Love Gogandantess. He could've killed Jubei twice, but instead wanted him to get stronger and become a worthy rival. Then when he's beaten, he's not even mad, just proud. And his final request is one last stroking of his ego. So great.
Man this brings back so much memories, as a kid I never really understood Gogandantees. But as a adult it made me realize that he wasn't truly a evil person, if anything he had morals and along with those morals all he ever wanted was a worthy challenge. He earned my respect truly the only demon you just can't hate.
It shows that enemies in video games can be "honourable," rather than being a ruthless cold-blooded killer. Even for a demon, Gogandantess is very polite.
Favourite character in the Onimusha series. The honourable rival maybe a common trope in gaming but when it's reinforced with so much ham and charisma I can never hate it.
I love Gogandantess with his fun theatrics, his wry, whimsical, care free and shameless personality. We can all see a bit of ourselves in Gogandantess. He is so honourable that Jubei embraced him in death on the battlefield and was kind to him. The greatest villains are not the ones you hate but the ones you come to love and are sad to see go.
I was thinking that the Onimusha series would make such an awesome anime, and with Gogandantess the greatest swordsman of all demons, it just shows it basically already is! I loved this guy so much, I think battling him was my favourite parts of the game!
I remember, struggling through, barely surviving against normal demons, Then along comes Dantess, claiming to be the greatest swordsman and the only goal was to survive. 😂
Unfortunately, I’m on the level with the beach. Have half health and I did upgrade Jubei’s armor and weapons to second level. The problem is that I saved after Jubei rans out of the cave and used the herb that was given to me. Anyone that has advice will be appreciated.
you're not meant to fight Gogandantess one on one but survive. Keep him targeted with R1 and use the left and right to strafe around his attacks and press L1 to block combos. When he does an obviously strong attack by winding up, strafe away because the attack won't be blockable

If they make another Capcom versus SNK installment, Gogandantess really needs to be on that installment, along with every one of the Samurais from the onimusha series to take on the Samurais from Samurai Showdown.
