 40 per night.. Put jordan poole in that era, his 20 ppg will be like 8 ppg even if he play for 40 mins
I recall watching this, and after Duncan made that shot I was walking up to the TV to turn it off. Then just stood in front of it thinking, well game ain't over till it's over. Then Fish does that cray shit, and the whole damn neighborhood erupts. Could hear honking and screamin all throughout. Some good childhood memories growing up with the Lakers of the late 90's and early 2k's.
My dad and I re-enacted the .4 shot dozens of times on the court after the game
I remember that night well, the entire city of LA absolutely erupted that night, I’ll never forget Whittier Blvd and all the cars driving by with their laker flags honking and flashing their lights. Good times
Bruh To Live and Die in LA... Shout out to all my neighbors in sunny California
I know! I was SO bummed and I was just getting up to turn it off and then that shit happens. I screamed until I was hoarse.
rumor has it Fisher watched the first replay from his crib
Fisher actually said he ran to the locker room because he wasn't sure if he got it off in time and didn't want to celebrate a loss on accident.
1:11 this city needs a hero...
The hero we deserve but not the one we need right now.
So we'll hunt him, because he can take it...

So much classics in this video
1. The sequence
2. Derek Fisher’s .4 shot
3. Lakers running to the locker room
4. Al Michaels commentary
So much heat 🔥🔥🔥
I remember when I initially watched NBA, about a decade ago, everyone was taking about Miller's 8 pts in 8.9 sec, T-Mac's 13 pts in 33 sec, and Fish's 0.4 sec shot. I thought DAMN NBA is fucking amazing. A decade later, these are still the most amazing moments ever captured.
+Kevin Cheng right, nowadays we're gettin Le'flop and shaqtin a fool replays
+Kevin Cheng yep it seems to me you never either see games this close with this much emotion or the players just dont have the heart and clutchness to do something like this lol
tidusxaderkanx Yeah, 40 seconds left and still down by 8? Time to consider which nightclub we're hitting tonight.
Yo I remember watching this as a kid being super pissed when Duncan made his shot. I turned the TV off but something told me to turn it back on and I witnessed a great moment in play-off history
i made the mistake too when I missed the Horry shot between lakers and kings. Never made that mistake again.
DAVID HE I remember that game... I was in high school and we had quotes of the day in history class... my friend went to the board and put "same ol story, hero is Horry " lol... damn those were great times
Jonathan Pontel I was in highschool as well, i remember watching lakers made my day back then...
No one ever talks about this shot but this was one of the greatest moments in basketball history
Agree the crazy thing is I think Duncan’s shot would have been an all timer had it not been followed by this shot
They use to. It was the only talked about thing for 3 years. But now it’s a new gen of basketball so people dont think about it.
0:58 I love how Kobe still has confidence in his face and Shaq looked like he already accepted defeat black mamba was on another level
Man you dick riders really gotta stop. Kobe didn’t look “confident”…that was a look of ‘here we go again’ because it sure seemed like the Spurs we’re gonna eliminate them after getting another crazy Game 5.
THE WAY THE LAKERS RAN FOR THEIR LIVES IN THE END WAS HILARIOUS!!! I love how he said "They'll review it and the Lakers are gonna run to the dressing room and try to get on the plane before the officials can get over to the score's table". What if they make it on time? They'll count it in by default? HAHAHAHA!!!

Man those Spurs/LA rivalry in the 00s was amazing tho.
As a loyal Spurs fan...I feel your pain lol. I was gutted both times. Both shots I was on my feet.
So true, the Spurs/LA days were something else! Great memories and I’ll always be a die hard Spurs fan!! Even with moments like this. Lol #GSG
Maaannn i rmemeber being on my knees during these games against the lakers and the playoff runs the spurs had. So many legendary games and game winning shots. The best basketball i ever witnessed. The rollercoaster of emptions year in and year out during the playoffs was something i havent felt since then. Glad i was able to catch 4 of the 5 title runs and all the games during that dynasty. Miss it.
Life long spurs fan here. One of my earliest memories as a kid was watching this moment live. I have yet to experience the same rush of opposite emotional reactions, right after another. This was the moment I knew I fell in love with basketball.
Same. As a young Lakers fan though. Both our teams dominated the 2000s. Fell in love with basketball in 2000. Will always remember the early days where Lakers/Spurs were always the marquee matchups.
@@TheForkOnTheLeftist for sure! But I was about 5 in ‘03 and don’t remember too much beyond this specific point. However, everything about this moment has been etched in my head ever since. Where I was, who I was with, etc. Unforgettable to say the least 🙏🏽
Kobe's clutch shot was overturned by Tim Duncan's clutch shot which was overturned by Fisher's clutch shot. Simply insane
turning 22 this year and I still remember this game live when I was 9, my family and I were in huge distraught after Duncan's shot and that Spurs dogpile after Duncan's shot still gives me a gut-sinking feeling to this day. Lakers run deep in my family and this was probably the most memorable moment for me as a Laker fan.
Vincent word. Grew up in LA and watched every game as a kid RELIGIOUSLY. Then went outside and played ball with the homies trying to recreate all these sick moments after the game. These games were epic.
yea. i remember i was sleeping over at my friends house, and we just heard shouting going on from upstairs, and it was his parents freaking out over the fischer shot.
What an Era in basketball, it's not often you see 5 or more NBA LEGENDS on the court at the same time.

It’s 2021 and I still remember this shot like it was yesterday, what a game and series. RIP Kobe 😢
The whole sequence from Kobe making the shot to Duncan making the shot to the fisher shot is the greatest sequence of events in nba history imo.
If Fisher hadn't hit that shot, we would always remember Tim Duncan's extra clutch shot over Shaq
2004 was a time after mj retired so it was the last 5 finals mvps and 3 of the last 4 mvps going at it...Duncan vs shaq in 04 was probably the most hyped series I can remember...
if duncan didnt hit that shot, we would have rememberd kobes game winner with 5 seconds left
3 clutch shots by 3 5-timeChamps and legends in under 15 seconds, and in the playoffs.
What else do you want?
a game that isnt 70 to 69 with under 30 seconds left with all these scorers hall of famers and the 2 best coaches outside of larry brown and pat riley in a 2-2 series....are you kidding me with this score....how do you have shaq and duncan score so well down low in their primes get so many fts and the game is this ugly?...wheres the shooting...the nbas shooting from 1999-2005 was garbage...no role players were good shooters...horry missed 2 huge shots in santonio between 2003-2004...this dude could have won 6 straight titles if he hit those 2 3's in back to back years lol...he got his 7 rings but he could have 8 and stopped the spurs dynasty from starting...horry by missing in game 5 in 2003 ended the lakers dynasty
Bolly Boi hes not to casual fans
he wont get a statue, or his jersey retired.
but we hardcore fans know he was a key piece in his 16 year run in LA we love us some Fish
glad hes on spectrum now, stealing wives n shit
+vaev my point is dude was never a top 50 player in the league at any given time. maybe not even top 100
This sequence was the craziest sequence in NBA history, hands down!
This is one of those moments where you remember exactly where you were when it happened
Yup at home watching my TV I was 16 years old. When I saw Duncan let that shot go I thought to myself thats gonna be way off but it was right on the money
I will never forget watching this live. One of the best things I have ever witnessed
Still one of my favorite things to go back and watch along with Tracy's 13 pts and 35 secs
i get it if he makes that with a quick release like curry but fishers shot was way to late lol
3-1 bomb..so fun to watch..curry wife saying its rigged...later that yr shot clock was changed....0.3 tenths of a second..not 2 seconds
Kobe , Shaq & Fisher great team!!!
Rest in Peace Kobe!!!💙
Kobe, i will love you forever! you will be always in my heart
"Theyll try to get on the plane before the officialscan get over to the scores table" ROFLMAO Fisher was like, "Fuck it, we scored, we leaving!!"
I remember watching this live with some of my friends. This is a core memory that will stay with me until I die.

Lakr101 I remember the rage I was in after Duncan made the most boring fall away EVER(I really hate the Spurs but respect Tim😂) then when Fisher knocked it down I scared everyone in the house!!
That shot was amazing. Ginobili did a great defensive effort but Fisher was in another level at that moment.
Still the most shocking conclusion to a basketball game that I've seen.
Look at the score here with all this talent on the court, 74-73 the good old days of good defense.
As a Lakers fan, I remember feeling so dejected after Duncan hit that shot...then lost my mind after Fisher hit the final shot! What a game!
I miss late 90s early 2000s playoffs. Remember when the Sacramento Kings were good and thw Thunder was just that noise that came with lightning? Those were the days.

This was the play that made me fall in love with NBA & the lakers. Mad follower from Australia 17 years ago 💪🏽💪🏽
He scores! Derek Fisher. Scores. At. The buzzer!
Sort of awkward wording to use the word scores when referring to a basket but kind of justified here because of what an unbelievable play it was. I feel like Al said scores because he's so used to calling other sports that use the word much more often and he only did NBA games for 2 years, this being his first.
billny33 “scores” is a pretty common basketball term. How many times have you heard “puts it up off the window and scores!”
@@TheLocalLt not often. I think Dick Stockton used to say it a lot too way back in the 80s. Puts it off the window and scores I used to hear when playing NBA Live 2000 for my N64 but not too often outside of that.

I was visitng Chicago, from L.A. and watching the game in a bar. They all cheered at Duncan's shot. I think I was the only one jumping around when Fisher pulled off that beautiful play.
The NBA's last Great Rivalry. The Lakers and the Spurs. Jackson vs Popovich. Shaq vs Duncan. Kobe vs Manu, Tony and Bowen. California vs Texas. You don't see defensive struggles like this anymore. You wont see a 74 to 73 game again.
Well Warriors-Cavs turned out to be quite a rivalry in the time since you wrote this comment. But I guess that's over now too. Plus the Dubs getting Durant kind of spoiled it.
KD ruined that by OPing the Warriors. Before that they were damn near even.
I do think the Lakers and Spurs rivalry is underrated mainly because the Sacramento Kings were the Lakers number 1 nemesis and that clash of Titans in 2000 between the Blazers and Lakers. Although the 01 series between the Lakers and Spurs was a mismatch. In 03 Tony Parker was the first to really destroy that Lakers defense.
@@bigstar66 I disagree, before KD the Cavs had a clear advantage. They lost the series they had Kevin Love and Irving injured and beat the Warriors 3 games in a row to win the series next year. That Golden State team were overachievers until Durant. They were sort of like the Indiana Pacers that played Miami in the ECF. They were good enough to give Lebron a tough series but I don't think they could have beaten him with his team healthy as he beat them 3 games in a row with 2 of those games being at Golden State.
My greatest childhood sports memory. An epic performance from both players. Fisher defined clutch this game.
Man the energy these games used to have was insane. I am glued and I watched it live.

But the postseason for both sports is what we live for.
guys guys cmon. i mean theyre both way better than baseball lets agree on that
The nfl is better to me only because of the championship variety... In the NBA, teams rule the finals for years and it's very boring after a while
