Thanks for putting the effort into this piece - it’s good to look back to see how far we have progressed, but more work needed, and determination to keep moving forwards.
Anthony Monaghan Their are state schools in North Ireland that every child of any religion or non religion can attend, their are also Integrated schools who work under the same premise all religions or non welcome. There are also Roman Catholic faith schools where it’s part of the core ethos that you must subscribe to the principles of the Roman Catholic Church being taught along with the educational Curriculum those who don’t agree with this need of one religion only in education need not apply or are not welcome. Irish speaking schools are also mostly the preserve of the Roman Catholic community. As you can see the people who are faith of the Romans have the opportunity to go to any school in the country and not be turned away those of other faiths other than Roman Catholic have a lot fewer school choices and opportunities for education in the North of Ireland. The district the schools are placed can also account for appreciation of children’s safty. I myself went to school on the edge of the boundary where 30 years of terrorism divided the community’s and was often beaten whilst making my way home you learned to run quickly or face violence attack’s upon your person, perhaps the head teacher was putting his pupils safty before any other high minded principles or as stated (bitterness)Peace ✌️
RSR I’m Catholic not Roman Catholic..Church of Ireland catholic. Protesters of Roman rule in Ireland much like the protesters of British rule in Ireland we’re a notion of protesters from the Romans arrived. Peace ✌️
Two groups of people fighting over who’s version of the same imaginary friend is the correct version. Absolute insanity. Religion is nothing but a hinderance to progress and peace.
Jason Iversen You’ve misunderstood. The conflict has to do with differing identities and allegiances. Religion is simply a means of identifying which ‘side’ a person belongs to.
Vic Vinegar Religion in a way is an identity... Who knows? Things could have been more peaceful if maybe that religion was non-existent there at the time. People unite easily if they have less differences, especially such as religious. But I do agree with the main comment... religion is a hindrance to progress. Christianity being reformed was the only big step forward due to schools, but I feel like it would have happened anyway at one point, but now it's kind of useless. Really. I myself am very glad I live in a mainly atheistic society. Religion really doesn't..give anything, but
Jesus suffered at the hand of man made religion laws and politics was crucified, died and still lives in each good act mankind does for humanity. Jesus loves and saves every one, just ask..Peace ✌️
Jean Wallace In where does the bible say that he saves everyone. I feel like you're being an average lemming at that part, not questioning anything, which one should...question everything when talking about ones existence. But anyway, should be obvious nobody in this comment thread doesn't believe in an imaginary friend, so I don't understand your point... Please do explain.
Arlis Arto Puidet Jesus is a historic figure no one denies the existence of the Roman Empire or Pontius Pilate who was the fifth prefect of the Roman province of Judaea, serving under Emperor Tiberius from AD 26 to 36,best known today for the trial and crucifixion of Jesus. Jesus life is not from imagination it’s a recorded fact, unless your also stating everything we know to be factual about the Roman Empire was also imaginary. Peace ✌️

I'm Catholic and live in the pm hometown I mix with all religions, I hope Ireland is unified peacefully
How can the principle of a school not support shared education? That is simply crazy...

I was raised Protestant and my wife Catholic where would we live?
My family is the same. Peace
How Protestants and Catholics, two groups of people who worship the same god, same Jesus and use the same bible, don’t get on, just baffles the mind
religion: making siblings enemies since 2500 BC
Northern Ireland will always be Ireland. Ireland will always be catholic.
