On a side note: I got on a second hand marketplace (online) and tracked down a almost free over/gas hob combo like your. My was used in a boat for many many years and was quite nackered as well...
I had no intention to use the gas system which was build in and I started taking apart the oven, removing the gas pipes, burners, hob and valves.
Since have an ethanol 2 burner hob already I could concentrate on gettting the oven to run on ethanol as well. I got hold a f two 3,5 inch chafing dish bruners which I set in the bottom om the oven.
The oven came with a double/false bottom which acts as yet as a heat deflector. The chaffing dish burners are able to get the oven up to a good temperatur: 200 degrees C (or 392 Fahrenheit)
I do not need the burners to be adjustable. I have a stone handy salvaged from a stone grill cooker (which was previously also powered by ethanol burners) to see if the oven works better if the stone provides some indirect heat...
The oven is generally left as is, just adding an extra bottom and top heat shield and some rockwool insulation in between), I kept the vent in the rear which vents out on top of the kitchen work surface just behind the 2 burner hob. The 2 burner hob is set in a separate shelf space and can be covered by a hinged (back) lid if not in use. The oven exhaust vent is situated behind the hinged lid and can still vent out very well even if the lid is hinged open.
I have as yet have to do a test on how it performs as an oven but it should work very well

Hi Rick. Very nice re-fit. Looks nice and tidy. Well done. One suggestion. To keep the oven door from opening up and flopping down while driving, maybe you can install a small "L" shaped bracket on the side of the adjoining sink cabinet. When the oven is not in use you can flip down the bracket so that it rests flush on the front of the oven door to keep the door closed tight and perhaps also prevent any future rattle noise. You could cover the bracket with some of that felt so it doesn't scratch the over door. Just a thought.

Hi Rick, nice improvement cooker oven to to van, the only additional improvement I would also add a pan rail like you get on maritime cookers and hob, saves accidentally knocking pans off the hob and burning yourself. You might get lot of ideas from maritime shows because yachts also have tight spaces too. The oven is ideal for cooking the Birdseye fish in sauce like Cod in Tomato or Haddock in white wine and mustard, they are great served with Uncles Ben's microwave rice and some mixed vegetables, all cooked in 30 minutes. Have you got a mini fridge freezer and cooker for your fresh drinks. Love what you have done with the van, very impressive and great workmanship too. We hope it will give many years of pleasure. Stay well young man, see you in the next video 👍🍾🍷

  • @koningbolo4700
    @koningbolo4700 2 роки тому

I may have 2 ideas for you that may help you out in future:
    1. The shelf thing: I build my own cabinets as well and I use mostly drawer slides.
I make one beefier drawer (well the sliders are beefier then all re st) which is the bottom one. To this lower drawer I attached the cabinet front (which would normally be the door) and every other shelf is on a slider (a very much less beefy one) The idea is I don 't have to go full batman to get anything fro the cabinet as every shelf can be pulled out and every item on said shelf can be accessed quite comfortably...
    2. On the LED lighting. I anticipated the chinesium sticky tape to fail at some point so I got hold of an off cut of plastic tube, normally used in radiant under floor heating systems, which is nice and stiff, is shock resistant to a degree, white and opaic.
I made similar lighting strips like you did only I shoved them into said plastic tubing which I finished with a dap of hot glue and some heat shrink tubing. The plastic tube is fitted inside cabinets and overhead storage using pvc conduit holders...

Hi Rick! Apparently haven't been getting notifications. I really like the shelving vs cabinet doors. Restoring an RV. Will have to really give your idea some thought. Thanks! 👍 💜
If you put a pizza stone or unfinished clay tile in the bottom of your oven, it'll cook more evenly. 😀

Good to see you uploading another campervan vid. A bit of a bummer with the GoPro. Have you tried updating the firmware? I bought a HERO7 Black recently and it has performed flawlessly. You might need to change the SD card especially if you're filming in 4K. The brands I'd recommend are Toshiba (they invented flash memory), SanDisk and Samsung. Amazon is the best place to buy them. eBay is a potential minefield with lots of fakes listed on there.

Which push to fit drawer slides did you use? Have you had any issues with them coming open when driving? I’m upgrading our kitchen to have drawers instead of shelves. The shelf under the oven and fridge is a pain to get to so we have decided drawers are the way forward. I’m also putting some others in next to the oven.

Thats a nice little addition to your van right there, and it looks like you are all set for your trip to Scotland. Which incidently you will have to travel through Northumberland to get to, and I can tell you alot of very interesting places to visit. The tree that has grown on Hadrians Wall and has been featured in films, for example. There is beautiful scenery all over mate, and it just so happens my allotment is only 5 minutes drive from some proper fish and chips in Tynemouth, and the kettle will always be on for you on my plot mate :)
Get yourself on tour.. You will love it :) Now Crack On :)
