Ah, I was hoping the Osmose's usual mpe per-note continuous volume control via key depth could apply. But I should've expected that's too much to ask from the M4000D. Thinking about it... I should be surprised it can accept polyphonic aftertouch! Such a nostalgic sound.
Yes, I was happy that the Rack was able to use the poly after touch! I've read that it was possible since the full sized M4000D keyboard does poly after touch but I've never been able to try it out.
Thanks! There are some rental outfits that rent them but it looks to be expensive, one in New York charges $225 per day for the full sized keyboard M4000D.
@@JohnLRice I doubt I’d find one in Poland. But I’m almost buying one, just can’t pay the full price, so waiting for the first shop with a discount or a used unit.
Congratulations on the Osmose. Mine should arrive in May. :-) Does the combination Osmose/Mellotron feel natural or does the Mellotron reacts somehow weird to the amount of information provided by the Osmose?
Congrats to you next month! ;-) The Osmose worked quite well with the Mellotron I think. There is a menu in the Osmose where you can select what type of MIDI output you want: MPE, Classic MIDI, Poly After Touch, and at least one more. I used the Poly After Touch with the Mellotron.
@@JohnLRice Did the Mellotron makers make some clever programming or is aftertouch just controlling standard parameters like loudness? Of course the original Mellotron didn’t have aftertouch, but the sound of the tape against the tape head could be affected by the playing pressure. I hope this feature is implemented in the modern digital version.
Sounds great with the Mellotron!
Thanks Jonathan! 🙂

That’s a hell of a combo. I’d love to make some videos with the M4000D someday

@@friendlynoise As far as I know the aftertouch only affects the loudness in the M4000D.
