I haven't been to the nail salon in 7 years, but when I went for a manicure/pedicure, I took my own tools for the reasons you stated. However, at that point, I was wearing my own nails, so I didn't have to use their drills. If you decide to continue going, I recommend purchasing your own tools - manicure/pedicure kit, and a good portable drill to take whenever you go to the salon, and make sure you observe them clean the foot spa.
